FEAST OF THE PENTECOST
FIESTA DE PENTECOSTÉS
Pentecost day is called the "birth-day" of the Church. The
Holy Spirit changed the fearful disciples of the Cenacle in to
courageous Apostles: The Holy Spirit set fire to their hearts .
From this day onward they became men totally dedicated to
one purpose only: to bring the Good News, the Gospel of
Christ, to the ends of the world. The early church was
brought about by frail and mortal people, turned into spiritual
heroes by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit, that Jesus breathed on his disciples, helps and
aids each member of the Church to live a life of holiness by
following the teaching of Christ and by helping his fellowman
to do likewise. “The Lord breathed on them and said, “Receive
the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven…” Forgiveness of sins is a sure sign that the Holy Spirit is
present in our communities. Likewise, when we forgive one
another’s shortcomings, it is the beginning of a new creation,
the humanity redeemed by the Blood of the Lord Jesus.
The Holy Spirit, the "fruit of divine love," came from the Father and the Son to bring to perfection the work of our sanctification. Thus the three divine Persons of the Blessed Trinity
have cooperated in the great work of infinite love which
opens for us a future of unending happiness. May the Holy
Spirit today fill us with gratitude for all the good things God
has lavished upon each of us.
FEAST OF MARY HELP OF CHRISTIANS
PATRONESS OF OUR PARISH
The Feast of Mary Help of Christians is celebrated on May 24.
Our Lady became the helper of the human race for the first
time when she accepted the invitation of God to be the Mother of the Messiah and responded to the angel: "Behold the
handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy
word" (Luke 1:38). Her desire to help was imminent during
her intervention at the wedding of Cana, when she manifested
to the Lord that they had no wine and prompted Him to perform the first miracle by changing water into wine. (John 2:111). But her desire to help was increased by added responsibility given to her at Calvary when Our Lord made her the
mother of all the redeemed children of God in the person of
John the Apostle, "behold your son" (John 19:26).
As Mother of God's children, she has responded by helping
Christians throughout the ages. She has done this by coming
to the aid of individuals, families, towns, kingdoms and nations.
After proving her maternal help, throughout the centuries,
Our Lady has continued to appear in hundreds of places
throughout the world. She has brought help from Heaven,
and has warned her children to do prayer and penance as a
formula for peace. She has stressed that her children must
pray the Holy Rosary daily.
For Don Bosco, Mary Help of Christians, was the everpresent Mother who helps her children daily, going to their
rescue and leading them to Jesus. "Be devoted to Mary Help
of Christians", he would often say, "and you will see what miracles are!".
On this day I entrust all of the families of our parish to the
maternal protection of Mary Help of Christians.
"O Blessed Mother Mary, in dangers, difficulties, and
doubt we invoke you as Help of Christians: with your support we cannot fall; with you as guide, we shall not tire
on the way; with your assistance, we shall attain the goal
of heaven, Amen”.
El día de Pentecostés se llama el día del “nacimiento" de la
Iglesia. El Espíritu Santo cambió los discípulos temerosos del
Cenáculo a Apóstoles valientes: El Espíritu Santo puso fuego a
sus corazones. Desde ese día en adelante se convirtieron en
hombres totalmente dedicados a un solo propósito: A llevar la
Buena Nueva, el Evangelio de Cristo, hasta los confines del
mundo. La iglesia primitiva se produjo por personas débiles y
mortales, que se convirtieron en héroes espirituales por el

