This program is ideal for private woodland
owners, farmers, individuals or groups who
want to turn the vision for the future of their
land into reality in the near and long term.
Dr. Jim Finley, Ibberson Professor of Forest Resources
Management and Director of the Center for Private
Forests at Penn State University, and Dr. Allyson
Muth, Stewardship Program Associate in the Department of Ecosystems Science and Management at Penn
State, will cover issues forest landowners face as they
consider the future of their woodland or other associated land holdings. They will discuss reasons for the
expanding numbers of private forest landowners, their
intentions for their woodland, their legacy, how few of
them have long- term plans, and tools for starting the
conversation about legacy planning.
For the second half of the program, attorney
L. Christian DeDiana Esq. will conduct a questionand-answer session about planning an estate and
preparing to pass forested and other lands on to the
next generation. Tony Quadro, assistant district manager of the Westmoreland Conservation District, will
discuss the Westmoreland Land Trust.
Open to the public
A social half hour with light refreshments beginning
at 6:00 p.m. will precede the programming.
