For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe! Plans to give you a future filled with hope. ‘ “Please join us as we reach out to our brothers and sisters in Christ and support St. Oliver’s Prison Ministry. In the true spirit of this Jubilee Year of Mercy, let us open our
hearts, our minds, and our prayers to those that can feel forgo en and far from the compassion of Jesus and the Church.
Pope Francis spoke to prisoners last year in Philadelphia: “Any society, any family, which cannot share or take seriously the pain of its children and views that pain as something normal or to be expected,” he said, “is a society
‘condemned’ to remain a hostage to itself, prey to the very things which cause that pain.”
“This me in your life can only have one purpose: to give you a hand in ge ng back on the right road, to give you a
hand to help you rejoin society,” he told them. “All of us are part of that effort, all of us are invited to encourage, help and enable your rehabilita on.” Such work, he noted, “benefits and elevates the morale of the en re community.
We are collec ng NEW undergarments and bags for men and women as they exit the prison system and begin their
new lives. New underwear, undershirts, socks, etc., are accepted, as well as new backpacks, totes, duffels, etc.
All dona ons can be dropped off through the Year of Mercy door in the lobby of the Family Center.
