Hope you all had a great month of January, 2015. We had a great and fun guest speaker. It wasn't car related ,but it was entertaining and educating in the “ways of the Kite”. They showed us different types of kites and their applications. The K-1 Speed event was well attended and proof that we have some competitive and good kart racers. Our friend Steve Phar brought his “Lemons” Z car racer powered by a nice LS1 engine. He is hoping to reach up to 150 mph in his next race. Clif Yaussi proved to be the fastest man on the track, congratulations!!! For the month of February our guest speaker come to us thanks to Lenny Arnoth. His name is Darrel from Industrial Rubber Supply in El Cajon. They specialized in pneumatic and hydraulic custom built houses and fittings and adapters. They have great solutions for those cracking fuel lines. The run for the month is the traditional Annual Palm Springs BBQ at Jerry Petersen's condo. See attached flyer. Hope to see you all at the General Meeting Your PreZ, David Established in 1991 by the owner of Z -Whizz. The board met on January 20 at Cocos in Clairemont Mesa. The board meeting is open to all z club members. At the meeting it was discussed that we move the board meeting to the same first Tuesday of the month as the general meeting and meet at 6:00 pm. The board voted and we all agreed to move the board meeting to the new date and time. The general meeting time will stay the same at 7:00 pm. We had a good turn out at K1 Speed; we had 10 or 11 members in the race with Cliff Yaussi winning the race. Cliff also had the fastest lap time of the race. Great job Cliff! From K1 we walked a few blocks to Cuatro Milpas Mexican Restaurant. Wow talk about good Mexican food! Don't be fooled by the long line, the line moves quick. They have their steps down, it's like an assembly line at the counter. I would recommend anything on their menu. Be warned, they do close when they run out of food. Our next club event is on February 7 this is our annual Palm Springs drive to Jerry Peterson's condo for a barbecue lunch. Don't forget to bring a side dish. We will be meeting at the Chevron Gas Station, 9936 Mercy Rd and Poway Parkway at 8:30am. For North county, meet at the Deer Springs Rd Park-n-Ride at 9:00am. See you there! Our next general meeting is on February 3 with the board meeting the same evening at 6:00 pm at the Denny's in Clairemont Mesa Square. See everyone Tuesday at the general meeting. ZCSD Cuatro Milpas Lunch After a fun day of racing at K-1 Motorsports we did about 30 minutes in line . That was all he had to wait before we had some of the best Mexican food we could ever experience. HG Motorsports Open House Our friends at HG Motorsports had their Open House on January 24,2015 celebrating their new shop expansion. Beautiful cars, raffles, tours of the facilities, Dyno runs demonstrations, food trucks. Congrats and keep the good work. I'm selling my baby. She is a 1978 Datsun 280z. Here are some of the highlights: + 5 speed manual (hard to find) + Solid engine with no mechanical issues. + AC blows cold, very cold (again, not easy to find) + Owners manual and all paperwork + Interior is in decent shape. Some cosmetic stuff but everything works + There is some rust on the body where they normally rust (in the rear hatch) but no other rust on the frame + Including a couple of boxes of spare parts and accessories along with a cover. + I have a checklist from Aero Auto Group (Z-Whiz) with everything that needs to be done to get this car in tip top shape. I've worked through it over the years but haven't completed everything. I'll show you what needs to be done. + In 2012 I had an appraisal done so that I could insure it with a new company. I'll provide that as well. + Never in an accident and I'll pay for a Car Fax for the serious buyer to prove it. + Clean and clear registration and title in-hand. It has a current smog cert. This isn't a show car but it is very reliable and all original. I drove it daily for several months and it never left me stranded. Now sitting in my garage (I drive it some on weekends) so I'd prefer it to go to a home that can give her some love and attention. Serious inquiries only. I'm centrally located in Clairemont just off 163/Mesa College or 805/Balboa. I am negotiable on the price but I won't reply to low ball offers. Cash only. If you are reading this, it is still available so please don't ask. I'll pull the listing as soon as it is sold.
