There will be a meeting on Mon., Feb. 9th, after school in the HS Conference Center for any student who wants to participate in the Data Jam program. Attention Cast & Crew of “Fiddler on the Roof”: There will be a rehearsal for all males in the cast this Mon., Feb. 9 in the Chorus room from 2:10-3:30 PM. Please see the rehearsal schedule posted in the Theatre Lobby for other rehearsals this week. Set painting and construction for the musical is taking place on Saturdays in the HS Theatre. If you would like to participate, see Mrs. Elek or Ms. King for more information. Attention Circle of Friends Members: Circle of Friends is working hard to put on the February 13th Mardi Gras dance. Circle of Friends meet Wednesday after school in AB224. You will be making goody bags and assigning duties for the dance. Members, please get your registration forms in. Attention 10th Grade Students: Field Trip permission forms for the STEM Career Symposium scheduled for Mon., Feb. 9th, must be turned in by the end of the day TODAY to Mrs. Quirk. No permission forms will be accepted on Monday the day of the trip. Attention all Students Attending the Washington DC Trip: Your final payment for the trip is due TODAY, Feb. 6th. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Yerace for more information. Attention Senior and Senior Parents: The second and final deadline to submit pictures for the Senior Video is TODAY, Feb. 6th. Hard copies can be brought to Mr. Caprio in AB213 OR you can send a flash drive in with your child (we will give back same day) OR you can email attachments to [email protected] (you may be limited how many you can send at once) What we want: Basically, we want to have 2 sections in the video- 1)"Growing Up", which showcases elementary through Middle School pictures and 2)"High School" which showcases good times throughout 9-12 grade. We will also show each individual student and their name. For this part, we would like 1 baby picture to fade into their yearbook picture. To summarize, we would like: • • • 1 Baby picture of your child Any group pictures (more than one student) from Kindergarten through High School that capture an interesting moment/show them growing up Sr Year Photos up to this point If you have already sent in pictures, feel free to send in more. All pictures will be returned at the Senior Banquet on Wed., June 3rd. If you are not attending, your child can stop in Room AB213 and pick them up before that night. Attention All Seniors: Any senior who has applied to Ohio State may want to stop in the guidance office for a scholarship application for the Three Rivers Buckeye Scholarship. Attention All Students: The Baseball Team is looking for an announcer. Get paid to announce your Lions and add commentary to games. See Mr. Caprio if you are interested. Attention All Students: Spring sports signups are going on now! Sign up in the Athletic Office by February 25th. Sports include: softball, baseball, boys tennis, and track. See Mrs. Demynan in the Athletic Office for the appropriate forms. THE SPRING SPORT SEASON BEGINS MONDAY, MARCH 2, 2015. Attention Seniors: The list of scholarships has been updated. Please stop in the Guidance Office if you are interested in applying for scholarships. Attention all Students: If you are interested in signing up for the Mini-THON in April, please go to Mr. Flannery’s room to get your signup forms. All money raised from the event will go to support the Four Diamonds Fund to fight childhood cancer. Last year we had thirty teams and over 250 students participate and raised over $21,000, and we hope to see you at this year’s event! A reminder to all team captains that you should be getting your team members signed up on DonorDrive as soon as possible. Congratulations to the French and Spanish students who competed at the Slippery Rock University World Languages Competition in January. South Fayette placed 3rd in French 2, 2nd in French 4, and 1st in French 5, putting them in 2nd place overall for French. South Fayette also placed 3rd in Spanish 3, 3rd in Spanish 4, and 1st in Spanish 5, putting them in 3rd place overall for Spanish. Great job, you worldly Lions! Attention All Students and Parents: Are you considering taking an AP class next year? All are invited to attend AP Information Night at the HS Conference Center on Wed., Feb. 11th from 7:00-8:30 PM. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Advanced Placement courses that are offered at the high school. The evening will begin with a general information session regarding all AP courses, and culminate with the opportunity for students and parents to talk with the individual AP teachers regarding specific courses. Attendees will leave ready to make informed decisions in scheduling courses for the upcoming year! The Guidance Counselors will also be available for consultation. Attention All Students and Parents: Donate to the “Blizzard Bag Food Drive”. Many times when it snows, Meals on Wheels has to close down, leaving recipients with little to eat. Food donations are requested to make “Blizzard Bags” for local Meals on Wheels to deliver during the winter months. Students can bring in food items to their English classes. This six-week course, designed and taught by high school students, is a great introduction to Python. You will learn basic concepts of coding while building games like Tetris. During the course, you will be introduced to game designers and visit a game design studio to learn more about the gaming industry. Space is limited. Attention All Students: Not able to stay after school for math tutoring? If you need to get help on a homework assignment, review for a test, or just simply receive additional practice, you now have the option to do so before school. The math department is now offering AM tutoring 3 days a week.
