Third Sunday of lent
Bless Me, Father, For I Have Sinned
Confession at Lent
If you haven't gone to confession in a while, Lent is the perfect time to
reconcile yourself with God and the Church. At the Cathedral we offer
confession times on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, as well as a
communal penance service with prayers and Scripture readings, followed by
the opportunity for individual confession (Monday, March 30 from 6-7:30
pm). Or you can also make a private appointment with a priest.

Preparation for confession should include an examination of conscience,
which means you think back on sins you have committed since your last
confession. What happens during confession depends on the priest and the
person. Most people still start with the formula: "Bless me, Father, for I have
sinned. It has been (state the number of months or years) since my last
confession." If you can't remember the words or you don't recall how long it's
been, don't worry.
Simply tell the priest it's been a long time, and he will guide you through the
process. What you will experience is the healing gift of God's love, the chance
to start over with a clean conscience, and an overwhelming sense of gratitude.

one of Atlanta's Top Women to Watch and as a Women in Technology Woman of

Sansone, CFO of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, will lead Part II of a two-part

The reading from the Book of Exodus recites the Ten Commandments, the guidelines for us
to follow on the path to holiness. The readings from St. Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians
and St. John’s Gospel both describe the demand of the people for signs or miracles in order to
attain faith in Christ. Faith based on signs and miracles did not last. Only after the
Resurrection did the disciples believe what Jesus taught. For us, as Christian stewards seeking
discipleship in Christ, belief in His death and resurrection, and communion with Him in the
Holy Eucharist are the avenues to true faith and eternal life.

Retiring of the Alleluia
Each year at the school's Ash Wednesday Mass, students from Christ the King
participate in the Lenten tradition of retiring the Alleluia. Each class creates an
Alleluia banner to be placed in a box on the altar during the Mass. The box will be
closed until Easter, symbolizing the seriousness of Lent and giving the children
something wonderful to anticipate when the box is re-opened and they can once
again sing "Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia."

CATHEDRAL OF CHRIST THE KING
A note of
thanks
Dear Monsignor Frank,
We wanted to take this time to say
thank you to you and your
parishioners for supporting the
Pregnancy Aid Clinic financially
through the work of the Respect life
Ministry.
There are so many other things your
parishioners could have done with the
funds provided through this drive—
good things—and yet they choose to
invest in this ministry. Please know
how much we appreciate you and
them, though we could never say it
enough.
Without fundraising drives like the
one you held at the Cathedral, the
doors here would not be open. There
are children who are giggling,
crawling and walking today, and
women and men building better lives
with new skills and education because
of your commitment to this ministry.
Once again, we want to say a heartfelt
“thank you.” We’re glad you’ve made
Pregnancy Aid Clinic a part of your
outreach for the parish.
For His Greater Glory,
Alexandrea Shattuck, Director

Bendígame, Padre, Pues He Pecado
THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT

WELCOME FROM THE PASTOR AND
CATHEDRAL STAFF
Dear Friends in Christ,
On behalf of Archbishop Wilton Gregory, the Clergy and
staff, I welcome you to the Cathedral of Christ the King. I
hope and pray that you feel welcomed by our parish
community and that your spiritual and pastoral needs will
be met.
We are a very active parish with 5,500 families and over one
hundred ministries. We encourage our members to share
their gifts of time, talent and treasure.
Our mission statement is to “Know, Love and Serve as Jesus
Did”. This is the mission of each disciple of Christ and, if
you are new, I hope and pray that you will join us and be
part of the community of Christ the King. If you are passing
through or visiting the city of Atlanta, I hope you enjoy your
worship experience and please visit us again.
If you would like to know more about our parish, you can
visit our website at www.cathedralofchristtheking.org or
email us.
May we, this day and all the days of our lives, know, love
and serve as Jesus did.
Prayers and Blessings,
Msgr. Frank McNamee, Rector
