A Reflection from Maria Flauto:
God doesn’t call the prepared; he prepares the
called. If you think that God can’t possibly use you
think about this: Noah drank too much, Abraham
was too old, Isaac was a daydreamer, Jacob was a
liar, Leah was ugly, Joseph was abused, Moses had
a stuttering problem, Gideon was afraid, Samson
had long hair and was a womanizer, Rahab was a
prostitute, Jeremiah and Timothy were too young,
David had an affair and was a murderer, Elijah was
depressed, Isaiah preached naked, Jonah ran from
God, Naomi was a widow, Miriam was a gossiper,
Job went bankrupt, Peter denied Christ, The
Disciples fell asleep while praying, Martha worried
about everything, The Samaritan woman was
divorced, more than once, Zacchaeus was too short,
Paul was a murderer, Timothy was a doubter,
..AND Lazarus was dead!
God uses the weak to lead the strong. We’re all
flawed because we’re human. So shake off those
sins of the past (and repent!) and look ahead to what
God is calling you to do. Make the conscious effort
every day to become the best version of yourself.
Remember, even our greatest biblical leaders were
sinners who rose to sainthood! It is true that with
God all things are possible!

Five Minute Bible Study

Mark 1: 21-28
Every town of any size
in
Palestine
had
a
synagogue, a sacred building where all pious Jews
gathered on the Sabbath day (Saturday) to recite
prayers and to hear the scriptures read, and
explained by the local rabbi or teacher. The Temple
was considered the House of God. Synagogues were
called the house of the people of God.
Sometime this week, whether on your own,
while sitting at the family dinner table or talking
with friends, reflect on the following question: Do
you think someone looking at our parish would call
it a house of the people of God? What can you do
to make/keep it deserving of that title?

IT’S A MATTER OF LIFE
Mother Teresa: "Any country that accepts
abortion is not teaching its people to love but to use
any violence to get what it wants." Of the 196
nations in the world only 4 nations, America,
Canada, China and North Korea, allow abortions
past 20 weeks for any reason. Lord forgive our
nation.
