Her funeral was last Thursday. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord … October: Month of the Rosary. October 7 was the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. The rosary is a favorite prayer of Catholics and a very powerful prayer. At St. Mary’s we will have rosary devotions each Tuesday in October (21 and 28) at 6:30 p.m. in church. Come join us to pray for your special intentions and to honor Our Blessed Mother. Aluminum Can Recycling: We are collecting aluminum cans at St. Mary’s. The money from selling them is put in our St. Vincent de Paul fund to help those in need. Bagged cans may be left by the back door of the rectory any time. Aluminum cans only please. Ignite the Faith: How Will the Ignite the Faith Campaign Benefit Youth Ministry Programs? Each of us is formed in the faith at a different time in our lives. For most of us, it was when we were children, adolescents or as young adults. We want to be sure that faith formation programs are available and applicable to today’s young people beyond the walls of our schools. Our campaign to Ignite the Faith will make sure that the spiritual flame is ablaze for the next generation of Jesus’ disciples. Which is why $200,000 from the campaign will support our parish youth ministry programs. The archdiocese will partner with parishes to provide assistance for youth apostolates. Funds from the campaign will be used to launch new programs or enhance the existing offerings at parishes. Please continue your gifts and pledges to assist us in this important work to pass on the faith to our children and form the next generation of Catholic leaders in our community. To date, St. Mary’s has raised $28,138 or 22% of our goal of $125,000. St. Francis has raised $1,360 or 3% of our goal of $50,000. Please continue to pray about how your family can help us in this important campaign. Please remember that our parishes receive 10% back on all donations made to the Campaign. This helps us pay our monthly subsidy to the Consortium of Catholic Grade Schools in our area. If you have not already turned in your pledge card, please do so. You should have received a reminder letter from Archbishop Lucas this past week. Archbishop’s Annual Appeal Update: The Annual Appeal is going on at the same time as the Capital Campaign. There is a separate space on the pledge form for that. Donations to “Ignite the Faith” help build up and sustain long -range needs throughout the Archdiocese while the Annual Appeal addresses on-going immediate needs and ministries. At St. Mary’s 20 people have pledged $3,240 (28.3%) or our goal of $11,457. No parishioners at St. Francis have made a pledge yet to the goal of $5,135. Tickets for the Small Raffle at the Golden Harvest Dinner are available in today’s bulletin. We have three wonderful prizes: a beautiful doll house hand-crafted entirely in wood, a Thomas Kincaid Christmas village and train and a Thomas Kincaid “Talking Christmas Angel”. Tickets for St. Mary’s Big Raffle are available by the doors of the church at both St. Mary’s and St. Francis.
