KLONDIKE FUN!
JAN 23-25, 2015
Sunshine, snow and plenty of hot chocolate made for a smooshingly successful T-81 Klondike campout at Camp Lowden. Falcon
patrol edged out Phoenix for the overall win, with Bull pushing them
both hard (helped by a couple Cobras). The challenging course put
together by snow sports specialist Mr. Loback included smoosh-board
and snowshoe races, fire building, pole-raising, knot tying, the tugof-war-turned-tractor-pull and of course the all-terrain Iditarod. We
ate like kings thanks to Mrs. Clair and her band of merry parents on
the cook crew. At the end of the day the scouts piled into a heated
cabin for a night of chillin’ by the fireplace. Thanks again to everyone
who came out to help the troop!

Webelos are coming!
It’s the time of year when second-year Webelos are visiting
Troop 81 with their parents and leaders as they decide where
they want to go for Boy Scouts. Please let ‘em know what we’re
all about. Mr. Pronger and the T-81 Committee members such
as Mrs. Alfaia, Mrs. Piske, Mrs. A and I will answer the adults’
questions. If you know of any Webelos in your neighborhood who
might want to check out 81, please send them our way.
Thanks,
Jim Webb, committee chair
ATTENTION: Eagle Scouts
2014 Eagle Dinner Banquet
Friday, Feb 20, 2015
Each year our council honors all the Eagle Scouts
that earned the Rank of Eagle Scout during the
preceding year. All scouts that earned the Eagle
Scout Rank in 2014 are eligible to attend.
Troop 81 accounted for 9 of the 34 Indian Prairie
District Eagles in 2014, the most of any troop in the district. Those 9
projects accumulated over 1600 service hours.
The dinner will be held at the Sheridan Lisle Hotel (formerly the
Wyndham.) 3000 Warrenville Rd, Lisle, 60532. The 2014 Eagles
should have received their invitations. See the Three Fires Council
Web site http://www.threefirescouncil.org (Activities tab) for more
details.
Congratulations to our very own
Mr. Bill Marineau!
Mr. Marineau was awarded the Order of the Arrow’s Founders
Award. The Founder’s Award recognizes Arrowmen who
have given outstanding service to their lodge. The award
is reserved for an Arrowman who demonstrates that he or she
personifies the spirit of selfless service, as advocated by founder E.
Urner Goodman and cofounder Carroll A. Edson. Congratulations, Mr.
Marineau; this recognition is most well-deserved.
