Fresco Cafe has been a landmark in Santa Barbara since 1987.
Originally opened as an Italian Deli, it was purchased by Mark and Jill
Brouillard in 1995 and they have created the eclectic cafe it is today.
Now, more than ever, Fresco Cafe places more emphasis on organic
and naturall ingredients.
For local Santa Barbarians, as well as visitors in search of freshly
prepared food, Fresco Cafe is a destination location. We take pride in
providing our guests with a warm atmosphere served by a friendly and
efficient staff.
Over the years Fresco Cafe has distinguished itself by winning many
Locals’ Choice Awards for the dining atmosphere, food quality and great
service.

Fresco provides chafing dishes and serving platters at no charge.
More specialized buffet table presentations are available with a service
fee starting at $125.00. Our designer will use items from your home
complemented with our display accessories. Additional embellishments
may be purchased and provided at cost, based on your budget.

Catering Misconceptions
Food is an important part of planning any event; some would even
say the most important element. Preparing to serve any size group of
people requires careful planning. Unfortunately, there are many myths
surrounding how catering a party works. Fresco Cafe has been catering
to clients in Santa Barbara for many years. Here are some of the most
common myths about catering an event.
Myth #1- The cost of catering should be comparable to a restaurant meal:
Catering an event is very different from serving a meal in a restaurant.
Catering brings the restaurant experience to your location, requiring
portable equipment, preparation, labor and transportation expenses.
Most customers find catering quite affordable – especially when they
use Fresco Cafe Catering. With many years serving the Santa Barbara
area, we provide food and service at affordable prices.
Myth #2- A plated menu is expensive in comparison to a buffet:
In fact, depending on the buffet choices made, they can be comparable
in price to a plated meal. Buffets sometimes include more food options
along with additional labor depending on the style.
Myth #3- Catered event = Rubber chicken and other dish disasters:
True, back in the ‘bad’ old days it was one of those dishes frequenty
purchased frozen or cooked badly, however chicken has proven itself
to be both versatile and pleasing to many non-red meat eaters. You
can trust Fresco Cafe Catering to always provide the freshest, highest
quality ingredients, and that extends to all dishes.
Myth #4- Serving only hors d’oeuvre is more affordable than a
three-course meal:
While it may seem that serving small bites, tapas and appetizers is
somehow less expensive than serving a plated three-course meal,
many hors d’oeuvre require extensive labor in preparation, not to
mention high quality ingredients. Though hors d’oeuvre can be an
affordable option, they should not be chosen over a complete meal
simply because of price.

Catering Questions
How will Fresco Cafe Catering staff for my event?
Passed hors d’oeuvre
Two servers minimum, up to seventy-five guests, then one additional
server for every forty to fifty guests, one bartender per forty to fifty guests.
Seated Dinner
One server per fifteen guests, one bartender per forty to fifty guests.
Buffet
One server per twenty-five guests, one bartender per forty to fifty
guests.
Stations
One server per station, one roaming server/busser per forty to fifty
guests, one bartender per forty to fifty guests.
Depending on the time of day, what is the correct number of
hors d’oeuvre per person?
3 pm to 5 pm - Light finger foods, three to five per person. Desserts not
necessary.
5 pm to 7 pm - Selection of light to heavy hors d’oeuvre, five to seven
per person. Dessert is not necessary, but may be a welcome addition.
Events running until 8 pm or later - Selection of heavy hors d’oeuvre
seven to nine per person. Desserts would be an appropriate option, as
it is past dinner hour.
What if I don’t know my guests preferences and diet requirements?
Fresco Cafe Catering can tailor a menu that offers smaller portions of
selected menu items that encourage your guests to sample. This is a
great way to offer more variety and the cost is at the same price point as
if they had ordered full portions of one menu item.
Do I need to pad my guest count in case someone unexpected shows up?
In most cases, you have an accurate number based on your RSVP’s.
Fresco Cafe Catering will be prepared for a five percent increase, if
necessary. No one, especially your caterer, ever wants to run out of
food.

Sweet but tangy, it is great for all Asian salads as well as a marinade for poultry.

This creamy dressing is made with buttermilk, sour cream,
