Men—Sign Up for Emmaus Today Are you longing to deepen your relationship with God and with our faith community? The Emmaus Retreat is based on the Gospel of Luke 24:13-35. This retreat provides an opportunity to take a step away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and to walk more closely with the Lord. The Emmaus Retreat begins Friday, October 2, at 6 PM and concludes with 5 PM Mass here at Holy Apostles on Sunday, October 4, and is held at Bishop Lane Retreat Center 7708 E. Plan Ahead for Parish Tailgate Party Holy Apostles’ will celebrate its 26th anniversary with a first-ever Tailgate Party on Sunday, September 20, from 1:30 to 4:30 PM, in and around the church parking lot. The parish will supply hamburgers and hot dogs (or bring your own meat— we will have grills available) and parish members are asked to bring their own tailgate food items and drinks. Live music, bouncy house, face painting, bubble blowing stations, bags tournaments, Frisbee golf and a 50/50 raffle are some of the activities that are planned so far. Mark your calendars now to make sure you can be there! Gratitude & Hope Committee Gives Thanks The Gratitude and Hope Committee thanks all who participated in the Ministry Fair! We had over forty ministries represented. Special thanks to the Welcoming Committee and Cookie Ministry who helped out at each Mass. We hope you felt called to become more actively engaged in all that our amazing parish has to offer! The Ministry Fair on August 15/16 offered over 40 ministries to explore and attracted many parishioners. Page 5 Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time August 30, 2015 We Share Our Blessings Register Now for Family Faith Formation This week, our Parish Tithe will be given to Holy Apostles Community Kitchen Ministry. Registration is on-going for Family Faith Formation classes for Grades 1 through Confirmation. Registration forms are available at the Family Faith Formation office, the Parish Office, the Information Center and on the parish website, thechurchofholyapostles.org under the tab, “I Want to...Get a Form.” There are two options for students in Grades 1—7: Tuesday Student Formation: Sessions will be held every Tuesday from 5 to 6:15 PM. The first class, September 8, begins with a 5 PM Mass, followed by a Parent/Student Orientation and ends at 7 PM Sunday Family Formation: Sessions are familyoriented and parents attend with their students as a family. These sessions meet on the second and fourth Sunday of each month, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. The first session will be on September 27, beginning with the 8 AM Mass. Childcare is available during the session for children under Grade 1. All 8th and 9th Grade students are invited to register for Confirmation Formation class. Confirmation Formation is a two year program, which begins in 8th grade. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated in the spring of the second year. For this transitional year only, our 9th graders will be grandfathered in and complete the program in one year. There will be approximately 12 meetings per year and will be held on Sundays from 3:30 to 5 PM. A calendar of exact dates the classes will meet will be provided at the first session. Questions? Every week we host new guests who have not come to the Community Kitchen before, and other guests who join us often. Our gathering has become a community of folks who know and appreciate the good meal and the friendship of one another. Over the weeks and years, however, some guests have moved away, some have moved to nursing facilities, some have become sick or disabled, and some have died. We miss each one. Please remember our guests and their many needs in your prayers. Christ has touched them in a way they will never forget, and they have touched us in a way we will never forget. We are blessings to one another from Christ. A Walk for Catholic Education The Catholic Order of Foresters is sponsoring a walk to raise funds to assist parents in paying the tuition costs for a Catholic Education at Montini School. The walk will take place on Saturday, October 10, at Shamrock Park (on Dartmoor Dr. between Curran and Draper Roads). Registration will begin at 8 AM with the walk beginning at 9 AM. All walkers are asked to raise a minimum of $10 (more if possible) to be eligible for the walk. All money is due the morning of the walk. Adoración al Santísimo Sacramento Si quiere ser adorador llame la oficina o llene una de las formas que se encuentran en la capilla de Adoración. Por ahora los horario disponibles son: Miércoles: 8-9 AM y 2-3 PM Sábado 5-6 PM. Veladoras en la Capilla de Adoración Si desea ofrecer una de las veladoras de la Capilla de Adoración al Santísimo por sus intenciones o sus necesidades. Pase a la oficina de la Iglesia. Fr. Sherry “Make a Difference” Award HALO is seeking nominations for the "Fr. Sherry Make a Difference Award." Since Fr. Sherry had such a positive influence on the youth of the parish, this award is for a college, high school, junior high, elementary student or even a preschooler who has through his or her ideas or actions made a difference in the lives of others. This is an hour devoted solely to being with your spouse—an intimate retreat for couples to listen and share with other each other. The atmosphere is very romantic. There is no charge for this event but it does start promptly at 7:30 PM. Please be respectful of the start time as we discourage anyone from joining once the evening has begun. Eucharistic Minister Formation Eucharistic Minister Formation is scheduled for Saturday, September 12 at 10 AM and Wednesday, September 16 at 7 PM. Both sessions will take place in the church.
