EPISTLE Romans 8:28-39
Brethren, we know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his
purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he
might be the first-born among many brethren. And those whom he predestined he also called; and those whom he
called he also justified; and those whom he justified he also glorified. What then shall we say to this? If God is for us,
who is against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, will he not also give us all things
with him? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies; who is to condemn? Is it Christ
Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us?
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or
peril, or sword? As it is written, "For thy sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be
slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor
depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
GOSPEL Luke 18:10-14
The Lord said this parable, "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all that I get.' But the tax collector,
standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!' I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will
be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."
If we have the faith to dive in head-first.
Our Epiphany celebration draws attention from around
the world. But at the root of this holy day is a baptism. In
baptism, submergence in water represents death to the
old ways of sin, and what follows is a resurrection — a rebirth to a new life in Christ. While Orthodox Christians
are baptized only once, as a community we commemorate Christ’s baptism every year. What better time to renew your life in Christ? What better way than through
stewardship? www.stnicholastarpon.org/stewardship
We are stewards of the first catch.

Your dispensation, only One who loves mankind.

Your Martyr, O Lord, was worthily awarded by
You the crown of incorruption, in that he contested for You our immortal God. Since he possessed

demons' powerless displays of defiance. O Christ

Saints and Feasts
Tryfon the Martyr
The Holy Martyr Tryfon
was from Lampsacus in
Phrygia, and as a young
man he tended geese. Being
filled with the gifts of the
Holy Spirit, he also healed
sufferings and cast out demons. During the reign of
the Emperor Decius, he was betrayed as a Christian
and taken to Nicea, where he was beaten, bound to
horses and dragged over rough ground, then
dragged naked over nails; his sides were burned
with torches; finally he was sentenced to beheading,
but he gave up his holy soul in his torments before
the stroke of the sword.

2015 STEWARDSHIP PLEDGES RECEIVED
(As of January 26, 2015)
Is your name here? If not, please thoughtfully consider all that the Lord has done for you and make a
pledge that represents your thanksgiving for all He has given you. Fully fill in and return the pledge form
that was sent to your home or call the parish office to have one sent to you. All good Orthodox Christians
should support their Church in a meaningful - not token - way. Ideally, pledges should be paid monthly.
