If you are not receiving mail from the parish, chances are you are not registered. You are free to stop by the Parish Office to become a registered member of All Saints. Parish registration is required to be a Baptismal Godparent or Confirmation Sponsor. You may also visit our website at www.allsaintsvachurch.org. A Message from our Pastor 2015 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal Begins! St. Paul in 1 Corinthians 7 tells us to be free of anxieties that prevent us from serving the Lord. No matter whether we are married, single, a priest, or religious, we find the path to God in the vocation in life to which God has called us. The laity are not called to live in a monastery. The laity are to bring the leaven of the Gospel into their homes and workplaces, into the social, economic, and political realms of a world created by God, but broken by human sinfulness. The remedy for sin is the Good News that the death and resurrection of Jesus has the power to heal both individual and social sin. Next weekend, each family in our parish will be asked to complete a Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA) pledge form at Mass. If you have already donated through the mail or online or are not able to participate, there will be places to note that on the form. Please read the newsletter being distributed with today’s bulletin that contains detailed information about how the BLA funds are distributed throughout our diocese. Please prayerfully consider making a pledge to support the many programs and ministries that serve the people of our diocese. Every pledge is important! Thank you! In today’s Gospel passage, the unclean spirit says of Jesus, “I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” While the unclean spirit may be uttering the truth, the unclean spirit does not believe the impact of that statement and how it calls one to a transformation of life. We are called to belief, for that belief will change us and change the world. Thank you to Dave Lucas who coordinated our parish representation at the March for Life, and to all who attended the March to witness on behalf of the unborn. We had 4 buses that went from All Saints. The Spring series of Adult Faith Formation using the Symbolon video series will be on Living the Faith. Due to limited availability of the Parish Activities Center, we will have only the first 4 sessions. As in the fall, this program will be conducted as a large group meeting in the Parish Activities Center to view the video presentation, followed by interaction in smaller groups. The first session is Tuesday, February 2nd. The topic is: The Sacraments: Baptism & Confirmation. Father Lee Roos Parish Festival Since 1997 the universal Church celebrates W orld Day for Consecrated Life close to the feast of the Presentation of the Lord, February 2nd. Next Sunday, February 8th, we observe this day with prayer for the call to consecrated life in today’s world. Blessing of Throats The Blessing of Throats will be given on the memorial of St. Blaise, bishop and martyr, Tuesday, February 3rd. This blessing will be given at the regularly scheduled weekday Masses. Our February Covenant of Love “date” will include both morning and evening activities in honor of St. Valentines Day! Make this a special Valentine's Day this year by treating you and your spouse to "extra" graces by attending All Saints' 3rd Annual Mass of Wedding Vows Renewal on Saturday, February 14th at 10:00am. Children, friends, and other family members are most welcome to attend this Mass. Please RSVP to [email protected]. The Spring Festival Committee has started to take formation and will meet on Thursday, February 19th at 7:00pm in Meeting Room 2. Subsequent meetings will be on March 12th and 26th and April 16th. Consider coming to the meeting and help to make this year’s festival a memorable one. If you have any questions, please call Bruce Koeppel at 703-369-3769 or email at [email protected]. All Saints Car Raffle Many “THANKS!” to all the volunteers who came out to help with the car raffle mailing. Raffle tickets to our 18th Annual 5 Car Raffle have been mailed. Each registered family should receive 20 car raffle tickets in the mail. Proceeds will continue to help to pay for our new church and parish activity center. Talk about the raffle in conversation - almost every time, the people you are talking to will ask if they can purchase a ticket. Thanks to your tremendous support, this has become one of our largest fund raising events. Please help continue the tradition by selling or purchasing tickets. Additional tickets will be available after Sunday morning Masses at the end of March and in the Parish Office beginning February 2nd. Thank you in advance for your continued support. In Our Parish The Parish Office is closed from 12:00 noon - 1:00pm Monday-Friday. The Legion of Mary, Mother of the Word Incarnate Presidium, meets in the PAC, St. Joseph Room, on Tuesdays at 7:30pm.
