SACRAMENTAL INFORMATION
Lent Guidelines
The annual observance of Lent is the special season for
the ascent to the holy mountain of Easter. Through its
twofold theme of repentance and baptism, the season
of Lent disposes both the catechumens and the faithful
to celebrate the paschal mystery. Catechumens are led
to the sacraments of initiation by means of the Rite of Election, the
Scrutinies, and catechesis. The faithful, listening more intently to the
word of God and devoting themselves to prayer, are prepared through a
spirit of repentance to renew their baptismal promises.
Ceremonial of Bishops, 249). Eucharist for the sick and shutͲins and requests for hospital visitors,
please contact the Fr. Josh at 972Ͳ934Ͳ8388, ext. 6506.
MATRIMONY: Register in the Parish and become a member of the
Sunday worshipping community three months before contacting a
priest or deacon. Then contact the priest or deacon at least eight
months prior to the date of the wedding.
BAPTISM: The Baptism Class in English will be held on March 8, 2015 in
the Pastoral Center Lounge from 1:00 Ͳ 3:00 p.m. Babysitting will not
be available. (Classes may be taken before the baby is born.) REQUIREMENTS:
• Both Parents must attend the Baptism Class before the Baptism,
Godparents are encouraged to do so.
• Godparents are to be (1) fully initiated into the Catholic Church;
baptized, received 1st Communion and Confirmation, (2) be at least
16 years old, (3) practicing the faith, and (4) if married Ͳ must be in
accordance with the Catholic Church. Fasng is to be observed by all 18 years of age and older, who
have not yet celebrated their 59th birthday. On a fast day one
full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain
strength, may be taken according to each one's needs, but
together they should not equal another full meal. Eang
between meals is not permi-ed, but liquids, including milk
and juices, are allowed.
Absnence is observed by all 14 years of age and older. On
days of absnence no meat is allowed. Note that when health
or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does
not oblige. Good Friday, April 3, 2015, are days of fast and absnence. All
the Fridays of Lent are days of absnence.
Fasng, almsgiving, and prayer are the three tradional
disciplines of Lent. The faithful and catechumens should
undertake these pracces seriously in a spirit of penance and
of preparaon for bapsm or of renewal of bapsm at Easter. An appointment needs to be made for your child to be Baptized. Please call
the Pastoral Center Office at 972 934Ͳ8388, ext. 6514 to set a date. Baptisms are held most Sundays at 2:00 p. m., except on the second Sunday
of each month, when Spanish Baptisms are held at 2:00 p.m. The Baptism
Class in Spanish is held on the 1st Sunday of the month after the 12:30 p.m.

Here’s what we’ll be reading and discussing…
[email protected] Currently it is fashionable to be devoutly undevout. Religion’s most passionate
antagonists have publishers competing eagerly to market their various
denunciations of religion, monotheism, Christianity, Roman Catholicism. But
contemporary antireligious polemics are based not only upon profound
conceptual confusions but upon ridiculous simplifications of history or even
outright historical ignorance. Helping us navigate this trend, Fr. Joshua will help
us follow the thought of Orthodox theologian David Bentley Hart, one of the most
brilliant theologians of our time. Reading his book, Atheist Delusions, we’ll
discover a powerful antidote to misrepresentations of the Christian past, bringing
into focus the truth about the most radical revolution in Western history.
