Prophetia: richiama il carattere profetico della
vita consacrata che «si configura come una
speciale forma di partecipazione alla funzione
profetica di Cristo, comunicata dallo Spirito a
tutto il Popolo di Dio» (VC 84). Si può parlare
di un autentico ministero profetico, che nasce
dalla Parola e si nutre della Parola di Dio,
accolta e vissuta nelle varie circostanze della
vita. La funzione si esplicita nella denuncia
coraggiosa, nell'annuncio di nuove «visite» di
Dio e «con l'esplorazione di vie nuove per
attuare il Vangelo nella storia, in vista del Regno
di Dio» (ib.).
Vita consacrata in Ecclesia hodie
Evangelium, Prophetia, Spes
Una colomba sostiene sulla sua ala un globo
poliedrico, mentre si adagia sulle acque da cui
si levano tre stelle, custodite dall'altra ala.
Spes: ricorda il compimento ultimo del mistero
cristiano. Viviamo in tempi di incertezze diffuse
e di scarsità di progetti ad ampio orizzonte:
la speranza mostra la sua fragilità culturale e
sociale, l'orizzonte è oscuro perché «sembrano
spesso smarrite le tracce di Dio» (VC 85). La
vita consacrata ha una permanente proiezione
escatologica: testimonia nella storia che ogni
speranza avrà l'accoglienza definitiva e
converte l'attesa «in missione, affinché il Regno
si affermi in modo crescente qui e ora» (VC 27).
Segno di speranza la vita consacrata si fa
vicinanza e misericordia, parabola di futuro e
libertà da ogni idolatria.
Il Logo per l'anno della vita consacrata, esprime
per simboli i valori fondamentali della vita
consacrata. In essa si riconosce l' «opera
incessante dello Spirito Santo, che nel corso dei
secoli dispiega le ricchezze della pratica dei
consigli evangelici attraverso i molteplici
carismi, e anche per questa via rende
perennemente presente nella Chiesa e nel
mondo, nel tempo e nello spazio, il mistero di
Cristo» (VC 5).
«Animati dalla carità che lo Spirito Santo
infonde nei cuori» (Rm 5,5) i consacrati e le
consacrate abbracciano perciò l'universo e
diventano memoria dell’amore trinitario,
mediatori di comunione e di unità, sentinelle
oranti sul crinale della storia, solidali con
l’umanità nei suoi affanni e nella ricerca
silenziosa dello Spirito.
Nel segno grafico che profila la colomba
s’intuisce l’arabo Pace: un richiamo alla
vocazione della vita consacrata ad essere
esempio di riconciliazione universale in Cristo.
Il lemma dona ulteriore risalto a identità e
orizzonti, esperienza e ideali, grazia e cammino
che la vita consacrata ha vissuto e continua a
vivere nella Chiesa come popolo di Dio, nel
pellegrinare delle genti e delle culture, verso il
futuro.
Don Bosco diceva...
Il giovane non deve essere
amato solo, devono
sapere di essere amati.
Evangelium: indica la norma fondamentale della
vita consacrata che è la «sequela Christicome
viene insegnata dal Vangelo» (PC 2a). Prima
come «memoria vivente del modo di esistere e
di agire di Gesù» (VC 22), poi come sapienza di
vita nella luce dei moltepliciconsigli proposti dal
Maestro ai discepoli (cf LG 42). Il Vangelo dona
sapienza orientatrice e gioia (cf EG 1).

way ahead and is a source of joy (EG 1).
Consecrated life in today’s
Church
Gospel, Prophecy, Hope.
Prophetia: reminds us of the prophetic
character of consecrated life, which “takes
the shape of a special form of sharing in
Christ's prophetic office, which the Holy
Spirit communicates to the whole People of
God” (VC 84). This is an authentic prophetic
ministry that is born from the Word and is
nourished by the Word of God when this is
welcomed and lived out in the various
circumstances of life. This function is carried
out through courageous denunciation and
in announcing new ‘visits’ by God; also,
“through the exploration of new ways to
apply the Gospel in history, in expectation
of the coming of God's Kingdom” (ibid.).
The Logo for the Year of Consecrated Life
expresses
through
symbols
the
fundamental values of consecrated life. In it
we recognize the “unceasing work of the
Holy Spirit, who in every age shows forth
the richness of the practice of the
evangelical counsels through a multiplicity
of charisms. In this way too he makes ever
present in the Church and in the world, in
time and space, the mystery of Christ”
(VC 5).
Spes: reminds us of the ultimate fulfillment
of the Christian mystery. We are living
through an era that is characterized by
widespread uncertainties and a lack of
projects with a long-term vision: hope is
needed in a context of cultural and social
fragility, at a time when the horizon is dark
because “it often seems that the signs of
God's presence have been lost from sight”
(VC 85). Consecrated life is permanently
projected toward the eschatology: it
witnesses that every hope will eventually
have its definite fulfillment, and transforms
the waiting “in work and mission, that the
Kingdom may become present here and
now” (VC 27). As a sign of hope consecrated
life needs to be close to people and to show
mercy; to be a paradigm of a future free
from all kinds of idolatry.
In the lines that outline the form of the
dove one can intuit the word ‘Peace’ in
Arabic: this is a reminder that consecrated
life is called to be the model for universal
reconciliation in Christ.
The headword provides a further
highlighting of the identity and prospective,
experience and ideals, grace and journey
that consecrated life has lived through and
is still living within the Church as people of
God, as it journeys together with the
different nations and cultures toward the
future.
“Encouraged by the charity that the Holy
Spirit pours in our hearts” (Rm 5,5) the
consecrated persons are therefore called to
embrace the universe and to become a
memorial of the Trinitarian love, catalysts of
communion and unity, praying sentries on
the peak of history, and to become one
with humanity in its anxieties and in its
silent search for the Spirit.
Evangelium: this indicates the fundamental
rule of consecrated life, which is the
“sequela Christi as taught by the Gospel”
(PC 2a). First of all as “a living memorial of
Jesus' way of living and acting” (VC 22), and
then as vital wisdom in the light of the
multiple counsels that the Lord gave to his

World Marriage Day
Worldwide Marriage Encounter invites all
married couples to celebrate "World Marriage
Day" which honours married couples as heads
of the family, the basic unit of society, and
salutes the beauty of their faithfulness, sacrifice
and joy in daily married life. A bilingual mass
will be presided by Archbishop Christian
Lépine. Join us for Mass on Saturday, February
14th, 5pm at Mary, Queen of the World
Cathedral (1085 de la Cathédrale St., Montreal)
followed by a reception at La Plaza Hotel (420
Sherbrooke St. West, Montreal). The evening
will include a sit-down meal and wine. Cost is
$150 per couple.
A Walk With Mary! Come walk with
Mary, as we journey with our Heavenly
Mother in leading us to Her SON, in a
leisurely walk outside the grounds of the
church, as women empowered by the faith,
and hope in Mary; followed by a small
gathering in church basement for a social
of coffee and reflection from our encounter
with HER…. We will be walking on
Sunday Morning for the early birds and
Monday evenings for those that would
prefer a later time…. Either and or both are
available for all women of any age group…
