It is rare that the Bishop is able to participate at local parishes, so I invite you to come and celebrate with him. It is my great disappointment that I will not be there because I have required Military Ministry that same Sunday. However, I am very confident that the Parish Pastoral Team with the help of Father Kempski and all of our parishioners will make him most welcome and create a vibrant Liturgical Celebration! Next week is also our Parish Christmas Crafts Fair! The type and variety of the crafts are quite amazing and will make great Christmas Gifts. I have watched their creation through this past year. SANTA will also be there for the Children and there are gifts that they can buy for their parents as well. Plentiful refreshments will be available! The Craft Fair will be open after the 4:30 Mass on Saturday and from 8:30 am to 3:00pm on Sunday so that you can attend after all the Masses. On Saturday, December 5, The Torch of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is being run from the Basilica in Mexico to St Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, will be arriving at Holy Rosary Parish where we will have a brief Prayer Service and provide food for the runners/walkers. After Holy Rosary the next stop will be in Vineland, NJ and runners/walkers are welcome to join. Please contact the parish office and leave a message for the organizers if you are interested. On that day that the Torch arrives we are also planning a presentation in the Church Hall about the history and miracles of this First Apparition of Our Blessed Mother in history. Most Catholics know something about the much later apparitions of Fatima and Lourdes, however, few have come to know about this first amazing and powerful apparition. It is truly compelling. She is Our Lady of the Americas! The Torch will arrive after the Claymont Christmas Parade, so come join us at church for both of these events! En Amor y oración, Padre Juan Our recessional hymn today is the well-known hymn, “Now Thank We All Our God.” It is a translation from the German "Nun danket alle Gott", written in 1636 by Martin Rinkart and was originally meant to be a prayer before meals. It was published with the tune by Johann Cruger in 1647. Also needed is tuna and meaty type soups. We will be collecting these items until Sunday, November 22. (Turkeys can be brought to mass. ) Thanking you in advance for your continued support. Volunteers at Holy Rosary Food Closet Giving Tree 2015 Our annual Giving Tree Project will begin on Saturday, November 21. The tree, decorated with bells, will be in its usual location in the sanctuary. We will be giving a bit of Christmas cheer to Bayard House (new mothers, mothers-to-be, and their infants), Samaritan Outreach (men, women, and children), Saint Joseph Villa (infirm and retired Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chestnut Hill), and Little Sisters of the Poor (retired Sisters and Priests). What better way to share the Christmas spirit and the love of Jesus than by helping those in need! Please take a bell or two from the tree. The bells have information about a special wish or need along with the organization requesting the gift. Please wrap your gift and tape the bell securely to the outside of the package, to assure that it is delivered to the proper organization. If you select a gift card, please place it in a gift bag. Seal the bag closed and tape the bell to the outside of the bag. We would like all wrapped and tagged gifts to be placed under the tree no later than Sunday, December 13. The agencies will be picking up their gifts on Monday, December 14 so that they have them in time for their Christmas parties. God bless you for your kindness to His children and servants. Let’s make 2015 another wonderful Christmas for those less fortunate and those who have faithfully served our Lord. A Diary of the Unborn Authors: Jenna and John Madura Hi, today starts my ninth week of life. Great News! I graduated last Sunday from an embryo to a fetus. Fetus just means “little one” or “young one” in Latin. I can hear noises now besides just my beating heart. Sure was lots of noise Sunday night. I guess they weren’t celebrating my graduation, but the 4th of July and our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I hope my parents believe life really is the highest priority because lots of us begin losing our lives about the time we graduate. One way is called Dilation & Curettage. The doctor cuts the unborn baby up into pieces with a knife and scrapes her/him out of the mommy. Because I have nerves now, I can feel pain. If you touch my forehead, I’ll turn away, pucker up my brown and frown. If I’m that sensitive to just touch, imagine the pain those aborted babies must suffer. Taken from Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day by Father Frank Pavone: Talk is cheap, and often it's worse than that. The very thing which we support in speech, we sometimes destroy by our actions. So it is with those who fail to protect the unborn. That failure contradicts everything else they say about human rights. Marriage Moments "In those days...the sun will be darkened...and the stars will be falling from the sky." (Mark 13:24-25) Jesus warns us of tribulations and all loving couples bear their share. Are you going through any current tribulation as a couple? Share your burden. If not yourselves, pray for those who are having a hard time in their marriage. Parenting Pointers "A mother's soul should always stand ajar, ready to welcome the ecstatic experience." (Emily Dickinson) Although written by a woman about mothers, could this same sentiment be said about fathers? Hopefully, yes. Check your language and family life for unnecessary gender stereotypes this week.
