Entrepreneurs du Monde Organisation specialised in the implementation of microfinance programmes with a strong social vocation, for the most vulnerable families Active in 11 countries – Budget of € 4m is seeking a Social Performance Officer Based in Lyon - France ABOUT THE ORGANISATION: Entrepreneurs du Monde (EdM), a French association established in 1998, works with the people of developing countries. EdM enables a growing number of particularly disadvantaged men and women to improve their standards of living through integration into the economic fabric. To do so, the association acts as an incubator for long-term programmes aimed at promoting employment, especially via: Social microfinance; Social entrepreneurship; Support for creation of businesses and access to employment. As far as microfinance is concerned, Entrepreneurs du Monde provides microentrepreneurs with financial services (loans, savings, insurance, etc.) and socio-economic services, including training programmes, individual counselling, referral to other specialised agencies, etc. ABOUT THE JOB: Entrepreneurs du Monde is aiming to reinforce the social mission of its partner organisations and programmes in order for them to better serve their target population. To this end, EdM decided the creation of the position of Social Performance Officer. The appointed person is mainly tasked with providing technical support to EdM partner organisations and programmes. S/he is responsible for strengthening the institutions’ capacity to put their social mission into practice supporting them in the attainment of their social goals. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: I. Improving partner organizations’ social performance through the provision of technical assistance The Social Performance Officer’s schedule is defined based on the operational planning of partner organisations and programmes by EdM’s Head of Social Performance in conjunction with EdM Head of Social Microfinance and Head of Energy Programmes. His/her support is aligned to best practices as defined by the Social Performance Task Force. His/her tasks include, but are not limited to: 1.1. Analyzing data on beneficiaries’ socioeconomic profile so as to make sure that the organisations reach their target population and that their living conditions evolve according to organizations’ theory of change. S/he supports organizations in enhancing processes to collect quality data, analyzing and using the information in a timely manner. 1.2. Conducting surveys to assess the adequacy of products and services to beneficiaries’ needs (satisfaction surveys, need assessments, exit surveys, etc.). 1.3. Supporting organisations in developing policies and procedures to protect beneficiaries in line with the Client Protection Principles developed by the Smart Campaign and enhancing their practices through the implementation of processes to ensure organisations’ social responsibility towards beneficiaries. 1.4. Training relevant staff on survey techniques and data analysis to strengthen their capacities with respect to research methods and result analysis and use. II. Knowledge Management (20%) 2.1. The Social Performance Officer is responsible for facilitating experience sharing and learning on social performance at partner organization level. 2.2. S/he contributes to knowledge management assignments on social performance (mapping of activities, drafting of learning papers and technical notes, case studies) and s/he shares outputs through relevant channels. III. Support to Head Office (10%) 3.1. The Social Performance Officer contributes to the organisation of regional meetings and other workshops and regional training events, both on logistics and content. 3.2. S/he contributes to fundraising by approaching institutions interested in social performance. S/he answers to calls for proposals in relation to social performance as needed. The position of Social Performance Officer requires frequent travels, about 30-40% of the overall time. REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Essential: • Prior experience in the implementation of qualitative and quantitative survey methods in developing countries, • Knowledgeable about the following topics: social performance and social responsibility including client protection principles, poverty measurement, etc., • Knowledgeable about microfinance and social entrepreneurship, • Good analytical skills, • Strong autonomy and spirit of initiative, • Rigour in work organisation, monitoring and reporting, • Aptitude for team work with partners from various cultural backgrounds, Desired: • Specific expertise and field experience on one or more of the following methodologies/activities would be particularly appreciated: data analysis, poverty assessment tools. Language and Computer Skills • Bilingual French- English and excellent writing skills in both languages. • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formula and graphs, pivot tables, etc.), and good command of statistical software. Education: • Masters degree in Social Sciences, Economics or Development Studies. CONDITIONS: - Status: permanent contract (CDI) - Preferred start date: March 2015 - Post based in Lyon (France) with frequent travels on the field - Salary: ranging from € 1700 to € 2300 gross per month, based on experience - Interviews to be held in Poitiers or Paris (France).
