Events
The Glastonbury Festival will once more take place at Worthy Farm,
Pilton in Somerset in June this year.
In addition to contemporary music, the festival hosts dance, comedy,
theatre, circus, cabaret, and other arts. It is the largest greenfield
festival in the world, and is now attended by around 175,000 people.
The Church has a long association with the festival and currently the
biggest Christian group with a presence is the Church Tent or
Sanctuary. The organisation of this comes under the umbrella of
Somerset churches together and a committee of people from many
denominations meet all through the year to plan for each festival.
Seventy volunteers are needed each doing a minimum of three shifts to
staff the tent which is open day and night from the Wednesday
lunchtime to the following Monday lunchtime.
Applications are invited from people in the South West who have a
church connection, if you are interested in being part of our team of
varied and committed Christians please ask Tina for an application
form and further details.
