A Spirit-Filled Celebration of our Heritage
and the Canonization of Saint Junipero Serra
Last Sunday on the Feast of All Saints Old Mission Church celebrated a special Heritage Mass commemorating the
canonization of our founder St. Junipero Serra. We were privileged to have Bishop Richard Garcia as our presider,
our Mission choir, and the Knights of Columbus present at a bilingual Mass calling together our entire faith
community. We were deeply honored by the presence of Pat Nulton who began our service by calling forth God’s
Holy Spirit through a Native American drum rite and Kate Zweifel blessed the service with a traditional smudging
ritual. We are interested in calling forth any and all members and friends of Mission parish that make present our
Native American community through their family heritage and history. If you are aware of a family link to our
indigenous community, here or elsewhere, we have placed a book near the front of the church where you can
record your family heritage and further information. Please share your history as you are able.

This FREE Concert is open to ALL ages! Join us to celebrate
Veteran’s Day with great entertainment and prayer.
Free-will offering will be taken.
Leading others to God’s heart is Trevor’s primary mission.
Trevor uses song, story and prayer, as the vehicle for worship,
meditation and healing.
Trevor has recorded seven albums, In This Place, Before You, the
Worship Project, Eyes to You, Christ in Me Arise, In Shadow and
In Light, and Seven Bridges Way. He has many songs published
by Oregon Catholic Press, (Spirit and Song.com) and World
Library Publications, WLP, including the Mass for the Healing of
the World, which have come from over 25 years of active ministry.
All of this work has come from a deep place of prayer and
surrender, pointing the Praying Pilgrim to the realization that we
are all loved, immensely, by our Almighty Creator. Trevor feels that
the gifts given to us by God must be returned in a good way; always
pointing back to the Giver. “We are not good because of what we
have or what we do, we are good because the Creator loves us with
an unending, unexplainable love; calling us, ‘his beloved.’”
Also, join us for a SPECIAL VETERAN’S DAY MASS at 12 noon
on Wednesday, November 11th, with music led by Trevor.

EFLECTION OF THE WEEK
November 8, 2015
32nd Sunday of Ordinary Time
Once again we hear the story
today of the widow who gave
from her meager funds. Jesus and
the disciples were seated near the
collection box and watched as
people dropped money in. Among
the people was a widow who had
very little money but gave two
copper coins. The coins weren’t
worth very much, especially in
contrast to the amount dropped
into the boxes by rich people. But
Jesus pointed out to his friends
that the woman’s offering was
especially valuable. She gave not
from her extra money, but from the
only money she had.

GIVING ALL
Trusting widows play a significant role
in this weekend’s readings. At the point
of poverty, when giving even the smallest
amount of what they had could imperil their
health and well-being, they trusted God and
gave anyway. What is important about their
giving is not what or how much they gave,
but how they gave it. Without selfishness,
they gave to help others. Their giving was
from the heart, with little hope or intention
of receiving any sort of reward or recognition
for their generosity. The monetary values of
the widows’ gifts were small, but their value
measured in the Kingdom was priceless.
There is a significant similarity between
their gift and the gift Jesus gave each of us.
The widows offered their lives for God. Jesus
offered his life for us.

This month at the Gift Shop:
We have wonderful Children’s

a gift you open again and again.
As we honor the year of Mercy we
will have select items to inspire

remind us that kindness and mercy
are a way of life. Our books for and
about Pope Francis will be in soon
– they were very popular as we are
inspired by his message.
There are beautiful hand-made
Rosaries from Ecuador made from
the nut of the Tagua tree. It is a

and environmentally friendly. Of
course there is a nice selection of
our own hand made Rosaries. We
have been doing this now for quite

In addition there is our ever popular

LA VOZ LATINA
Trigésimo Segundo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
ÑO DE LA MISERICORDIA
A

No importa a quién o cómo damos
