30th Sunday A
Dear parish family,
Our parish family Bazaar is already next Sunday! That day also is All Souls Day. Since it is a church feast day so somehow
it will be a good day for us to have the Bazaar. While the universal church celebrates the spiritual bond that connects us to
our departed brethren, we in a particular way celebrate our bonding as alive and active parish community. It’s our day of
fellowship and to have a family fun under the Fall Sun. Please invite all your family and friends to have wonderful time with
us.
You still have a lot of time to sell the raffle tickets, remember it is the lifeblood of our Bazaar. We still have a lot of
them. Who knows you can be a winner and enjoy the Cruise trip! We spend a little money for family fun; give time and
energy for parish bonding and fellowships then in the end our church benefits the proceeds to lessen our parish debt. The
bottom line, everybody wins nobody loses. Let’s all work hard to make the Bazaar a great success and pray that the weather
cooperates.
This last Sunday of October, is Priesthood Sunday. It is a special day set aside to honor the priesthood in the United
States. It is a day to reflect upon and affirm the role of the priesthood in the life of the Church as a central one. Each priest is
different; personalities differ from person to person. But there is only One and the Same Priesthood that all priests share, the
Priesthood of Jesus Christ. There is only one Christ who says, “This is my Body… This is my Blood… Do this in memory of
ME.” It is this “priesthood” that is honored.
Two words to sum up its significance why we celebrate Priesthood Sunday; necessity and scarcity. There is a
necessity of the priesthood because of the centrality of the Eucharist in our faith-life as Catholics. Without priests there is no
one to celebrate the Eucharist. The scarcity of priests is now becoming more alarming particularly here in the USA, that’s
why the Church set aside this Sunday to urge the faithful pray for vocations to the priesthood and give moral support to
priests, who as humans, are also are burdened and struggle as anybody else with human imperfections.
This Sunday’s gospel reminds us of the commandments to love God with all one’s heart to love one’s neighbor as
oneself which are the heart and soul of Christian morality…. These commands point out to the true path of human
fulfillment and happiness. Only in active love God and neighbor makes the fullness of community happen. Why still we
fail? The reasons might be very complex yet we cannot deny the fact that the way we “love” is way out of what “love”
really is in God’s mind. Many learn to love things and use people, instead of loving people and use things. The worst
comes when one learns to love oneself more than loving God. But we know that when we truly love as we ought
wonderful things happen. Let’s resolve and renew our love to our parish.
Blessings to you and have a good week! Fr. Tony
Querida familia parroquial,
Domingo 30 A
no somos capaces?
Decidamos y renovemos nuestro amor a nuestra
Padre Tony
