The custom of the genuflection is preserved now only on the feast of Christmas and on March 25, the feast of the Annunciation. The rest of the year, a bow takes the place of the genuflection. Mary, Mother of Mercy Last week we looked at why Mary is the one who knows Christ's mercy best. This week we’ll see why she is best able to bring us to Christ's mercy. At Calvary Jesus said to John, “Behold your mother.” Pope John Paul II said that with these words Jesus gives Mary as mother “to every single individual and all mankind.” He also pointed out that a transformation in Mary’s motherhood occurred at Calvary. “At the foot of the cross…Mary’s motherhood itself underwent a singular transformation, becoming even more imbued with ‘burning charity’ toward all those to whom Christ’s mission was directed.” Jesus entrusts his mother to us, and our response should be to entrust ourselves to her. Like the Apostle John, we should “take her into our home”- bringing her into everything that makes up our inner life, into all that concerns us, all our joys and sorrows, hopes and fears, plans and activities. Because Mary is the one closest to Christ, when we entrust ourselves to her, she can bring us close to Christ. She intercedes for us, consoles us, and gives us courage and strength to unite ourselves more fully to Jesus by taking up our own crosses. When we become spiritually thirsty, desolate, and tired in this, Mary carries us to the pierced side of Jesus, the Fountain of Mercy, an endless source of strength and holiness. Ultimately, entrusting ourselves to Mary leads us to Divine Mercy. ST. Summer Camp 2016 The mission of the St. Pius X Parish School Summer Camp 2016 is to offer a quality, safe, inclusive, and affordable summer experience for our students and parish families. Children of registered parishioners are also welcome to attend provided they are the correct age requirements (children entering three-year old preschool through fifth grade for the 2016-2017 school year). We offer full-time camp (from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm), regular camp (from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm) and part-time camp. Summer Camp will begin on Monday, June 6, 2016 and continue throughout the summer until Friday, August 12, 2016. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Students must be completely toilet trained to enter the camp program. Campers will be grouped according to age. Camp days chosen are on a permanent basis, and for staffing and purchasing reasons cannot be changed from week to week or month to month. However, camp days can be added based on space availability and camp attendance can be different each week.
