2015 NFL Mock Draft Round 1: 1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Jameis Winston QB – Florida State • The Bucs were willing to trade up in the draft in order to get a quarterback. Now they don’t have to. Everyone will be available for the Bucs to take but they will take a QB. They also have been showing more interest in Winston over Mariota so that is why I have him over Mariota. 2. Tennessee Titans – Marcus Mariota QB – Oregon • The Titans desperately need a quarterback and there have been some proof that Zach Mettenberger is not the future of their team although the Titans’ front office has said that they are all in on him next season. I highly doubt that and they will take the best player that they need. A quarterback. 3. Jacksonville Jaguars – Leonard Williams DE/DT – USC • I believe that the Jaguars will end up trading down because they need offensive line help a lot more then defensive help. If the Jaguars get stuck at third they will take the best player available the will make the quickest impact, Leonard Williams. 4. Oakland Raiders – Randy Gregory DE/OLB – Nebraska • Unfortunately for the Raiders they can’t trade down anymore with their pick because they won too many games and they could have really used the extra picks more than anyone else. Also, Leonard Williams told the Raiders he wanted to play for them, but I don’t see its possible they land him. Amari Cooper is also an option but I think that they will go Gregory. 5. Washington Redskins – Landon Collins S – Alabama • The Redskins defense was atrocious this season and it started with the secondary. Brandon Meriwether and Ryan Clark are no longer the safeties they used to be and desperately need some fresh legs back there in center field. Shane Ray is also a possibility knowing that Brian Orakpo is an impending free agent. The Redskins still have Ryan Kerrigan and Trent Murphy so they can wait another round on a defensive end. 6. New York Jets – Amari Cooper WR – Alabama • The Jets are stuck without another quarterback in the first round this year unless Tennessee actually passes on Mariota then I have the Jets taking him. The Jets will most likely have to take a chance on quarterback Brett Hundley in the second round. If they get screwed out of a quarterback again by having a team that desperately needs a quarterback (Cleveland and Philadelphia) then they will have to stick with Geno Smith for another year. 7. Chicago Bears – Shane Ray DE/OLB – Missouri • The Bears first option would definitely be Shane Ray and are hopeful that he falls to them. If he gets picked earlier then the Bears would most likely take either Landon Collins if he falls or Dante Fowler who I have being taken by the Falcons one spot later. 8. Atlanta Falcons – Dante Fowler DE/OLB – Florida • The Falcons struggled several times this year and is a big reason why they lost the Week 17 loss to the Carolina Panthers for the division due to the lack of pressure created. This fixes that problem. 9. New York Giants – Andrus Peat OT – Stanford • The Giants offensive line was extremely ugly and if it weren’t for Odell Beckham J.R. getting open so quickly Eli would have broken every bone. Will Beatty is going to be due a lot of money soon. So for now they can put Peat at right tackle and move out one of the guards and have the mightily struggling Justin Pugh play one of the guard positions. I also believe that the Giants may trade for a pick as well in the end of the first round to pick another guard or center especially if Brandon Scherff is still around. 10. St. Louis Rams – Ereck Flowers OT – Miami (FL) • The Rams have tried and tried again to fix their offensive line but they just cant. Jake Long is always hurt, Greg Robinson isn’t the #2 pick they though he’d be so far, and Joseph Barksdale is hitting free agency this Spring. Here’s another attempt for the rams to put a seal on their offensive line. 11. Minnesota Vikings – Brandon Scherff OG/OT – Iowa • The Vikings offensive line has been pretty bad. Matt Kalil has not been good at all and will mostly have his last chance next year. For next season Scherff can play at one of the guard spots and move on from there. If the Vikings pass on him I have the Giants trading for a pick at the end of the first round to take him. 12. Cleveland Browns – Kevin White WR – West Virginia The Browns have a bunch of problems on their roster and receiver currently isn’t one of them but very quickly can become one. Josh Gordon has been unreliable and if he fails one more drug test he’s banned from playing football. Plus, the Browns quarterbacks can use all of the help it can get and having Miles Austin, as a #3 wide receiver nowadays is not the answer. 13. New Orleans Saints – Trae Waynes CB – Michigan State • The Saints defense this year was terrible and arguably could have been the worst in the NFL and need immediate help. Trae Waynes is a big corner at 6 foot 1 183 lbs. and can go up and take away jump balls. He can also matchup with elite receivers and take away some of those 50/50 balls in the air. 14. Miami Dolphins – Danny Shelton NT – Washington • The Dolphins front four have excelled over the years with it being led by Cameron Wake and Jared Odrick. The problem for the Dolphins is that Jared Odrick has played too good as an impending free agent and will ask for money the Dolphins will not give him. If this ends up happening then the Dolphins will take Danny Shelton to be their new DT/NT and maybe make it so the Dolphins only have to rush 3. 15. San Francisco 49ers – DeVante Parker WR – Louisville • The 49ers need new route runners for Colin Kaepernick. Anquan Boldin has become too old to produce and Michael Crabtree just hasn’t produced for the 49ers. Taking a wide receiver would be a very wise decision. 