El Espíritu Santo que Jesús sopló sobre sus discípulos ayuda a
cada miembro de la Iglesia a vivir una vida de santidad, siguiendo las enseñanzas de Cristo y ayudando a su prójimo a hacer
lo mismo. "El Señor sopló sobre ellos y les dijo:" Reciban el
Espíritu Santo. A quienes perdonen los pecados les quedaran
perdonados ... "El perdón de los pecados es un signo seguro
de que el Espíritu Santo está presente en nuestras comunidades. Del mismo modo, cuando perdonamos las ofensas de los
demás, comenzamos una nueva creación humana redimida por
la Sangre de Jesús nuestro Señor.
El Espíritu Santo, "fruto del amor divino," vino del Padre y el
Hijo a traer la obra santificadora de la perfección. Así, las tres
divinas Personas de la Santísima Trinidad han cooperado en la
gran obra del infinito amor que nos abre un futuro de felicidad
sin fin. Que el Espíritu Santo hoy nos llene de gratitud por
todas las cosas buenas que Dios ha prodigado sobre cada uno
de nosotros.
FIESTA DE MARÍA AUXILIADORA DE LOS CRISTIANOS
PATRONA DE NUESTRA PARROQUIA
La Fiesta de María Auxiliadora se celebra el 24 de mayo. La
Virgen se convirtió en ayudante de la raza humana por primera vez cuando aceptó la invitación de Dios para ser la Madre
del Mesías y respondió al ángel: "He aquí la esclava del Señor;
hágase en mí según tu palabra "(Lucas 01:38). Su deseo de ayudar era inminente en la boda de Caná, cuando manifestó su
intervención al Señor porque ya no tenían vino, ahí se llevó a
cabo el primer milagro cambiando el agua en vino. (Juan 2: 111). Pero su deseo de ayudar aumento en responsabilidad en
el Calvario cuando Nuestro Señor la hizo la madre de todos
los hijos redimidos de Dios en la persona del Apóstol Juan, "he
aquí a tu hijo" (Juan 19:26).
Como Madre de los hijos de Dios, que ha respondido a ayudar
a los Cristianos a lo largo de los siglos. Ella ha hecho esto al
venir en ayuda de las personas, familias, pueblos, reinos y naciones. Después de demostrar su ayuda materna, a lo largo de
los siglos, la Virgen se ha seguido apareciendo en cientos de
lugares en todo el mundo. Ella ha traído la ayuda del Cielo, y
ha advertido a sus hijos a hacer oración y penitencia como una
fórmula para la paz. Ha hecho hincapié para que sus hijos recen el Santo Rosario todos los días.
Para Don Bosco, María Auxiliadora, fue la Madre omnipresente que ayudo a sus hijos todos los días, a ir a su rescate y los
llevo a Jesús. A menudo decía "Sean devotos de María Auxiliadora de los Cristianos", "y ustedes verán lo que son los
milagros!".
En este día encomiendo a todos las familias de nuestra parroquia a la protección maternal de María Auxiliadora.
"Oh Santísima Virgen María, en peligros, dificultades y
dudas te invocamos como Auxiliadora de los Cristianos:
con tu ayuda no caeremos; con tu ayuda como guía, no
nos cansaremos en el camino, con tu ayuda, alcanzaremos la meta del cielo, Amén”.

Sr. Sylvia Castillo who served our parish community
for the past 12 years has been given a new assignment
by her Provincial Superior, at Salesian sisters’ School
in Laredo, Texas. She will be moving to take up this
responsibility soon. I take this opportunity to Thank
her for her dedicated services to our parish, as director of religious education and as coordinator for the
(Despensa) food distribution program on Thursdays
for the last many years. On May 31st all past and present Religious education staff, volunteers of Despensa, the parish council and finance council members will be gathering around her to give her a fitting farewell.
SISTER SYLVIA GRACIAS Y BUENA SUERTE
A la hermana Sylvia Castillo, quien a servido a nuestra comunidad parroquial por los últimos 12 años, se le ha asignado una nueva misión por su
Superiora Provincial, en la Escuela de las hermanas salesianas en Laredo,
Texas. Muy pronto ella se trasladará a asumir esta responsabilidad. Aprovecho esta oportunidad para darle las gracias por su dedicación y servicio a nuestra parroquia, como directora de educación religiosa y coordinadora del programa de distribución de
comida (Despensa) los jueves desde hace muchos años.
El 31 de mayo el personal de educación religiosa pasado y el
actual, los voluntarios de Despensa, los miembros del consejo parroquial y el comité de finanzas se reunirán alrededor
de ella para darle una despedida apropiada.

SE CANCELARA POR ESTE AÑO
Este verano no tendremos el Campamento María Auxiliadora que teníamos en las instalaciones de la escuela San Francis. Si las circunstancias lo
permiten, esperamos reanudarlo el próximo año. Aquellos que deseen
enviar a sus hijos al Campamento de verano se les anima a inscribirlos en
el campamento de residencia para niños de San Francis en Aptos, y para
niñas con las Hermanas Salesianas en Corralitos. Las aplicación para el
campamento de niños están disponibles en la oficina de la parroquia y

SUMMER DAY-CAMP CANCELLED FOR THIS YEAR
This summer we will not be having the regular Campo Maria Auxiliadora
day-camp which we had across the street at St. Francis School premises.
If circumstances permit we hope to resume it next year. Those who
wish to send your children for summer Camp are encouraged to register
for the resident camp for boys at Camp St. Francis, Aptos, and for the
Girls at Salesian Sisters resident camp at Corralitos. Application forms
for boys camp are available in the parish office and for girls camp contact
