A Letter from Our Pastor
The Papal Encyclical Laudato Si (Conclusion)
In his recent encyclical regarding
the environment and Catholic
teaching, Pope Francis
introduces a term: "Integral ecology". This term is a bit
new to me, but in reading the text, the Pope refers to
a way of approaching this issue in an effective way,
albeit in keeping with the wisdom of Catholic tradition.
As he writes, "We urgently need a humanism capable
of bringing together the different fields of knowledge,
including economics, in the search of a more integral
and integrating vision. Today, the analysis of
environmental problems cannot be separated from
the analysis of human, family, work-related and urban
contexts, nor from how individuals relate to
themselves, which leads in turn to how they relate to
others and to the environment." (#141)
He concludes the Encyclical by pointing out the new
paradigms necessary to confront this issue. His claim
is that we think too unilaterally, not being mindful of
our common origin, mutual belonging, and of a future
to be shared with everyone. The Encyclical began
with reference to St Francis of Assisi and his
awareness of the totality of the environment and
creation. Here is a great quote which sums things up:
"In calling to mind the figure of St Francis of Assisi,
we come to realize that a healthy relationship with
creation is one dimension of overall personal
conversion, which entails the recognition of our errors,
sins, faults and failures, and leads to heartfelt
repentance and desire to change." (#218)
A final message of hope is found in Paragraph 205:
"Yet all is not lost. Human beings, while capable of

Eucharistic Adoration
Sacred Heart of Jesus provides the opportunity for
Eucharistic Adoration every Thursday from 8 am to
10 pm in the Parish Center Chapel. We ask for a
certain level of respect for the property during this
time. We would ask that there be NO unattended
children in the Parish Center. This is especially true
after the office closes at 4 pm. This is disruptive to
those wishing to pray, and disrespectful of the
property which we all share. We are asking your help
with this problem. If it persists, we will have to look at
the status of the practice of Adoration. Thank you!

Over the years, I have heard people say things that
point to the mediocrity of our spiritual practice: the
way that we tend to judge, compare and contrast with
others and the avoidance of the hard work, the
fortitude it takes to change our lives for the better.
"I got nothing out of this", says the person who went to
church one time. Do you go to a department store
only once because they did not have what you wanted
that day? "I wish my life were better." Do you know
what better is? Are you waiting for someone to make it
better? "Meditation is a waste of time." But some of
the other things you do are not? "I prefer to be by
myself"." Do you know the difference between solitude
and isolation? "Thank God I am not like that
person." Maybe they are saying the same about you?

Carta de Nuestro Pastor
La encíclica papal "LAUDATO SI" (Conclusión)
En su reciente encíclica en relación con el medio ambiente y la enseñanza católica, el Papa
Francisco introduce un término "ecología Integral". Este término es un poco nuevo para mí, pero en la
lectura del texto, el Papa se refiere a una forma de abordar este problema de una manera eficaz, aunque de
acuerdo con la sabiduría de la tradición católica. Como él mismo escribe: "Necesitamos con urgencia
un humanismo capaz de reunir a los diferentes campos del conocimiento, incluyendo la economía, en la
búsqueda de una sociedad más integral e integradora visión. Hoy en día, el análisis de los problemas
ambientales no se puede separar a partir del análisis de los recursos humanos, familiares, laborales y
urbanas contextos, ni de cómo las personas se relacionan con ellos, lo que conduce a su vez a la forma en
que se relacionan con los demás y con el medio ambiente. " (# 141)
El concepto de la ecología integral (como se indica más arriba) se introduce en el capítulo 4 de
Laudato Si. En el capítulo 5, el Papa Francisco surge con algunas líneas de enfoque y la acción. Tomando
como dada la realidad de la interdependencia humana, dice el Papa, "La interdependencia nos obliga a
pensar en un mundo con un plan común. Sin embargo, el mismo ingenio que ha provocado un enorme
progreso tecnológico hasta ahora ha demostrado ser incapaz de encontrar formas eficaces de tratar los
problemas ambientales y sociales graves en todo el mundo. Un consenso global es esencial para hacer
frente a los problemas más profundos, que no pueden ser resueltos por las acciones unilaterales por parte
de los distintos países ". (# 164) En otras palabras, estamos todos juntos en esto! Y, las soluciones se
encuentran dentro de nuestras capacidades.
Concluye la Encíclica señalando los nuevos paradigmas necesarios para hacer frente a este
problema. Su afirmación es que pensamos demasiado unilateralmente, al no ser conscientes de nuestro
origen común, pertenencia mutua, y de un futuro para ser compartido con todo el mundo. La encíclica se
inició con referencia a San Francisco de Asís y su conocimiento de la totalidad del medio ambiente y la
creación. Aquí está una gran cita que resume las cosas, "Al llamar a la mente la figura de San Francisco
de Asís, nos damos cuenta de que una relación sana con la creación es una dimensión de la conversión
personal en general, lo que implica el reconocimiento de nuestros errores, pecados, culpas y fracasos, y
conduce a arrepentimiento sincero y el deseo de cambiar ". (# 218)
Un mensaje final de esperanza se encuentra en el artículo 205, "Sin embargo, no todo está perdido.
Los seres humanos, son capaces de lo peor, también son capaces de elevarse por encima de sí mismos, la
elección de nuevo lo que es bueno, y hacer un nuevo comienzo, a pesar de su salud mental y el
condicionamiento social. Estamos en condiciones de tomar una mirada honesta a nosotros mismos, a
reconocer nuestra profunda insatisfacción, e iniciar nuevos caminos hacia la auténtica libertad. Ningún
sistema puede suprimir por completo nuestra apertura a lo que es bueno, verdadero y bello, o de nuestro
Dios-dada capacidad de responder a su gracia en el trabajo profundo de nuestros corazones. Puedo apelar
a todo el mundo en todo el mundo no olvidar la dignidad humana que es la nuestra. Nadie tiene el derecho
de quitarla. "

