be requesting some details that will help determine the need for a clerical
visit or assistance through a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound. The
bulletin listing of the sick will be grouped bi-weekly so that we all can be
aware of those newly added to the listing. The bulletin will maintain the
listings for three months unless otherwise specified to be listed
indefinitely. After three months names can be added once again if not
otherwise listed as indefinite. Thank you for your assistance and
cooperation.

Congratulations to Siles Lee Feedor, Kathryn Anne

receiving First Eucharist this past weekend. May this be the

Year Three: Equipping the Parish
Blessings on all who attended the final Adult L.I.F.E. session for this
year! Delicious cake, much sought-after prizes, prayer to end the national
month of poetry, challenging trivia with resulting lively discussions with
a very special guest, and a Litany of Saints designed to send us all out
into the world to join the entire Communion of Saints. Thank you, Sandy
Wittig, for sharing your musical gifts!
REFLECTION
The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
"And when the leftover fragments were picked up, they filled
twelve wicker baskets." Today's Gospel shows us that Jesus
wants to do more than satisfy our needs. He wants to give us an
experience of fullness and abundance. He not only miraculously
fed the crowd of thousands; he also provided enough to make a
mountain of leftovers. More than they needed, more than they
ever expected. That's what Jesus gave.
And it's what he continues to give us every time we receive the
Eucharist. This too is a miraculous meal. Like the multiplication
of "five loaves and two fish," Jesus turns something small--bread
and wine--into something abundant and overflowing: his body,
blood, soul, and divinity.
Through this sacrament we experience the gift of union with
Jesus and the resulting graces that come from encountering him.
Just like the crowds gathered that day in a deserted place, we
come to Jesus with our emptiness--our needs, our weaknesses,
our fears--and he fills us up until we too are "satisfied."
The prayer after Communion on today's feast of the Most
Holy Body and Blood of Christ reminds us that what we experience at Mass is a foretaste of that ultimate satisfaction that we
will experience in heaven: "Grant, O Lord, we pray, that we may
delight for all eternity in that share in your divine life, which is
foreshadowed in the present age by our reception of your precious Body and Blood." Receiving the Lord in the Eucharist is a
momentous miracle and an earthly glimpse into heaven. May
today's celebration help remind us to be ever grateful for this
most glorious gift.

Memorial Day: Why are human beings willing to fight and die
for freedom? As Americans, this Memorial Day please remember those who died in the service of our country. But as Catholic
Americans, we should also reflect on the meaning of true freedom and thank God for the Church which proclaims the way to
the fullness of that freedom. One reason why we are willing to
fight and die for freedom is because the need for freedom is imprinted into our very nature. True freedom is much deeper than
being able to do what we want. Freedom directs us toward truth.
The Church teaches us that to understand freedom we need to
consider both our nature and the very purpose of our humanity.
God instilled this purpose within us, so that we would seek Him,
for He is truth. Seeking and finding truth, we are obligated to live
it to the best of our ability. We cannot satisfy this obligation unless we are free. This Memorial Day we should remember those
who died in the service of our country but we should also remember our Church, who has defended the dignity and freedom
of the human person for over two-thousand years.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
Elementary Sunday L.I.F.E. (Living In Faith Everyday)
The Elementary L.I.F.E. sessions for 2015/16 have come to an end but the
learning is never over. The children learned about the Seven Sacraments,
the parts of the Mass, different kinds of prayers, the Bible, the Trinity and
so much more. Parents it is on your shoulders to continue these teaching,
continue teaching them the prayers and to sign your children up for next
year. Sign-ups for next year are July 9th and 10th and July 23rd and 24th
after all the Masses. Have a Great and Safe Summer and see you this
Fall.
“Barnyard Roundup” FREE Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Registration is OPEN!! Go to http://staugustineparish.net to fill out
the registration form. VBS is June 20th—24th from 9am—12:15pm.
The children will be Moovin' and Groovin' to some great music and the
they will learn that Jesus is better than a BFF! Jesus, their Savior, knows
them by name, rounds them up, and brings them home. He is with them
always and forever- no matter what! There is limited space so Sign-up
NOW!!!
We need a LOT of help on the farm. There is a volunteer form on the
website or you can contact Fran Kuzma in the office to help, ext. 1120 or

Children’s Liturgy “We need your help!” We now need many people
to help with this very rewarding Ministry. It is a once a month commitment. You work in pairs and you do not have to go to another Mass.
Training is provided and is very easy. Parents, teens, young adults why
not go out with the children and see how easy it really is to share the
Word with our children of St. Augustine. Contact Fran Kuzma ext. 1120

EDGE/LIFETEEN
On Monday, May, 23rd we celebrated our final session for the 2015-2016
EDGE/LIFETEEN religious education year with a FIESTA. A great time
was had by all. May you all have a great summer and watch the bulletin
for Summer Fun Activities.

Our Senior Mass will be celebrated Sunday, June 5th, at the 11:15 am

We are seeking a full-time Coordinator of Facilities Maintenance
Candidates should be able to perform minor plumbing, hardware, painting and
electrical repair. Candidates must have mechanical aptitude, excellent interpersonal skills, be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and be able to climb up to a 14 ft. ladder. Duties also include setup and tear down of parish hall and overseeing
ground and cleaning services. A general working knowledge of the construction trade is required. Preferably the candidate will be able to communicate in
both English and Spanish. Interested individuals should send a letter of interest,

PARISH LIFE
This past weekend we welcomed six adults and eleven youth
for full initiation into the Catholic Church along
with five First Eucharist children. May the Spirit of
God burn in their heart and may this be the first of
many Eucharist in their lifetime. May we be bread
and peace for one another and for the world.

