Father Bao Thai was born into a non-baptized family
in July 1970 in Saigon, South of Vietnam. Through an
incredible series of events, he and his entire family
converted to Catholicism nine years later on the feast
day of the Solemnity of Our Lady’s Assumption.
After earning a B.Sc. in Computer Science from Saigon University (May 1992) and teaching at a high school for an academic year, he left Vietnam for Orange County in July 1993. In August
1995, he answered God’s calling and a yearning desire. He broke new
ground when he entered Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon, where he
obtained a B.A. in Philosophy (May 1998), and he continued on to obtain his M.Div. and M.A. in Spiritual Theology (St. John’s Seminary in
Camarillo, May 2003), as well as his Licentiate of Sacred Theology
(S.T.L.) in Spirituality (The Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas – the Angelicum in Rome, June 2009).
Grounded in his faith, learning, and hard work, Father Bao has enthusiastically served God’s people since his seminarian internship at Our
Lady of Guadalupe in La Habra (2000-2001). After his ordination to
the priesthood of Jesus Christ at St. Columban on June 7, 2003, he has
served at San Francisco Solano, St. Anthony Claret, Holy Family Cathedral and Our Lady of La Vang.
Beginning July 2015 he serves as an administrator at St. Cecilia, and he
is delighted to be here. Father Bao is eager to take on his tasks and he
also looks forward to working with and knowing each and every one of
us. He asks for our prayers as he continues on his faith journey with us
here at St. Cecilia.

family night barbecues and church
chats beginning:
Tuesday, July 7, 14, 21 & 28, at 5:30 pm
at the Lunch Area of the School
Our first speaker will be our new Administrator Fr.
Bao Thai. Fr. Bao will be speaking to us about his
life and love for his ministry. Please join us to give
him a big welcome and let’s make him feel at home.
The Church will supply hamburgers and hot dogs
and the community will provide potluck side dishes
(salads, desserts, etc). We also supply simple beverages (lemonade, coffee, & water) or feel free to bring
your beverage of choice. See you Tuesday, July 7!
Dear Friends,
Just a thank you for the wonderful celebration on the occasion of my transfer. The
Mass was wonderful and the celebration in
the hall afterwards was a real joy. Thank
you especially for all the cards which I am
reading a little at a time. Thank you to Alina Artemova, Miguel
Chicas, Kristine Linares and Anthony Bagtas, our choir and
liturgical ministers, to Anthony Vultaggio for his MC work at
the mass, Hasti Olia and Sang Bui for preparing the church, to
Robert Loera and his Ushers, to Paul Curran for the beautiful
slide shows, and to George Horvath, Alison Konop, Elizabeth
Inacay, Norma Zaleski, Teresa Ibbetson and Rose Schiller who
coordinated the details of the Farewell Mass and Reception
event. To Pat Gogo for the pictures (over many years) and a
Pastoral Staff and Council that did so much for the success of
the day. To Kara and Randy Muyargas and their Culture of
Life choir for the live music and sound system, to the Knights of
Columbus for the Color Corps at mass and helping John Konop with serving wine at the reception.
Thank you to all the people who brought food and worked on
the event details especially the Filipino community led by Tony
Lagman and Elizabeth Inacay (who were also responsible for
the set-up & decorating of the Reception venue), Hung Tran
(Vietnamese lay president of the community) and the Vietnamese Community, Richard Soesilo and our small but beloved
Indonesian Community, Maricela Jaimes and the Hispanic
Community, and Tim Reid and our 4:12 Ministries Youth who
did the set up of the hall and clean up afterwards. Your love
and prayers guide me and make me confident as I begin my

Fellowship
If you can spare a couple of hours on a Sunday, we welcome your assistance in making this a successful weekly
event. All ministries, all faith communities and all ages are
welcome to help. Helping out is a great ice-breaker for
meeting people in our parish.
We need help making coffee, setting up tables, putting
donuts on a tray, serving and greeting parishioners and
help with cleaning up.
We need help with the 7:30 am, 9:00 am, 11:00 am and
12:30 pm Masses. Just give us a call or email us and let us
know which Sunday you would be willing to help us.

