ST. VINCENT DE PAUL CLOTHING DRIVE
LIFE SENTENCE
June 6 & 7
The members of the IHM St. Vincent de Paul Society are
sponsoring a Clothing Drive this weekend, June 6 and 7. This
is a great time to clean out your closets and donate those
clothes and shoes that you no longer wear to the poor in the
community. The St. Vincent de Paul truck will be parked on
the upper church parking lot and Vincentians will be at the
truck before and after every Mass accepting donations.
Donations made to St. Vincent de Paul are tax deductible.
Thank you for your continued generosity to the poor and to
work of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

It's time to tell the story.
Join the IHM Social Justice
Ministry on June 9, 2015 at
7:00 p.m. for a production of
LIFE SENTENCE. LIFE
SENTENCE is a music project inspired by the wrongful
conviction of Clarence Harrison and his exoneration by the
Georgia Innocence Project (GIP). Mr. Harrison served 18 years
in prison before DNA finally proved that he could not have
committed the crime.
INSTALLATION MASS & CELEBRATION
Saturday, June 13
Archbishop Wilton Gregory will celebrate a Bilingual
Installation Mass for Monsignor Jowdy at the 4:00 p.m. Vigil
Mass on Saturday, June 13, the Solemnity of the Immaculate
Heart of Mary.
The production will be held in the IHM Historic Church. A
reception will follow. A suggested donation of $15 is
appreciated. All proceeds support the Georgia Innocence

1:30 p.m., for a tour of our beautiful church, given by IHM’s
own Director of Liturgy & Music, Jeff Bush! Jeff will explain
the significance and history of the art and design in our
sanctuary. Meet in the Narthex at 1:30 p.m. Following the
Church Tour, we will enjoy ice tea and summer treats, so

Starting June 21
Envelopes for intentions for our Father’s Day Novena are

Here at IHM, a group of parishioners will begin St. Louis-Marie
de Monfort’s 33-day devotion individually on May 11 and will
get together as a group to do the prayer of consecration on the
feast day of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on June 13 after the
8:30 a.m. Mass. Come and join us!

FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM
June 21-July 4
WEDDING ANNIVERSARY MASS
October 3, 2015
The Fortnight for Freedom: Freedom to Bear Witness will take
place from June 21 to July 4, 2015, a time when our liturgical
calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained
faithful in the face of persecution by political power—St.
Thomas More and St. John Fisher, St. John the Baptist, SS.
Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome.
The theme of this year's Fortnight will focus on the "freedom
to bear witness" to the truth of the Gospel.
Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory would like to honor couples
married in 1965 and 1955 with an invitation to a Golden/
Diamond Wedding Anniversary Mass on Saturday, October 3,
2015, at 12:00 Noon at St. Brigid Catholic Church. A
reception will follow the Mass for the anniversary couples and

year’s Summer Reading Program is Destination: Read.
Travel around the world and visit places like the Eiffel Tower,
the Great Wall of China and Big Ben. Information can be found
on the IHM School website (www.ihmschool.org). Come visit
Mrs. Wilson in her “world of books” every Monday through
Thursday, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, June 1 through July 16. As a
special treat, the library will be open on Friday, July 17, 8:00
am to 3:00 pm to celebrate the end of the program with a
storyteller. Please note that this is the only Friday the library
will be open during the summer. The library will be closed the
week of June 28 to July 3.

2015-2016 GIFT registration is now open! We will have an early registration discount
available for anyone who registers before June 30.
GIFT Fee Schedule:
$75 per student - $200 maximum per family before June 30

(Catechists will pay $35 per student if committed to teach all year).

Are you thinking about becoming Catholic or returning to the Church?
Or perhaps you're just curious about why we do some of the things we do, or
what the Church really teaches on certain subjects. We have a small faith
community that will meet monthly this summer to help you explore these
questions. Join us in the lower level of the church from 7:30-9:00 p.m. You do
not have to register, simply come and explore the basics of Catholic faith in a

ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK
Choose one of the following activities as a
way to further reflect on the Sunday
readings:
 To celebrate the Solemnity of the Body
and Blood of the Lord, share with your child
remembrances of his or her First
Communion day. If your child has not yet
received the Sacrament, talk about what
that day will mean for him or her.
 Hum a few bars of your favorite hymn
about Jesus’ Body and Blood and have the
members of your family try to guess the
song. Sing together a Eucharist song the
family knows.
 Using plain paper place mats have your
family sit together at the dinner table and
design a place mat for each person.
Decorate each place mat with a symbol of
the Eucharist. As a family, prepare a meal in
which each person helps in the preparation.
Talk about what each person contributed.
Before eating the meal, say a prayer to
thank God for all God’s gifts and to ask God’s
blessing on all.

In a few weeks, we begin our In-town Mission Trip:
MISSION POSSIBLE #12! Please pray for us as we
prepare to begin this week of service. Every year, your
generosity helps us make this mission possible.
If you would like to help/donate for our Mission Possible
trip, we will need the following:
 Drivers who can drive youth and leaders to work
sites during the day, Monday-Thursday (June 22-25).
 Drivers to drive us to activities in the evenings.
 We need volunteers to prepare and serve us dinner
one night.

stops” after working and to assist with gas for our
volunteers.

