Question of the Week
Pregunta de la Semana
Question for Children: Jesus teaches us that work is
good for us. What kind of work do you do during the
week? How does it help you?
Question for Youth: Jesus tells us that even though
bad things will happen, we are safe in God. When have
you felt the safety of God’s life in your own life?
Question for Adults: Paul's words to the Thessalonians
are tough: if you want to eat, you must work! How does
this translate into our society today? How do you
reconcile this with Jesus' command to love and feed the
poor?
Ministry to the Sick and Homebound
Respect
"The greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion"
"If we say the mother can kill her own child, how can we tell
other people not to kill each other?” (Mother Teresa)
(Mother Teresa)
The ministers to the sick and homebound want to thank all
of you, who have donated items for distribution to our
communicants. There are now plenty of prayer books,
prayer cards, devotional items, and rosaries for all. We also
received wall crosses and other larger
items which we will distribute during
Christmas.
Again, thank you all
and God bless.

Oración de Corresponsabilidad
Stewardship Prayer
que Tú, quien has comenzado ésta buena obra
Amen
Oh God, filled with desire by your call for discipleship,
while sharing our lives in imitation of your son
Jesus Christ,
and by following the footsteps of our Patroness,
St. Frances X. Cabrini,
we profess that the call requires us
to be stewards of the gifts you have given us.
As stewards we receive your gifts
gratefully, cherish and tend them
in a responsible manner.
We share them in practice and love with others,
and return them with increase to the Lord.
We pledge to our ongoing formation as stewards
and our responsibility to call others to the same mission.
Almighty and ever faithful God,
it is our fervent hope and prayer
that You who have begun this good work
in us will bring it to fulfillment
for the greater honor of your Name,
of your Son and your Holy Spirit.
Amen

Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Stephen Ministry …
Recently we wrote about the use of
spiritual songs (hymns) by Stephen
Ministers to hopefully move and inspire
a closer relationship with God, because
we understand how important that is in healing. The
process we use is called “meditation”. Let’s see how
our Catechism of the Catholic Church #2705 defines
meditation. “Meditation is above all a quest. The
mind seeks to understand the why and how in order
to adhere and respond to what the Lord is asking”.
In #2708 our Catechism tells us, “Meditation
engages thought, imagination, emotions, and desire.
This mobilization of difficulties is necessary in order
to deepen our conviction of faith, prompt the
conversion of our heart, and strengthen our will to
follow Christ.” another of our great Catholic hymns
that lends itself readily to meditation which reflects
the above definition well is “Shepherd Me, O God”,
by Marty Haugen. The refrain is “Shepherd me, O
God, beyond my wants, beyond my fears, from
death into life.” The verses are 1.”God is my
Shepherd, so nothing shall I want, I rest in the
meadows of faithfulness and love, I walk by the
quiet waters of peace.” (to refrain) 2. “Gently you
raise me and heal my weary soul, you lead me by
pathways of righteousness and trust, my Spirit shall
sing the music of your name. (refrain) 3. “though I
should wander the valley of death, I fear no evil, for
you are at my side, your rod and your staff, my
comfort and my hope.” This song is based on King
David’s Psalm #23, p.947 New American Bible.
What is God telling us in each verse? What is he
asking of us? What emotions are expressed? How
can this meditation help us? Be certain to identify
with the “I” and the “Me” in the song and identify
God as the “You” and “Your”. How does it make you
feel? The Stephen Ministers are always here to help
you when you need us!!!

Grief Share
Grief Share is a special 6-week series for
anyone grieving the death of someone close.
It's a place where participants are surrounded
by people who understand the pain and struggles of such
loss. Participants obtain valuable information from each
other that will help them through this most difficult time in
their life. In an atmosphere of love and confidentiality, we
learn to open our hearts, share our stories, and allow
ourselves to be healed.
For participants to benefit from our sessions, we need to
have at least four attendees, not counting the facilitator.
Anyone interested in attending a grief share session, please
contact Ursula at 909-797-2533 ext. 225. A date for the
sessions will be set once we have enough attendees.
