The British Embassy in Jakarta is part of a world-wide network of 230 posts, representing British
political, defence, economic, trade, and consular interests around the world. Education is a key
strand of UK cooperation with Indonesia and Timor Leste. The Chevening Scholarship Programme is
at the heart of our education policy, helping to create lasting positive relationships with Indonesian
and Timorese future leaders. With the expansion of our Chevening Scholarships Programme in
2015, we are looking to recruit a Chevening Programme Assistant with the delivery of this flagship
programme in Indonesia and Timor Leste.
The role of the Chevening Programme Assistant is to support our Scholarships Coordinator and
Alumni Officer with the smooth delivery of all aspects of the Chevening programme. The job holder
will manage the administrative and organisational aspects of the Chevening process through the
yearly cycle and also provide assistance to our alumni engagement programme, including identifying
alumni from all over Indonesia and Timor Leste.
This position is offered on a fixed term contract until 31 March 2016.
Main duties and responsibilities
 Support the Scholarships Coordinator to deliver the organisational and administrative
aspects of the Chevening programme, from marketing, through applications, sift,
interviewing, results, support to successful candidates and pre-departure preparation,
including visa arrangements.

Provide support to the Scholarships Coordinator to effectively market the Chevening
programme in Indonesia and Timor Leste. This will include identifying priority ministries and
organisations and providing input to the overall marketing plan.

Work with the Scholarships Coordinator to deliver engaging social media content that
promotes the Chevening programme and engages alumni.

Support the alumni officer with Chevening alumni engagement, including helping to manage
the alumni group on social media. This will involve alumni database management, assisting
with preparations for alumni events and providing creative ideas for alumni activity.
Key requirements for the role







Experience in project management
Experience in events organisation
Administrative expertise
Excellent communication and writing skills in English (both oral and written, IELTS 6.5 or
higher)
Good IT skills and experience, including MS Office
Self-motivation and the ability to work under very light supervision
Strong interpersonal and team-working skills

Experience in marketing and social media is desirable
