PASTOR’S REFLECTION
Pentecost
May 15, 2016
Dear Friends,
We were given the Holy Spirit in Baptism, sealed with
the Spirit in Confirmation, and pray to become one body
and spirit in Christ in the Eucharistic Prayers. We did
not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but
the spirit of adoption that gives freedom to live as children
of God.
When afraid, cry out for confidence. When weak, cry out
for strength. Pray “Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of
your faithful,” set me on fire for people to see you today.
Take time to refresh the life of the Spirit that has been
given you. Then witness your faith like disciples and
believers throughout the ages.
Be assured of my prayers for you and for your dear ones.
May the good Lord bless you with wisdom and peace.
Please pray for me.
In Christ,
Msgr. Pablo A. Navarro

HOMELESS MINISTRY
MEMBERS AND SJN PARISH
Our next outings will be on
Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22.
We are in need of volunteers and hot food for both Saturday AND Sunday. This means rice or pasta dishes with
chicken or beef, ex. spaghetti with meat, arroz con pollo
and other casserole dishes with meat. Meatballs from the
frozen food section are easy to cook and can be added to
other dishes. Please bring these in a disposable aluminum
pan.
Hamburger soup, snacks, hard boiled eggs (cooked for at
least 10 minutes), canned sodas, cases of individual water bottles, and individually wrapped sandwiches, i.e.
ham & cheese, turkey & cheese, or PB & J sandwiches
are always welcomed.
Please bring your food donations between 2:00 and 3:00
p.m. to the church pavilion which is located between
the school and Resurrection Hall.
The group departs for the Miami Rescue Mission at 3:30
p.m. Come and share in this wonderful experience. Children must be at least 14 years of age and must be accompanied by a parent.
SJN feeds the homeless the third complete weekend of
every month. For more info, please contact Amanda La
Gra at 305-936-6281 or contact Alicia Speight at
[email protected].
BEAUTIFUL MERCY
Feed the Hungry
He who has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his
bread with the poor.” Proverbs 22:9
When was the last time you were hungry—truly hungry?
Three million children die of under nutrition worldwide
every year. That’s one child every four seconds. The
very core of Christianity is not the focus on self but the
forgetfulness of self and the focus on others. The
spiritual and corporal works of mercy are love put into
action. Too many people focus on just the spiritual
works of mercy , which are important, but we must also
live the corporal works, which focus on the physical
needs of others.
Pope Francis@Pontifex
Christian hope is a gift that God gives us if
we come out of ourselves and open our
hearts to him.

PRAYER OF
TRANSFORMATION
Loving Father,
I invite you into my life today
and make myself available to you.
Help me to become the-best-version-of-myself
by seeking your will and becoming a living example
of your love in the world.
Open my heart to the areas of my life that need to change in
order for me to carry out the mission
and experience the joy you have imagined for my life.
Inspire me to live the Catholic faith in ways that are dynamic
and engaging.
Show me how to best get involved in the life of
my parish.
Make our community hungry for best practices
and continuous learning.
Give me courage when I am afraid,
hope when I am discouraged,
and clarity in times of decision.
Teach me to enjoy uncertainty and lead your Church
to become all you imagined it would be
for the people of our times.
Amen.

Queridos Amigos,
Pídanle a
Dios que les demuestre formas de responder a Su Palabra
y a Su Plan divino. Por favor oren por mi. Asegúrense
que los tengo a ustedes y a sus seres queridos en mis
oraciones diarias. Que Dios os bendiga!
En Cristo,
Mons. Pablo A. Navarro
