All Souls Day is observed November 2 and is dedicated to those who have died and not reached Heaven. The angels and saints in Heaven pray for the poor souls in purgatory and us on earth. We pray for the poor souls in purgatory, especially those who have no one to pray for them. Some day these souls in Heaven will pray for us on earth and in purgatory. Continue to pray for our clergy, our families and each other. Allan Pierskalla 763.535.3729 Dear Parishioners and Friends, Now that we are all settled in our new places, we want to thank all of you so very much for all your thoughtful prayers, wishes, cards, gifts and of course, your care for and about us over the past years spent here at St. Alphonsus together. Your gifts were overwhelming. Thank you especially to the CCW for their wonderful reception for all of us. It was a TREMENDOUS effort and truly appreciated. We apologize for the delay in thanking everyone. With the short time we had to gather our belongings (a total of 57 years), it was not possible to write individual notes. Please know that we appreciate all that you have done for each of us over the many years. On behalf of all of us, know that we are grateful for your love and support. We will keep you in our prayers, and ask you to remember us in yours as well. God Bless you. In Christ the Redeemer. Fr. Peter Connolly, C.Ss.R. Fr. Tuan Nguyen, C.Ss.R. Fr. Joseph Stenger, C.Ss.R. Prayer for a New Archbishop Good and Gracious God, giver of all good gifts, grant to our Archdiocese an Archbishop who will unite us in our diversity and call forth those gifts with which you have so richly blessed this family of faith. May he be a shepherd after your own heart, a faithful and merciful servant, whose gentleness will bring healing and comfort and whose courage will inspire. May his life radiate gospel joy and his unfailing confidence in your providential care lead us to a renewed sense of trust. May he be a prayerful instrument of your grace in our lives, empowering us to live out our shared vocation as missionary disciples. We ask this through Christ, Our Lord. Prayer to Know One's Vocation Lord, my God and my loving Father, you have made me to know you, to love you, to serve you and thereby to find and to fulfill my deepest longings. I know that you are in all things and that every path can lead me to you. But of them all, there is one especially by which you want me to come to you. I pray you send your Holy Spirit to me: into my mind, to show me what you want of me; into my heart, to give me the determination to do it. Jesus, I trust in you. Professed as a Redemptorist 1992 Ordained to the Priesthood 1999 Hi, my name is Tuan Pham. In the long list of many Father “Pham” at St. Alphonsus, I am back again. Since Marty McFly returned “Back to the Future” on this year 2015, I feel that I have returned to the Community of St. Alphonsus after being here ten years ago. I had only a three year period with the Community. I felt a bit cheated out of the experience. However, I have been in Kansas, Mexico, Texas, and then to Illinois where I was last before returning to St. Alphonsus. If you recall; I grew up in Idaho and I left my home Country of Vietnam when I was about eight years old. It is really great to have this opportunity again to be with you and to also be a part of a new adventure in this Evangelization Team. I will not be a big part of the Parish Pastoral Team but I am familiar with it. I am not a stranger to most here, however, feel free to keep reminding me who you are when we do meet in the Parish.! Last year’s 2015 Gala was a huge success bringing in over $95,000 for our school. We were able to get Chromebooks for our 5th through 8th graders, purchase a 3-D printer that can be used by all the children, and offer scholarships to many of our families. Our goal this year is to top that … we want to reach our goal of over $100,000 which will be used to make St. Alphonsus School even better than it is today. We need everyone’s help to do that. There will be a lot of opportunities to donate your time, talents and / or treasures to this great event. You will be hearing from us throughout the year with an update on the planning progress and what items we might need from all of you. We hope that all of you will join us in celebrating a great 2015 April in Paris Gala and help us make our 2016 April in Paris Gala a huge success.
