A Place to Belong……………..A Place to Become…………..A Place to Call Home…….
Shepherd’s Voice
Last Sunday evening after worship (25 Jan), one of our young children, Evan Rose, was
badly hurt while playing on the front stage. He and several children were playing about and with
the podium. Their play went terribly wrong and the podium fell on top of Evan. Evan was taken
to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center and then flown to the Pediatric ICU at Sacred Heart in Pensacola. He suffered a fractured orbital (over the right eye) and a very serious concussion. All
praises to God, that Evan is continuing to improve.
Accidents are a part of life. Some are predictable and even preventable. At a minimum we
can learn from them.
At Niceville, we do not have an ideal safe area for the children to play and be supervised. While
not ideal, the stage area offered an area where children’s play could be away from the older members of the congregation and in an area where parents could both socialize and supervise their
children. This arrangement has fostered positive camaraderie and spiritual growth among young
parents and young children.
Unfortunately, supervision has not been adequate. We are searching for solutions that will
keep both our elderly and our young children safe AND promote unity and fellowship among the
entire family. In the meantime we ask that children do not play on the stage at the front of the
building. W e a lso a sk tha t…
*Parents – please increase your level of active supervision of your children before and after worship services and after Wednesday evening meals.
*Adult members – you are part of the family, too. Feel free to correct, with love, any child
whose play is becoming dangerous. Have them sit or stand with you or escort them to their parent – if their behavior is causing danger to themselves or others.
*Children – be respectful and obedient to parents and adults who are looking out for your safety.

Random thoughts as we age
The biggest lie I tell myself is ..."I
don't need to write that down, I'll remember it."
Wouldn't it be great if we could put ourselves
in the dryer for ten minutes; come out wrinklefree and three sizes smaller!
Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven't met yet!
I don't trip over things, I do random gravity
checks!
I don't have gray hair. I have "wisdom highlights". I'm just very wise.
If God wanted me to touch my toes, he
would've put them on my knees.
The kids text me "plz" which is shorter than
please. I text back "no" which is shorter than
"yes" .
Of course I talk to myself, sometimes I need
expert advice.
Please continue to remember all
of our military, especially, Bryan
Carrender at Cam p Lejeune,
N.C., Tim Carrender at Fort Hood, Andrew Atchley
at Ellsworth, South Dakota, Jason Hunt at Quantico MCB, Virginia, Daniel Morphew in Anchorage,
Alaska, Curtis Thomas at Dover AFB, Delaware, &
Ryan Ehrhard in Afgh anistan
If there is anyone who needs the addresses of these
individuals let me know.
- Keri