BUILDING AND FACILITY
We have two gracious volunteers Mike Coston and German
Badilla
who have come forward to monitor the halls and secure our facility
Monday through Thursday evenings. Thank you! We are still in need of
more volunteers. Please contact the Business office for more information.
OUR ANNUAL PICNIC is on June 5, 2016. Our theme
will be “Throw back 1950”. Tickets may be purchased
after each mass and at the office.
A COMMUNITY EVENT– The St. Augustine Hispanic
Festival will take place from August 11 through August
14th. New food offerings, carnival rides, cultural displays,
dances and vendors will be here!
Volunteers are needed for both events. Your participation,
ideas and help is very much needed to pull this off! Please contact

SAVE THE DATE....BIG STONE GAP clothing drive will take place
on June 25th and 26th. Start cleaning your closets and packing those
boxes. Clothing for boys sizes 0-14 is a special need this year. Sheets
and towels are also welcomed. Please label boxes, for example: boys
summer. Since the closing of coal mines, many of these people have no
jobs and their needs are great!!!! Let’s make this the largest truck load
of clothes we have ever sent to our neighbors. Questions call Betty

Part-time Furniture Set up/Take down position
We are in need of a person to set up table and chairs as well as take
down and put away furniture for St. Augustine Church’s committees,
groups and events as needed. This position is hourly and he/she will
work closely with the Parish life coordinator and be familiar with all

Texts We Sing/Songs We Live Workshop - Saturday June 4, 2016, 9:30
AM - 3:00 PM- St. Andrew in Roanoke, VA hosts the last of 3 workshops
presented by The Office of Worship titled "Texts We Sing/Songs We
Live". Fr. Michael Renninger discusses with attendees the meaning of
basic sung prayers; actions, gestures, and movements of the liturgy; and
connections between the words and actions of the liturgy and our daily
living of the Gospel. You will not be disappointed. Many participants at
the workshops in Hampton and Richmond praised Fr. Renninger: "Fr. was
inspirational, entertaining and well versed. A delightful speaker." Tickets

The Office for Black Catholics Young Adult Ministry invites all young
adults, age 18-39, to join us for our annual young adult retreat, June 17-19,
2016 at the Williamsburg Christian Retreat Center. The non-refundable

de trabajo y sus necesidades son grandes!!!! Hagamos de esta la
mayor carga de camión de ropa que hemos enviado a nuestros

el candidato utilizará modelos nacionales y diocesanos de catequesis intercultural para fortalecer los programas de la parroquia
para atender a las necesidades únicas de esta
comunidad . El
candidato deberá ser bilingüe, hablando inglés y español con fluidez.
Excelentes cualidades de liderazgo, fuertes habilidades de comunicación, la competencia en los medios de comunicación social y
tecnología, y la capacidad de coordinar, capacitar y empoderar a los
voluntarios son esenciales para la posición. El solicitante debe ser un
católico practicante. Una licenciatura en teología, educación religiosa o un campo relacionado o un certificado en el ministerio pastoral
es óptimo. Se prestará atención a un solicitante que está trabajando
en tal grado o tiene una experiencia equivalente. El coordinador
debe ser capaz de trabajar en colaboración con otro personal de la
parroquia, del clero y de los voluntarios y trabajar directamente con
el Pastor para dar forma al programa de educación religiosa.

Los candidatos deberán ser capaces de hacer trabajos menores de
plomería, ferretería, pintura y reparación eléctrica. Los candidatos
deben tener aptitud mecánica, excelentes habilidades interpersonales, ser capaz de levantar hasta 50 libras y ser capaz de subir una
escalera de 14 pies. Otras obligaciones también incluyen arreglar y
desarmar las mesas en el Salón Parroquial y supervisión del jardín y
servicios de limpieza. Un conocimiento general de la industria de la
construcción es necesaria. Sería preferable que el candidato sea capaz de comunicarse en inglés y en español.

Año 3: Equipando la Parroquia
REFLEXIONES
El Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo
La liturgia de hoy nos lleva a un compromiso hacia la participación y valoración consiente y activa de la Eucaristía. En muchos
lugares este día hacen procesión con el Santísimo Sacramento; en
otros ya se ha perdido esta bella costumbre. De cualquier manera, la
Eucaristía es un sacramento que pide y exige cambio de actitudes,
internas y externas. La palabra Eucaristía significa "acción de gracias". Jesús en su vida terrena vivía dando gracias y también nosotros debemos hacer de nuestra propia vida una continua acción de
gracias. ¿Pero a quién debemos dar gracias? ¿Por qué y para que
debemos dar gracias? Jesús nos enseña que es importante dar gracias
al Padre del cielo. Veamos el texto de hoy: "Después Jesús tomó en
sus manos los cinco panes y los dos pescados, y levantando su mirada al cielo, pronuncio sobre ellos una oración de acción de gracias,
los partió y los fue dando a los discípulos, para que ellos los distribuyeran" (Lc 9, 16).
San Pablo también nos ayuda a reflexionar en las siguientes
palabras de la Eucaristía: "Esto es mi cuerpo, que se entrega por
ustedes. Hagan esto en memoria mía" (1 Cor 11, 24). Y ¿qué es esto
que tenemos que hacer en memoria de Cristo nuestro Señor? En
primer lugar es hacer lo que Cristo hizo, dar de comer a los pobres,
vestir al desnudo, visitar al enfermo, etcétera. En segundo lugar, dar
la vida por los demás, quiere decir trabajar y llevar el sustento a
casa, amar sin reservas a la familia, perdonar al que nos ha ofendido.
Recuerda, no se puede comer el cuerpo y beber la sangre de Cristo y
seguir viviendo egoístamente encerrados en uno mismo.
