Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
On behalf of St. Joseph parish, I would like to thank you for
your contribution to the Diocesan Development Fund
(DDF) in 2016. Last year, we received $22,400 over the
Diocesan goal of $81,800. Your commitment to helping us
with the DDF is sincerely appreciated.
profundamente agradecido.
When I became the Administrator of St Joseph Parish, I was
told that we had a debt of $58,000 owed to the diocese. At
the same time the diocese asked me to come up with a plan
to pay this debt. After consulting with St. Joseph’s Finance
Council, we decided to use the DDF overage of $22,400 to
pay down the debt. This leaves us with a new debt balance
of $35,600.
Since we still have this debt to cover, we are counting on
your continued support of St. Joseph’s DDF during 2017.
Your generous support for this year’s DDF will help us pay
our debt and begin to set aside money for bigger projects
that will increase the beauty of our parish. Our first projects
include replacing the large baptismal font with a new
baptismal font, replacing the church carpet and renewing all
of the pews.
I’m asking for each of you to prayerfully consider
increasing your already generous support to the DDF. With
your increased generous support, we will be able to make
these projects happen. I invite you to pray with me that
through the intercession of St. Joseph, together we will
make our parish a holier and joyful place of worship.
Thank you again for your prayers and support to St. Joseph
in so many different ways. May God continue to watch
over you and your family with His blessings.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Rev. Timothy Do
Padre Timothy Do

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to
such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.
Mark 10:14
Liturgy of the Word with the Children
St. Joseph is pleased to offer the Liturgy of the Word with the
Children at the 11 am and 1 pm masses for children in the parish.
The term “Liturgy of the Word with the Children” refers to the
practice of children leaving the Sunday assembly during the
Liturgy of the Word and gathering in the Parish Center to
celebrate the Liturgy of the Word at their level of understanding.
It is important that we remember that the Liturgy of the Word
with the Children is liturgy, ritual prayer, and not religious
instruction or child minding. Children are not given activities to
keep them busy while their parents listen to the homily. The
Liturgy of the Word with the Children is ritual centered on
carefully breaking open the Scriptures. In the solemn breaking
open of the Word, an explanation of the readings, appropriate to
the children’s level of understanding, is provided by a catechist
who has met the Parish screening criteria.
Although children are taught the principles of good liturgy
(through gestures and symbols, active participation, discussion,
prayer and dialogue with God), they still participate in the
Introductory Rites, the Liturgy of the Eucharist, and the
Concluding Rites with the worshipping assembly – only the
Liturgy of the Word is celebrated separately.
This is offered for those over 3 years (potty trained) to 10 years
old. This is intended for children that are not currently attending
catholic school or in our religious education program.
Before Mass begins bring your child to the vestibule of the
church. Show your child where you are sitting so they know
where to go when they return. Your child will be taken to the hall
and then returned to the church approximately after 30 minutes.
