MAKE SURE TO BRING THE SHEET MUSIC OR THE ACCOMAPNIMENT CD. • Production Fee: $525.00 The fee includes, over 50 hours of rehearsals and training time, Cover almost all costumes, performing in 4 shows, All sets and props & License for the show, scripts & materials. Audition Instructions
1. Complete the audition form and submit with your photo and the audition fee of $20.00
2. Please make sure you arrive on time for your scheduled audition.
3. Please come prepared with all required audition materials below.
4. The Audition results will be emailed to everyone on Wednesday, 2/11/2015.
Audition Requirements
Auditions will be held on Saturday, January 31st 3:30-6:30 and Friday, February 6th 4:30-7:30 .
All actors are asked to sign up for an audition time. **Please sign up for an audition time through
the Harmonia School office.
PLEASE BE PREPARED TO:
1. Sing a short one-minute song selection of your choice. Sheet music is required. You may
bring in a CD with accompaniment music that DOES NOT contains any vocals.
2. Sing an obligation song. A sheet music will be provided.
3. Perform an one/two minute monologue, which will be distributed at the time of sign in.
4. Demonstrate some dance movements or dance and will asked to do selected cold readings
from Les Miserables script.
5. You might be asked to stay for the entire period of audition time.
EXPECTATIONS OF ALL SELECTED CAST MEMBERS:
1. Cast members MUST attend all required rehearsals and performances. If you are not able to
attend the mandatory dress rehearsals and performances, you WILL NOT be cast in the
show.
2. All music and speaking parts must be memorized by April 11th.
3. The director(s) must be notified in advance of any absences from rehearsals. The cast
members with more than two absences, tardiness and / or a “No-Show” will be grounds for
dismissal.
4. Cast members must understand that if your behavior or attitude is deemed unproductive or
disrespectful to the director and other cast or crewmembers, you will be subject to
dismissal.
5. All cast members are expected to arrive and depart on time. Showing up late not only hurts
you, but also disrupts the rehearsal process.
PARTS LIST:
BABET Member of Thenardier’s gang of thieves. Physically frail. Babet is lean and cunning.
BAMATABOIS Bamatabois is the “customer” who taunts Fantine into violence. He is dressed in
expensive clothes. He is wealthy dissolute young man who thinks of himself as a gentleman.
BISHOPE OF DIGNE The Bishop is a good man who saves Valjean with his compassion. The Bishop of
Digne’s compassion establishes the premise of the show.
BRUJON Member of Thenardier’s gang of thieves. Physically very strong. A genuine gangster, he is
stupid and evil.
CHAIN GANG The Chain Gang consists of Jean Valjean’s fellow prisoners. There are four soloists
(indicated as convict 1, 2, 3, 4)
CLAQUESOUS Member of Thenardier’s gang of thieves. Tough, dangerous and secretive. COMBEFERRE Member of the ABC Society. The philosopher and believer in peace.
CONSTABLE 1 & 2 There are two Constables with solos in the show. COSETTE The beautiful daughter of Fantine. She is strong willed and loving. She is an intelligent,
inquiring, personable girl. Once adopted by Valjean, Cosette lives a comfortable, if secluded life.
She is challenging to Valjean, behaving always with imagination and dignity.
COURFEYRAC Member of the ABC Society. A student, youthful, passionate and fearless.
ENJOLRAS The student leader. Handsome, brave and daring. On the barricade, this character should
dominate everyone else. Must lead the students to fight and ultimately die. This characters death at
the barricade is one of the dramatic highlights of the show.
EPONINE The daughter of the Thenardiers. She is a young girl who is streetwise and tough, but also
sensitive and lonely. Eponine is a tragic character. She sings one of the most famous numbers in the
show. “On My Own”.
FACTORY GIRL The shop girl who fights with Fantine. She is mean, catty, and selfish. She is very
jealous of Fantine. FANTINE Fantine is the beautiful young girl who, abandoned by her lover, is left to fend for herself
and her daughter Cosette. She is rejected by society. She is a noble character, whose life becomes a
series of terrible events that rob her of her pride, character and ultimately her life. FAUCHELEVANT The victim of the cart crash. FEUILLY Member of the ABC Society. A worker, self-educated and an orphan. Affectionate, warm
and poetic.
FOREMAN The Foreman begins Fantine in her downward spiral of desperation.
GAVROCHE Gavroche is Thenardier’s son. His “arch enemy” is Javert the Policeman. He is brave and
witty.
GAVROCHE’S GANG Orphans
GRANATAIRE Member of the ABC Society. A student. He is the opposite of Enjolars. He believes in
nothing.
IMPOSTER JEAN VALJEAN AND FAMILY This is the man who Javert believes to be Jean Valjean.
JAVERT The inspector who serves as antagonist to Jean Valjean. Javert is unswerving in his belief
that men cannot change for the good. He is stern, forbidding and lacking in compassion.
JEAN VALJEAN The hero of the show. It is his life journey that we follow. He should reasonably
carry himself as mature and paternal.
JOLY Member if the ABC Society. A medical student. Eccentric and light-hearted.
JUDGE The Judge
LABOURERS The Laborer has solo lines that are a bit difficult to sing.
LESGLES Member of the ABC Society. A student. Cheerful but unlucky.
MADAME THENARDIER She is the wife of Thenardier. Together they con the world as partners in
crime.
MARIUS The handsome romantic hero of the story. He is impulsive, passionate and headstrong.
MONTPARNASSE Member of Thenardier’s gang of thieves.
OLD WOMAN The Old Woman is a nice feature part. This is the character that purchases Fantine’s
hair.
PROUVAIRE Member of the ABC Society. A student of social studies.
SAILORS Three sailors begin The Docks scene. All three have solos.
THENARDIER The true villain of Les Misreables. He should possess a wicked sense of humor. He
hates society and blames it and everyone else for all his misfortune.
YOUNG COSETTE The childe of Fantine. She is a trembling little creature, underfed, beaten and
bullied.
YOUNG EPONINE Little Eponine is the pampered daughter of the Thenardiers. She taunts Little
Cosette.

Main Stage Production
Who can audition for productions?
Typically the mainstage production feature 25-35 children. Actors must be ages 10 to 17. Actors are
cast based on their ability and suitability for the parts.

Are there forms to fill out?
Actors should submit audition registration form. The form is available on our website and at the
office.
What happens at auditions?
Those auditioning for musicals are asked to sing a prepared song. Bring sheet music and/or
accompaniment CD. Actors will sing in front of the other actors auditioning as well as the producer,
director, musical director, stage manager and others involved in the production.
Those auditioning will also be asked to demonstrate some movement or dance and will asked to do
a cold reading from the script or other text. You will be asked to stay for the entire period of your
audition.
What are callbacks?
Often directors want to see a group of actors again. If your child is called back, it does not
necessarily indicate that they will be cast. If your child is not called back, it is not an indication of
whether they will be cast or not.
What is expected after the audition?
Results will be sent by Monday, February 9, 2015. All cast members must pick up their script and
practice CD by Saturday, February 14, 2015.
What do I need to prepare on the first day of rehearsal?
Actors must begin to learn their lines and songs before coming to the first rehearsal.
