A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family,
This week you will be receiving a mailing
about our ANCHORS AWEIGH Debt Reduction
Campaign. I ask that you please read all the
information and talk about it with your family.
The motivation to do this is that we presently
spent $107,000 on interest this past year,
while paying only $50,000 on principal on a
loan that is now down to $1.6 million.
If we continue spending $150,000 on this for
the next 10 years, our debt will be just under
$1 million and we will have spent $878,000 in
interest.
If we meet the $250,000 match this year, plus
donations from the top 100 donors to pay off
$700,000 this year, $300,000 the second
year and $200,00 the third year, our debt will
be $140,000 and we will have spent
$180,000 in interest.
It is easy to see the savings, short and long
term, of $700,000 over the next 10 years that
could be used for maintenance and capital
improvements on our beautiful campus. It is
important to use our resources well and not
waste them paying interest.
Please consider the gift you would like to give
above what
you presently
give to help
us get ahead
of our situation and not
let it weigh
us down.
Have a Blessed Week!
Father Paul

Men—Sign Up for Emmaus Today
The Church of Holy Apostles, McHenry, IL
Holy Apostles Mission Day—October 17
Many of us would love to reach out and be the face of
God by serving others in need but are unable to take a
mission trip to do so. Mission Day is an opportunity for
everyone to serve people in our community just for a day.
Set aside Saturday, October 17, to work on a team of
parish members to give a hand to someone who needs
assistance maintaining their homes. Register online on
the parish website or pick up a form in the narthex.
Are you or do you know someone in our community (need
not be parish members) who needs help at their home
with cleaning, yard work/landscaping, painting, or light
electrical, plumbing or construction repairs? Let us add
your needs to our “to do” list on Mission Day. (We cannot
guarantee that all requests for help will be met.) Contact
Joe Filpi at 815-385-5673 or jfilpi@thechurchofholy
apostles.org with your requests for help.
Are you longing to deepen your relationship with God
and with our faith community? The Emmaus Retreat is
based on the Gospel of Luke 24:13-35. This retreat
provides an opportunity to take a step away from the
hustle and bustle of everyday life, and to walk more
closely with the Lord. The Emmaus Retreat begins
Friday, October 2, at 6 PM and concludes with 5 PM
Mass here at Holy Apostles on Sunday, October 4, and
is held at Bishop Lane Retreat Center in Rockford. The
cost for the weekend is $130, which includes lodging,
meals and more. Scholarships are available. You may
register after all Masses or registration forms are available in the Parish Office and the Information Center. For
more information contact Curt Fiedler at 815-3449003 or [email protected].

Divine Eucharist in the All Saints Perpetual Adoration
Chapel. and thank Him and be refreshed. Pray, listen, and feel
the peace that He gives us so lovingly. Take a break from
your busy life to acknowledge His comforting love. Jesus

Christ, every Monday at 6 PM. in Sherry Center. Doors
open at 5:45 PM. Please contact Mayra Rivas for information, to volunteer, or to donate food or supplies, 815996-0076 or [email protected]. This week we
served 58 guests. Last week we served 67 guests.
This week we celebrated Labor Day with grilled brats
and hot dogs and other summer cookout foods. We had
a smaller crowd, but that only meant that we had some
extra food for our guests to take home to enjoy. Nothing
goes to waste. We are grateful to the Marian Central High
School Girls Varsity Volleyball team, who served our guests
this week. Their service was a wonderful gift to those in
need who live in our community. May God bless you!

¿A quién
