Mission Statement
We the parish family of St. Bernadette are called forth by our
Baptism to be empowered by the Holy Spirit and to follow the mission
of Jesus to Worship, to Teach, to Love and to Serve.
Hospitals no longer call the church to inform us of patients in the
hospitals. I am very willing to visit the parishioners when they are in the
hospital. If you would like to have me visit, simply call the parish office
and let us know. Please notify the office if you would like to receive the
sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, particularly before surgery. Many
times we do this at church before people enter the hospital for surgery.
Registration — New Parishioners you may register
on line or at the parish office, any changes should
be reported to the parish office.
Sacraments —
Matrimony Please make arrangements at least six
months in advance. (12 months for those under 19.)
Penance Saturdays 3:30-4:30 pm
Baptism Every Sunday 12:00 pm (Noon).
Parents need to attend a pre-baptism class on the
first Thursday of the month at 7:00pm in the
RCIA Room.
Communion For Communion (in the Home),
please call parish office.
Sacrament of the Sick In emergencies please call
the priests immediately for arrangements.
February 1, 2015 - 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Attention Ladies and
Gentlemen of
St. Bernadette Parish!
“Father Harry’s Buseness”
It is not too late to sign up to
become an official member of
the Altar Society and Men’s
Club. If you have lost the
envelope which was in the
bulletin a couple of months ago,
you can still pick one up in the
basket on the table outside the
entry to church, complete the
requested information, place the
appropriate money, and return
to the collection basket.
Thank you!
Nobody impacts you like a
mother.
Catholic Charities is looking for
experienced moms to provide
mentoring support to pregnant and
parenting young women. Mentors
enter a friendship role: they give
encouragement, demonstrate
positive parenting, and simply just
listen. We invite you to consider
giving your time and talents to
make a difference in the lives of
these young women and their
children. For more information,
contact Laurel Determan at
[email protected] or
402-829-9283, or Kathy Milbrath at
[email protected] or 402-8299289.
St. Bernadette Prayer Line
Please call Phyllis at 402-7333042 or Mary Lu at 402-7343892 to request instant prayer
for those in need.
Special Prayers needed for all
military personnel.
The St. Bernadette Website
All the information you need is
there!

1. Adult Faith Formation. A solid core
group has been meeting for the past
several years. They engage in bible study
and faith sharing. If you would like to join
the current group or be part of forming a
new group, you may call Juan Jesus at
the parish office. He is ordinarily in the
office on Tuesdays and Thursdays
2. Spaghetti Dinner Feb. 22, 2015.
Please check the sign up lists at the
church entrances. We need volunteers to
work the floor and kitchen during various
shifts between 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
We also need volunteers to provide desserts for the meal. If you are
unable to work, be sure to stop by and support this parish event. I
know that many people make this a family event and enjoy a Sunday
meal together. The Spaghetti Dinner is sponsored by the Men’s Club
and proceeds support their many contributions to the parish,
including youth sports, scouts, heating and air conditioning and high
school scholarships.
3. Hospital Notifications. Due to various privacy and HIPAA
regulations, hospitals do not routinely notify us of patients in the
hospital. You may do two things to ensure that the parish learns
about hospitalization. When you are admitted to the hospital, be sure
to identify yourself as Catholic and a member of St. Bernadette
parish. You may also call the parish directly to inform us of a family
member in the hospital. I am quite willing to visit you when you are in
the hospital. Occasionally I may also send another parish
representative, e.g. a deacon or pastoral minister, to make a visit.
4. Eucharistic Adoration. Spending an hour with the Lord is a
wonderful opportunity to calm our busy lives and regain perspective
in troubled times. You are always most welcome to spend time in
personal prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. It is not necessary to
have an assigned hour, but the discipline of a regular time is
beneficial to one’s prayer life. The board at the entrance of the
church gives the schedule of already chosen times. If you would like
to choose your own time, you may stop by the parish office to sign up
and to receive an electronic key for entry to the church.
5. The St. Bernadette 55 Plus Group has two monthly activities. On
first Fridays, they meet for coffee and rolls in the parish social hall
after the 8:00 a.m. Mass. They also meet on the first Tuesday of the
month for cards and/or board games. This meeting takes place in the
RCIA room adjacent to the parish offices. Neither activity requires
advanced sign up. If you are retired and looking for something to do
each month, please come and join us.

Ambassador Program
In a message to you last November, we emphasized the importance of word of mouth marketing as paretns share the good
news of our Consortium schools with their neighbors and friends. And we indicated that the Consortium leadership would be
giving strategic attention to fostering enrollment growth in each of our schools. We are pleased to share the news that this
person-to-person effort has now been formalized by the creation of an Ambassador program in the schools of the Omaha
Catholic Consortium.
The Ambassador program is a team of parents from each school who have made a commitment to help promote the schools
on a parent-to-parent level. Studies have revealed this to be one of the most effective ways to recruit for Catholic schools.
On January 20th, we held a Kickoff for the Schools of the Omaha Catholic Consortium Ambassador Team. We had a great
turnout from every school. The Ambassadors got straight to work and developed smaller teams to talk at many of our
Consortium parishes about their personal experiences with our Consortium schools. They will be visiting the parishes towards
the end of January and beginning of February.

Vocations
COMMUNITY ROLE IN THE CULTURE OF VOCATIONS - Pope Francis, in his November 2013 apostolic exhortation, Evangelii
Gaudium, underlined the continued need to build a culture of vocations. “The fraternal life and fervor of the community can
awaken in the young a desire to consecrate themselves completely to God and to preaching of the Gospel. This is
particularly true if such a living community prays insistently for vocations and courageously proposes to its young people
the path of special consecration.” Be not afraid to ask boys and girls if they have thought and prayed about their vocation.
“Let each of you lead the life that the Lord has assigned, to which God has called you.” If you are considering a vocation to
the consecrated life or priesthood, call Father Harry Buse at 402-731-4694 or email: [email protected].
