UUFG CONGREGATIONAL
MEETING ON SOCIAL JUSTICE
Sunday, February 22
The congregation will meet after the February 22nd
service for our annual meeting to vote on Social
Justice issues. Feel free to bring a bag lunch.
All Congregation members will receive an agenda and
information about the issues via e-mail or U.S. mail.
Information sessions to prepare for informed voting
began in January and continue this month on Sundays
at 9:30- 10:30 am in the Common Room.
LIVING WAGE CAMPAIGN:
A SOCIAL JUSTICE FORUM
Sunday, February 8, 9:30 am
Jeremiah Tattersall will speak with us about the local
campaign for a Living Wage Ordinance for workers
employed by Alachua County and the businesses it
contracts with. This would set the starting pay at a
livable wage as determined by the US Department of
Health and Human Services. The rate is currently at
$11.47 per hour and would immediately benefit
underpaid County workers and have a ripple effect
throughout our community with increased spending.
UUFG will vote on whether or not to take a stand on
February 22. Come to the Common Room on February
8 to learn more so you can make an informed vote.
We’re glad you decided to check us out. Some things to
know:
CONGREGATIONAL RETREAT
Saturday, February 21
Window Room: We have a little r oom at the back of the
Sanctuary for small children who want to stay with their parents, but who need to move around. Parents can sit, see and
hear the service, while children have some extra space. Don’t
forget a hymnal.
SAVE the date — Saturday, February 21 — for the
annual Congregational Retreat! This year’s retreat is
again conveniently at the UUFG! Come for Food, Fun,
Fellowship, and “f”ilosophy — the learning of “ph”un
stuff! If you’re interested in running a workshop,
please contact Carol Shelley. Help with setting up or
cleaning up would also be appreciated!
Visitor Table: We’d love to get to know you and help you
get to know us. Please stop by the Phillips Social Hall after
the service, and look for the table with the green
tablecloth.

2. Deepen the ties within our congregation
At UUFG this year, our youth have been exploring
ideas that require them to think deeply about who
they are and what they believe. Our Coming of Age

activities to strengthen the understanding of what it
means to be a UU. Youth will work with mentors to
develop and write their own Faith Statements. The

GRATITUDE BOX
The lovely quilts gracing the walls of our sanctuary were
loaned to UUFG by Gainesville quilter, Sandy Pozzetta.
Sandy is a long-time quilter in the Gainesville area and is
currently president of the Tree City Quilt Guild. Enjoy the
quilts, but please do not touch them.
Do you want to recognize
someone who has volunteered
their time and energies to our
Fellowship? Put a card in our
“Gratitude Box” on top of the
