Dear parish family,
28 Sunday C
WE had fantastic bazaar last week! We were blessed with a nice weather but most of all blessed with your
love and support. We had a good turnout and thank you all for coming out last Sunday to participate and support our
parish family bazaar. It was a success! At the point of this writing, we don’t have yet the final figure (Please refer to
initial reports in the other page of this bulletin). Whatever get financially out of the bazaar, big or small, is already a
big win. It is additional income for the parish building fund (Rosary Hall debt payments). Again, thank you so much all
volunteers, parish workers, so many of them to name which made the bazaar possible.
Our deep gratitude to the big donors, those who pitched in to cover the raffle prizes; and several other
monetary gift donors, their donations as always made the difference for the Bazaar and thanks to the booth
sponsors. Our special thanks to the Bazaar Chairman, Karl Paulissen and Committee, especially Peggy & Cheryl for
running preparations for the Bazaar. Al Pena and the Knights of Columbus and a host of people involved, just too
many to mention that we are so grateful. It was a concerted effort; obviously we can’t do any without your help.
CONGRATULATIONS to all raffle winners (see in other page). And Congratulation to the BIGGEST
WINNER, St. Mary’s parish church – we had family outdoor fun, and the church got its much needed fund. So let’s
congratulate ourselves.
Above all, we thank the Lord God who is the source of all the blessings. Our Lord blessed us through the
graces He showered on people, who in turn share their gifts to the parish community.
The gospel reading this Sunday centered on gratitude. The leper with the grateful heart is an example to us
all, because he got full benefit, both spiritual and physical healing, from his encounter with Jesus. The other nine
failing to show any gratitude and appreciation to Jesus, missed the great riches of spiritual healing and inner joy that
come only from the divine healer—Jesus. Of the ten lepers only one of them was brought closer to God through his
illness and recovery.
The real worth of our love for God flows from our ability to recognize the countless blessings, great and small,
which come our way daily. Our coming together for the celebration of the Eucharist makes it clear that the giving of
thanks to God is an essential part of our worship and prayer life. The more we thank God for his generosity, the more
we will be open to receive the joy of His blessings. Since the whole of our existence depends entirely on His will we
should not let a day pass without thanking God for all the good things of life that we are likely to take for granted.
Blessings to you and have a good week!
Fr. Tony
Estimada familia parroquial,
28
Domingo
C
P. Tony

Garland of Mercy...
In this Jubilee Year, we are asked to
open our eyes and hearts to see how
God is working in our lives and to more
actively spread His mercy out to
others. We are creating a Garland of
Mercy with our teen group to bear
witness to our efforts to help others.
For the entire year, we are asking each
week when you do works of mercy, to write down one
or more works on the strips of paper in the ends of the
pews. Please put them into the collection basket so
that we offer up, not just our treasure to the Lord, but
our time and talent in a visible way.
Red Strips are for The Corporal Works of Mercy:
feeding the hungry, clothing the needy, visiting the sick
or imprisoned.
White Strips are for The Spiritual Works of Mercy:
Counseling the doubtful, bearing wrongs patiently,
forgiving offences willingly and praying for the living
and the dead.
Gold Ones are for the acts of mercy which we received
from others.
I know that all of you are part of spreading God’s mercy
out into the world. Please take the time to become
more conscious of it and take credit for it here before
the Lord.

GRATITUDE
Surely we can all recall at least a few days in
our lives when things were going so well that
nothing could put us in a bad mood. Maybe it
was the day a very special person asked us to
the senior prom, or perhaps it was our wedding
day. Maybe it was the day we learned that we
were expecting a long-awaited child, or the day
we got an overdue promotion. There was elation
in our hearts and lightness in our step, an
extraordinary vitality throughout the day. We
probably got on the phone right away to tell at
least a few key people about our good fortune.
This is surely how Naaman and the leper
must have felt when they were rid of their
terrible diseases. They were hard-pressed to
contain their gratitude, and although they were
both unfamiliar with the customs of a foreign
land, they had the good manners to thank the
people responsible for their cures.