16. Houston Texans -‐ Alvin Dupree DE/OLB – Kentucky • It would be nice if the Texans put someone across from J.J. Watt that create almost as much pressure as he does. Alvin Dupree is the right selection and will make a Texans’ front four an elite one. 17. San Diego Chargers – Melvin Gordon HB – Wisconsin • With Ryan Matthews as an impending free agent and the inconsistency of Branden Oliver the Chargers are in need of a running back that can stay healthy and consistent to help complement Philip Rivers. 18. Kansas City Chiefs – Eric Kendricks ILB – UCLA • The Chiefs have always needed help at inside line backer to create pressure up the middle. Now that Derrick Johnson last • season tore his Achilles before the season even started and we have witnessed how bad the backups have played its time to bring in someone. Although, Kendricks is considered undersize at 6 foot he won the Maxwell award this year and if that shows you nothing then I don’t know what will. 19. Cleveland Browns – T.J. Clemmings OT – Pittsburgh • Reports say that the Browns last year wanted to move Mitchell Schwartz to one of the guard spots. Here is how they do that. 20. Philadelphia Eagles – P.J. Williams CB – Florida State • The Eagles desperately need some help in the secondary knowing that they go up against top wide receiver talent in all 6 of their divisional games starring: Odell Beckham J.R., Desean Jackson, and Dez Bryant. Cary Williams and Brandon Boykin are certainly not your answer against this type of receiver talent. It also may be wise that the Eagles trade down with a team with a later pick in the 1st round to assure them QB out of UCLA Brett Hundley so it’s not as much of a reach. Most likely the Eagles will not give up enough to either of the top 2 teams in order to select Marcus Mariota. Williams or Hundley with a later pick will make immediate impact. 21. Cincinnati Bengals – Vic Beasley DE/OLB – Clemson • The Bengals pass rush was at times inconsistent this year. This pick will create speed of the edge and more pressure. 22. Pittsburgh Steelers – Kevin Johnson CB – Wake Forest • Cortez Allen has been extremely inconsistent and against the Colts he played so bad he was trending on Twitter. Across from is Ike Taylor who has grown to old and is now filled with injuries. The Steelers need cornerback help. 23. Detroit Lions – Todd Gurley HB – Georgia • Reggie Bush has been filled with injuries since he has started his tenure with the Lions and inconsistent while he has been on the field. Theo Riddick isn’t a talented enough back to carry a workload and Joique Bell has improved but as well cannot carry a workload. That’s where Todd Gurley comes into play. The speedy back had been relatively healthy until he tore his ACL against Auburn. If it weren’t for the ACL tear Gurley would definitely be the 1st running back off the board and a chance of landing in the top 10. 24. Arizona Cardinals – Markus Golden DE/OLB – Missouri Unfortunately for Marks Golden his college career has been overshadowed since he has been across from Shane Ray who is more talented than he is and will most likely be a top 10 pick. He has a bright future ahead of him and with 37-‐year-‐old impending free agent John Abraham its time to bring in some fresh legs. 25. Carolina Panthers – La’el Collins OG/OT – LSU • Some of Cam Newton’s inconsistency and messed up mechanics may be because of how bad his offensive line has blocked for him. Someone either needs to learn how to block or they bring someone in who can. The Panthers will do just that. 26. Baltimore Ravens – Ronald Darby CB – Florida State • The Ravens secondary just keeps on bringing in new players that seems to be undrafted rookie free agents to see if they can. Soon that long list of undrafted free agents will struggle or not be as talented. Eventually they will have to draft one in early round. 27. Dallas Cowboys – Eli Harold DE/OLB – Virginia • The Cowboys just could not bring pressure all season. Especially against offenses that don’t have good protection. The Eagles and Packers are one thing but the Giants… that’s a whole another story. 28. Denver Broncos – Cameron Erving OT/C/OG – Florida State • The Broncos need help to protect Peyton Manning especially if they ever want him to come back. Also, Erving can play all 5 offensive line positions so that definitely helps in case of an injury to slide him somewhere else. 29. Indianapolis Colts – Eddie Goldman DT – Florida State • The Colts struggled stopping the run all season and had trouble disrupting the passer as well. The front four isn’t great but Jonathan Newsome is showing signs of a future but a slow downfall to the end of the career of Robert Mathis outside of Goldman. 30. Green Bay Packers – Jordan Phillips NT – Oklahoma • With B.J. Raji and Letroy Guion are both free agents. Most likely they wont be able to re-‐sign both of them and it would be smart if they took one to replace one of them. • 31. New England Patriots – Devin Smith WR – Ohio State • The Patriots receiving corps this season have done well but they don’t have a lot of talent. The Patriots desperately need a down the field threat and this is the receiver with most potential remaining to score on long deep plays. 32. Seattle Seahawks – Jaelen Strong – Arizona State • Before the Seahawks traded Percy Harvin they needed receivers. Now they just need a receiver even more. Strong is dual threat wide receiver that is a playmaker and will come down with jump balls. Watch his game-‐winning touchdown against USC and tell me he has no potential.
