Right Here, Right Now:
Always Be Ready to Share Your Faith
It's profound to consider what hangs in the balance when we
share our faith with others. Patrick Madrid, in his highly
engaging manner, speaks from a lifetime of experience to help
Catholics effectively share the truth about Christ and his
Church whenever the opportunity arises.
CD’s are available in the Gathering Space for $3.00 each.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
Join us for RCIA!
Each year men and women embark on an
exploration of the Catholic faith. Some are
deciding if they are called into the Catholic Church;
others have been Catholics all their lives and are
now interested in discovering what this really
means. Together we witness to the fact that our
search for God is a lifelong journey, a journey on which we
make the most progress when we walk it with others and with
intention.
The RCIA Program will begin October 5!

Year of Mercy
"Awareness of the marvels that the Lord has wrought for our
salvation disposes our minds and hearts to an attitude of
thanksgiving to God for all that he has given us, for all that he
has accomplished for the good of his People and for the whole
of humanity. This marks the beginning of our conversion: it is
the grateful response to the stupendous mystery of God’s love.
When we see the love that God has for us, we feel the desire to
draw close to him: this is conversion."

leaders, we'll talk about what high school youth group will look
like and ways high school students can be involved as middle
school small group leaders, activity leaders, and maybe even
assistant catechists. And no high school meeting is complete
without pizza and drinks!
Attention Cursillistas!
There is a Cursillo Ultreya held at St. Pius X the first
Saturday of every month (except July and August). We meet

occasionally in the Parish Office.
We miss seeing you and hope that you will join us for
encouragement, fellowship, prayer and food. We have a
witness speaker and then participate in group reunion.
Hope to see you soon! Bring a friend—either a fellow
Cursillista or someone who is interested in the Cursillo
Movement. Questions? Call Pat Simmons at 630-291-8590.

Teen Choir - This is a new group forming this year which
includes any high school or college-aged singers and
instrumentalists. We will rehearse on the 2nd Thursday of
each month from 6:30-8:00 pm and sing at the second
11:30 am Mass each month. First rehearsal will be
Thursday, October 13 at 6:30 pm in the choir loft, and we will
sing on Sunday, October 16 at the 11:30 am Mass. Please
arrive at 11:00 am to warm up. Music and lots of
encouragement provided to all!
St. Cecilia Singers (Children's Choir) - The St. Pius X school
children will continue to rehearse on Wednesday mornings at
7:15 am until 8:30 am Mass for children 3rd-8th grade. Choir
Space is limited for the school choir, so auditions may be
required. Starting this year, there will also be a rehearsal
offered for the Faith Formation students on Mondays from
5:00 pm to 6:15 pm if there is interest. Singers will be able
to go right from choir practice to their Faith Formation
classes. The combined children's choir (School and Faith
Formation) will sing each Sunday at the 9:30 am Family
Mass. Please arrive at 9:00 am for warm ups. Information
meeting will be held (for both groups) on Wednesday,
September 21 at 3:00 pm in the church.
Concert Choir - This year, we are pleased to be offering a new
opportunity to the school and parish children! Since
membership in the St. Cecilia Singers is limited due to choir
loft space, Concert Choir is an after-school choir open to all
children in grades 3-8 who would like to perform a wide variety
of music and receive excellent vocal music education. We will
rehearse Tuesdays from 3:15-4:30 pm and possibly Thursdays
from 3:00-4:00 pm if we have enough interest for both an older
and younger choir. Concerts will be performed in the church at
least once per semester. Informational meeting and sign up
on Tuesday, September 20 at 3:15 pm in the church. There
will be a $60 fee to participate.
Cantors - Cantors will rehearse on the Third Thursday of
each month from 6:30-7:30 pm. First rehearsal will be
October 20. The cantor ministry is for trained singers and an
audition with the music director is necessary. Please contact
me if you may be interested in singing as a cantor.
Stay tuned! Handbell Choir for adults and children coming
soon!