Mensaje de esta Semana ....
El Padre Bao Thai, nació en una familia no-bautizada en julio de 1970 en
Saigón, sur de Vietnam. Con una serie increíble de acontecimientos, él y su
familia entera se convirtieron al Catolicismo nueve años después el día del
fiesta de la Solemnidad de Nuestra Señora de Asunción
Después de gano un titulo de ciencias en computación de la Universidad de
Saigón (en mayo de 1992) y enseño en una escuela secundaria por un año
académico, él salió de Vietnam para el condado orange en julio de 1993. En agosto de 1995, él
contestó a la llamar de Dios un deseo ardiente. Él rompió nuevo terreno, cuando entró al seminario de San Ángel Oregón, en donde él obtuvo un B.A. en Filosofía (mayo de 1998), y él continuó obteniendo su M.Div. y M.A. en Teología Espiritual (en el Seminario de San Juan en Camarillo, mayo de 2003), así como su Licencia en Teología Sagrada (S.T.L.) en la Espiritualidad (en la Universidad Pontifical de San Thomas Aquinas - el Angelicum en Roma, el junio de

Các Bạn thân mến,
Cha Thái Bảo đã được sinh ra trong một gia đình chưa được làm phép rửa vào
tháng Bảy năm 1970 ở Saigon, Miền Nam Việt Nam. Xuyên suốt những biến
cố không thể tưởng được, ngài và toàn thể gia đình đã trở lại đạo Công Giáo
chín năm sau vào ngày lễ kính trọng thể Đức Mẹ Vô Nhiễm.
Sau khi đã đỗ bằng Cử Nhân Khoa Điện Toán ở Trường Đại Học Sàigòn (tháng Năm 1992) và
đã dạy một năm ở trường trung học, ngài đã rời Việt Nam để đến Orange County vào tháng
Bảy năm 1993. Vào tháng Tám năm 1995 ngài đã đáp lại tiếng gọi của Chúa và một niềm ước
ao tha thiết. Ngài đã khai khẩn miền đất mới khi ngài bước vào Đại chủng viện Núi Thiên
Thần ở Oregon, nơi đó ngài nhận lãnh bằng Cử Nhân Triết Học (tháng Năm 1998), và ngài
tiếp tục nhận lảnh bằng Thạc Sĩ ngành Thần Học Tâm Linh (Đại Chủng Viện Thánh Gioan ở
Camarillo, tháng Năm 2003), cũng như ngài được cấp bằng Thần Học Thánh Linh (STL) tại
Đại học Giáo Hoàng St. Thomas Aquina - Học Viện Thiên Thần ở Roma vào tháng Sáu 2009.
Vững vàng trong dức tin của ngài, sự học tập và làm việc gian khó, cha Bảo đã phục vụ con
dân Chúa một cách hăng say từ khi làm mục vụ ở giáo xứ Đức Mẹ Guadalupe ở La Habra
(2000 – 2001). Sau khi được truyền chức linh mục của Chúa Kitô tại nhà thờ St. Columban
vào ngày 7 tháng 6 năm 2003, cha đã được sai đi phụ vụ giáo xứ San Franisco Sodano, St. Anthony Claret, Chính toà Holy Family và giáo xứ Đức Mẹ La Vang.
Bắt đầu từ tháng Bảy 2015, ngài phục vụ như một Giám quản tại giáo xứ St. Cecilia, ngài rất
vui mừng được về đây. Cha Bảo sốt sắng muốn gánh vác những công việc và ngài trông đợi
được làm việc và biết mỗi một người trong chúng ta. Ngài xin chúng ta thêm lời cầu nguyện
cho ngài để ngài tiếp tục cuộc hành trình trong đức tin với chúng ta tại giáo xứ St. Cecilia.

Mỗi Thứ Tư hàng tuần, giáo xứ chúng ta có giờ chầu Thánh Thể vào lúc 7:00 giờ đến 9:00 giờ tối. Cộng đoàn Việt nam
phụ trách từ 8:00 giờ đến 8:30 tối và Canh Tân Đặc Sủng sẽ phụ trách xướng kinh trong giờ chầu tuần này.
Hội Canh Tân Đặc Sủng vẫn có buổi cầu nguyện và chia sẻ Kinh Thánh hằng tuần vào lúc 5:00 giờ chiều ngày Chúa

Đoàn Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể xin nhận ống lon, chai bia,
nuớc ngọt vào các Thánh Lễ chiều thứ Bẩy để gây quỹ
sinh hoạt cho Đoàn. Chúng con sẽ có xe truck đậu ở bãi
đậu xe gần tháp chuông Nhà Thờ. Vì phương tiện vận
chuyển có giới hạn, cho nên chúng con không lấy bình
sữa, chai nuớc mắm và các chai ruợu lớn. Xin chân thành
cám ơn.
Để buổi lễ được giữ phần trang nghiêm, xin các bậc phụ
huynh vui lòng để ý và gìn giữ các con em nhỏ của mình
và cũng xin quý phụ huynh nhắc nhở các em nhỏ đừng
chạy nhảy hoặc la hét lớn tiếng trong giờ phụng vụ. Xin
vui lòng tắt hoặc chuyển điện thoại cầm tay sang hệ thống
rung. Chân thành cám ơn.