June 7: Charitable Gift Annuities give you additional income
If you are over 65 and have $10,000 or more to invest, possibly from a CD that is coming due, you may want a
Charitable Gift Annuity which will give you higher rates than a CD, will give you a large tax deduction and provide
you with quarterly fixed payments for the rest of your life. Here are some sample rates based on your age:
Age 65 – 4.7%; Age 70 – 5.1%; Age 75 – 5.8%; Age 80 – 6.8%; Age 85 7.8%; Age 90 and older 9%. At your death
the remainder of the Gift Annuity can go to the parish endowment fund and other charities. For a personal illustration

 Y así la promesa se cumple en los que Dios llama para la herencia eterna.
 El autor de la carta a los hebreos señala la diferencia entre la antigua y la nueva
alianza.
 La sangre de Cristo fue derramada para reconciliar y volver a unir a los seres
humanos con Dios.
 Jesús es el vínculo de la nueva alianza.

importante que estés registrado
en la parroquia.
Primera Lectura: Éxodo 24, 3-8
 Ésta es la sangre de la Alianza que Yavé ha hecho con ustedes.
 La lectura del Éxodo es el relato del sello de la alianza del Sinaí.
 La alianza del Sinaí fue sellada con 2 ceremonias: una comida y un rito de sangre.
 Cada una de estas ceremonias significaba compartir la vida.
Evangelio : Marcos 14, 12-16. 22-26
 Jesús tomó pan, y después de pronunciar la bendición, lo partió.
 El Evangelio nos cuenta el relato del sello de la nueva alianza.
 Marcos asocia la copa de vino con la antigua alianza de sangre.
 En la cena de la Pascua judía, Jesús comparte una copa de vino con todos los
discípulos.
 Es la verdadera señal de la sangre compartida que sella la alianza.
En la víspera de su Pasión, durante la Cena pascual, el Señor tomó el pan en sus manos
—como acabamos de escuchar en el Evangelio— y, después de pronunciar la
bendición, lo partió y se lo dio diciendo: "Tomad, este es mi cuerpo". Después tomó el
cáliz, dio gracias, se lo dio y todos bebieron de él. Y dijo: "Esta es mi sangre de la
alianza, que es derramada por muchos" (Mc14,
22-24). Toda la historia de Dios con los hombres
se resume en estas palabras. No sólo recuerdan
e interpretan el pasado, sino que también
anticipan el futuro, la venida del reino de Dios al
mundo. Jesús no sólo pronuncia palabras. Lo
que dice es un acontecimiento, el
acontecimiento central de la historia del mundo
y de nuestra vida personal.
En la fiesta del Corpus Christi contemplamos
sobre todo el signo del pan. Nos recuerda también la peregrinación de Israel durante
los cuarenta años en el desierto. La Hostia es nuestro maná; con el, él Señor nos
alimenta; es verdaderamente el pan del cielo, con el que él se entrega a sí mismo. En la
procesión, seguimos este signo y así lo seguimos a él mismo. Y le pedimos: Guíanos
por los caminos de nuestra historia. Sigue mostrando a la Iglesia y a sus pastores el
camino recto. Mira a la humanidad que sufre, que vaga insegura entre tantos
interrogantes. Mira el hambre física y psíquica que la atormenta. Da a los hombres el
pan para el cuerpo y para el alma. Dales trabajo. Dales luz. (Benedicto XVI - Junio 15, 2006)

SOCIEDAD DE SAN VICENTE DE PAUL - DONACION DE ROPA
Recuerden que este fin de semana, los miembros de San Vicente de Paúl,
estarán recibiendo sus donaciones de ropa. Es un buen momento para limpiar
sus armarios y donar aquella ropa y zapatos que ya no usen a las personas de
nuestra comunidad que lo necesiten. Habrá un camión en el estacionamiento
durante todas las misas para recibir sus donaciones. Estas donaciones son
deducibles de impuestos. Gracias por su generosidad y por seguir apoyando
esta noble causa.
NOVENA DEL DIA DE LOS PADRES
Las tarjetas para las intenciones de nuestra Novena del
Día del Padre están disponibles en el atrio de la iglesia y
en la oficina parroquial. Si desean ofrecer una intención
en esta novena, tomen una tarjeta, llénela y entréguela
en la oficina a más tardar el 19 de junio.

Invitamos a todos los jóvenes adolecentes en los grados 8 al 12 a que
participen en esta semana de servicio que es ¡la Misión Posible! Esta misión
se lleva a cabo junto con la parroquia de St. Oliver Plunkett en Snellville,
GA, y por una semana, los jóvenes de IHM los acompañarán a ayudar en
varios proyectos en la cuidad de Atlanta. Esta es una misión que no te quieres

¡Muy pronto comenzará nuestra MISION POSIBLE #12! Por favor recen por

Al terminar la misa tendremos una
recepción en la iglesia histórica.
