Contributions
Whenever we do not have a record of contributions or
when contributions have ceased, we have no way of
knowing whether someone is still joining our community of worship or not. Unless we know someone is an
Active Participating Catholic, delays and hard feelings
can result when people want to be married, when they
want their child baptized, or when they want to be a
godparent or a sponsor. We go through this with people every day. It is the Church, not just this parish,
which insists that signs of good faith commitment be
present on these occasions. Weekly contributions
makes it simple to establish and maintain a record of
attendance. This is also necessary in order to enroll
your child in our Religious Education or Sacramental
Preparation programs, and to obtain a favorable tuition
rate at a Catholic school. You must be able to demonstrate that you are a practicing Catholic—that you are
participating at Mass and contributing to the support
of the Parish. Filling out a registration form alone
does not accomplish this, but contributions on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation does. It also enables
us to thank you and provide you with a record of your
contributions for tax purposes.
SECOND COLLECTIONS
This Week - Catholic Miscellany - There will be a Catholic Miscellany
envelope included in your envelope packet. If you would like to continue your current subscription or if you would like to begin receiving this
Diocesan Newspaper, just complete the envelope, include your $17.50
and put the envelope in the collection basket in the weekend. If you do
not. If you do not use contribution envelopes, you can put your check in
the collection basket with “Catholic Miscellany” on the memo line. All
checks should be made payable to: St. Anne Church.

The Gift
The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is
nothing without work.
—Emile Zola
If you are not receiving mail from the parish, chances are you are not
registered. You MUST be a registered parishioner, using offertory envelopes to receive a Tax Donation Statement or to be identified as an
“Active Parishioner”. Registration cards are available at all entrances of
the Church or you can come by the Parish Office during office hours.
Your parish envelopes are used not only to record your contributions for
tax purposes, but also to verify your attendance at Mass. Other benefits
are: FACE (Financial Assistance for Catholic Education), no building
fees for marriage, right to use the cafeteria or gym for ministry, etc...

VISION IN FAITH
Healing Our Culture as
Living Words
June 12 to June15, 2016
Father Jeffrey Kirby
This year’s program is about brokenness
and healing, about light and darkness. It’s
about death and about living fully. It is
about encountering the Living Word in
our lives and allowing ourselves to become living words in our culture. Inspired
by various scenes from Scripture, we will
explore Jesus as the Living Word and our
call to become living words sent to heal
our culture and share the abundant life we
have received.

Adoration. The full schedule of events
are listed below.
Treasures of our Tradition
Just as the early church consecrated
women living alone in the world, today
that consecration is available to women
who take solemn vows as cloistered
nuns (different from religious sisters),
women who follow a way of life in communities called “secular institutes,” and
laywomen. Oddly, the ritual is not permitted for religious sisters. The prayers
talk about the woman’s self-gift to
Christ, and her self-gift to the Church.
Up until recent years, this was a solemn
ceremony performed only for cloistered
nuns under certain circumstances. In its
new form, we have a ritual that revives a
very ancient and little-known way of
life. Today, a woman can live independently at home, without association
with any religious sisterhood or institute,
yet be consecrated to holiness and service. Normally, a ring and/or a veil may
be given in the liturgy of consecration. It
is a rite very different from religious
profession, where the sister makes
promises or vows, and is rather an expression of approval and blessing for a
way of life already embraced. Unlike
ancient times, which valued actual virginity, the new rite may be celebrated
for anyone provided there has never
been a marriage and the woman has always lived a virtuous life.

Hospitality Drop In
Parish Centennial
Join us on April 24 to meet and enjoy
fellowship with Parishioners and guests
after all morning Masses, including
12:30PM. The members of the Little
Flowers Girls club will be serving refreshments in the cafeteria. St. Anne Little Flowers Girls club is part of a national
virtue based club for elementary school
age girls. The girls earn badges in 36 virtues while doing fun activities such as
craft, skits, group discussion and, games.
All meetings incorporate a Catholic
saint, and lessons from the Scriptures and
the Catechism. Please drop in for refreshment and fellowship.
We are pleased to announce that plans
are underway for celebrating our 100th
Anniversary in 2019. The Centennial of
any organization is a momentous event
for its members. The Centennial of our
parish is very significant. Hundreds have
been baptized here and celebrated their
sacraments. Those couples who began
the faith journey of sacramental marriage, as many as 60 years ago or more,
have fond memories of that sacred moment when they pledged their lives together. The parish has been a source of
comfort and compassion to untold numbers who have come to pray at a funeral
Mass for a person they loved. Some of
our parishioners have lived their entire
lives here and have experienced many
changes, remaining so supportive
through it all. Other parishioners have
recently arrived and seek to share their
faith and love of God in this community.
We often have visitors who come a distance to celebrate a family baptism or
first communion or to pray at a funeral
and they bring a little piece of this faith
community to their own.
2019 will be an important year for us to
remember, celebrate, and look ahead.
The Centennial Steering Committee has
been organized and is working on the
initial stages of this celebration. For
additional information, please contact
Donna Willis, Chair., at 803-324-2724.
I hope that as many parishioners as possible will volunteer to serve on one of
the committees. Presently, the Steering
Committee is searching for a Publicity
chairperson. This person will organize
and lead the Publicity Committee which
will be responsible for the design and
production of printed materials and the
press releases, photography and media
coverage for each Centennial event. If
you are interested please contact Dennis
Peasenell at (803) 327 27-1980 or any
member of the Steering Committee.
Family Promise Coordinator
This is a program for homeless families
to assist them in becoming independent.
They are background checked and get
excellent instruction and assistance in
finding a job, budgeting, health child care
and whatever is needed on their path to
independence. St. Anne’s/St. Mary’s/The
Oratory, St. Philip Neri, All Saints and
Divine Savior, along with 11 other
churches of different faiths in York
County, have provided lodging, meals
and welcoming care. Families are assisted with dinner hosting and overnight
hosting by our Catholic faith community
one week each quarter and reside during
this week at The Ark at the Oratory. We
are in urgent need of someone to fill the
position as Overnight Host Coordinator
or Assistant Overnight Host Coordinator.
It entails lining up one male and one female overnight host each night at The
Ark house on the Oratory grounds of the
hosting which occurs once every 3
months. Please consider this a rewarding and helpful position for the homeless
in the Family Promise program of York
County. Contact Sandy Leone at 803-366
-2829 or 803-448-8159, for more information.