"Repartió a los que estaban sentados todo lo que quisieron"
En aquel tiempo, Jesús se marchó a la otra parte del lago de
Galilea (o de Tiberíades). Lo seguía mucha gente, porque
habían visto los signos que hacía con los enfermos. Subió
Jesús entonces a la montaña y se sentó allí con sus discípulos.
Estaba cerca la Pascua, la fiesta de los judíos. Jesús
entonces levantó los ojos, y al ver que acudía mucha gente,
dice a Felipe: "¿Con qué compraremos panes para que coman
éstos?" Lo decía para tentarlo, pues bien sabía él lo que iba a
hacer. Felipe contestó: "Doscientos denarios de pan no bastan para que a cada uno le toque un
pedazo." Uno de sus discípulos, Andrés, el hermano de Simón Pedro, le dice: "Aquí hay un muchacho
que tiene cinco panes de cebada y un par de peces; pero, ¿qué es eso para tantos?" Jesús dijo: "Decid a
la gente que se siente en el suelo." Había mucha hierba en aquel sitio. Se sentaron; sólo los hombres
eran unos cinco mil. Jesús tomó los panes, dijo la acción de gracias y los repartió a los que estaban
sentados, y lo mismo todo lo que quisieron del pescado. Cuando se saciaron, dice a sus discípulos:
"Recoged los pedazos que han sobrado; que nada se desperdicie." Los recogieron y llenaron doce
canastas con los pedazos de los cinco panes de cebada, que sobraron a los que habían comido. La gente
entonces, al ver el signo que había hecho, decía: "Éste sí que es el Profeta que tenía que venir la mundo."
Jesús entonces, sabiendo que iban a llevárselo para proclamarlo rey, se retiró otra vez a la montaña él
solo.

Durante el mes de Julio, celebramos la temporada de bodas y la entrega mutua que los
novios se prometen a través de sus votos. Esto se convierte en el símbolo sacramental
donde el amor mismo de Cristo por la humanidad se hace presente. Por ello, mas
importante aun que preparar la boda, es vital reflexionar individualmente y como pareja para saber si estas listo/a
para casare y sobre las que deben hablar y proveer para asegurarse que su unión va a ser una permanente, exitosa y
feliz.
Celebremos juntos este mes de las bodas con consejos y artículos para los futuros esposos, los recién casados y los
que renuevan sus votos todos los días

Sagrado Corazón de Jesús ofrece Adoración Eucarística cada jueves de 8:00 am a
10:00 pm en la Capilla, ubicada en el Centro Parroquial (oficina).
Pedimos un cierto nivel de respeto a la propiedad durante este tiempo. NO se
permite niños que no estén cuidados por sus padres en el Centro Parroquial,
especialmente después de que la oficina cierra a las 4:00 pm. Esto es perjudicial
para aquellos que deseen orar, y una falta de respeto de la propiedad que todos
compartimos. Estamos pidiendo su ayuda con este problema. Si persiste,
tendremos que observar la práctica de la Adoración. Gracias!
