Romans 10:10 Dear Friends, Happy Valentine’s Day! As we begin this Lenten Season we need to pause and recall the ways in which we have perceived God’s love throughout our lives. The Lord continues to remain with us, even when we do not feel His presence. Let’s call out to the Lord our God in honesty, faith, and gratitude; when we are in need. God is near you and listens. May God become ever more evident in your life during this Lent so that you may always remain in His peace. Be assured of my prayers for you and for your dear ones, especially during this Lenten Season. May the good Lord bless you with wisdom and peace. Please pray for me. In Christ, Msgr. Pablo A. Navarro HOMELESS MINISTRY MEMBERS AND SJN PARISH: Our next outings will be on Saturday, February 20 and Sunday, February 21. We are in need of volunteers and hot food for both Saturday AND Sunday. This means rice or pasta dishes with chicken or beef, ex. spaghetti with meat, arroz con pollo and other casserole dishes with meat. Meatballs from the frozen food section are easy to cook and can be added to other dishes. Please bring these in a disposable aluminum pan. Hamburger soup, snacks, hard boiled eggs (cooked for at least 10 minutes), canned sodas, cases of individual water bottles, and individually wrapped sandwiches, i.e. ham & cheese, turkey & cheese, or PB & J sandwiches are always welcomed. Please bring your food donations between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. to the church pavilion which is located between the school and Resurrection Hall. The group departs for the Miami Rescue Mission at 3:30 p.m. Come and share in this wonderful experience. Children must be at least 14 years of age and must be accompanied by a parent. Lent is a time for change. We can be different. We can change our ways. Admittedly it wont happen overnight. We will not wake up a changed person. It will take work. It will take effort, and most of all it will take God’s grace. That is what is exciting about Lent. Lent offers us the opportunity to turn our life around. I think we will have a dissatisfaction with some area in our life. Lent beckons us to do something about it. God’s grace is available. During this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis asks that the Church and her members live out the loving mercy that God has for all of us. Concentrate this Lent on reflecting God’s mercy in your daily life. Focus on the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.
