Christmas and New Years Eve are behind us, at least for the next 10 months. Old man winter is still here, but spring is just around the corner; instead of shoveling snow, we will be mowing grass and gardening which is better than shoveling any day of the week. Saturday, February 14th is a big night for all the lovebirds. We are having a Valentines Bingo night with dinner and two free drinks upstairs in the ballroom. There will be door prizes and the Auxiliary is having a bake sale so you can buy your lovebird something sweet to eat. Come on out and enjoy good food, drinks, play bingo and win some money. Clear Spring Legion is the only place you can go that pays you 100% of the bingo money. We don’t take 1/2, 1/3, or even 1/4 of the money. We give it all back to you. We do sell a 50/50 which is all the club makes off of bingo. There is even some kind of dessert to give away like cakes, cookies or candy. We have good people working our bingo nights. You never know where you may hear bingo: Bingo at the bar, in the corner, “I won!” “Hell yeah!” bingo, and sometimes you can’t hear them call bingo. They must be shy, like me. We all have fun and that’s what it’s all about. The Tank You List To Ashley Mills for shopping the toys for tots. She really knows how to make the most out of a buck. Good job! To Jill Baum and Mary House for all the decorating for Christmas and New Years Eve. Good Job! To all our employees. Keep up the good work! To Laura Blair for helping with the children on the Santa event at the Clear Spring Legion December 13th. To Jill Baum for working the kitchen all day Sunday, January 11th. continued... PAGE 2 THE TRIPLE DEUCE Irene was sick and no one else would work. Zach helped out Jill and the two of them did a good job. To ALL the Legion and S.A.L. members that volunteer to help with the military funerals. It’s a sad time for the families, but it’s an honor, for us as volunteers, to be able to provide these services for their loved ones. Sometimes we don’t have enough volunteers, but we make do (as in double duty). With that being said, if February 1, 2015 you are called to help, please try and make it. If there’s too many, you can watch and learn to see how it’s done. When you volunteer, you get a free drink and a sandwich for helping, which is good to use anytime, from the Clear Spring Legion. Thank You. Curt Kayser, Club Manager S.A.L. Rest assured SAL members, spring is coming, sometime. With winters icy grip still upon us it seems far away. We do however have some upcoming events that may thaw us out some. On Saturday March 28th there will be a 100 club drawing and a chance to win $1000. This is always a popular event and a great time. Tickets are for sale behind the bar or you can contact me (Rob) at 1-301-730-5253 for further information. We have also received a request from the Martinsburg VA Center for the following items: Clothing (men’s and women’s), Books, Magazines, Phone cards, Postage Stamps, Playing cards, Crossword, Word find and Puzzle books. There is a refined list posted in the coat rack area of the Legion restaurant, please take note of the particulars on the list as there are “Non-Acceptable Items” as well. The SAL/Fire Co. Gun Drawing will be on June 13th this year. Tickets will soon be available. This is one of the biggest SAL fundraisers for the year. Look forward to seeing you all there. Sick Call and Relief Post Everlasting Kenneth Edward Smith, 66 of Clear Spring passed away Larry Lee, SAL is home from the hospital. The Last Man’s Club In the interest that the final roster of the LMC be accurate, I checked the returned reservation cards of the last meeting to determine those present. They are listed as follows: Andrew Dowin, Dan Fleming, Doug Gearhart, Kenneth Clopper, Daryl Shirley, Robert Carbaugh Jr., Rod Rohrer, Wm Hose, John Royer, E. Hawbaker, Carl Hawbaker, Brady Haines, Dale Hull, Ernest Long, Gerald Rubeck, Elanor Bowles, Donald Forsyth, Stephen Crist, Jesse Wolfe, Dale Binkley, Richard Yeakle, Royce Robinson, James Hutson, Thomas Knode, Phil Burgan, Carl Forsyth, Lynn Hull, Robert Skipper, Larry Michael, Gerald Lee and Michael Shirk. Please let me know if I missed anyone. Originally, some 60 plus Viet Nam vets pledged interest in joining, however, only 25 plus came to the meeting. It was moved by the club that any pledge who did not attend the 2014 meeting and do not attend the 2015 meeting will not be included in the final roster and therefore not a member of the LMC. After the meeting of 2015, membership will be closed. Thanks. E.
