The tags on the tree list items that would be beneficial to Holy Trinity Catholic School as it begins its seventh year of providing quality, Catholic Education. Along with the item is a donation amount that would cover the cost of the item listed. If you would like to donate an item, simply put the item amount into the envelope and drop it in the collection basket or leave it at the church or school offices. In the past many of you have donated to the school through the Giving Tree and those donations have had a huge impact on the educational program at the school. The Giving Tree will remain in the narthex through the Labor Day weekend. SPONSOR A STUDENT At this time registration is taking place for the 2015 –2016 school year. Some of our families are in need of assistance with tuition for their child/children. Our parents make many sacrifices in order to send their child/children to Holy Trinity Catholic School and sometimes, even though the school is able to provide tuition assistance to families, it is never enough. Some parishioners sponsor students each year by providing a full or partial tuition for these students. Would you be able to do the same? If you would like to become a sponsor, please call Ms. Durante, school principal, at 843-390 - 4108. Thank you for considering this opportunity. FaithFormation A HUGE "THANK YOU" TO FR. MICHAEL CASSABON On behalf of the parish and Faith Formation Ministry, we wish to express heartfelt gratitude to this very talented and gifted priest who taught all (especially the adults) how we continually need to learn about our faith and build a relationship with the Lord. During his short time at Our Lady Star of the Sea, he showed us a way to go out with hope and confidence and speak about the Good News of Jesus Christ May the grace of God continue to bless him on his new journey in the Diocese of Charleston. But the Blessed Mother can go to her Son Jesus and do wonders. The Knights of Columbus are offering intimate prayer devotions in your own homes to all parishioners so that every family may experience visitation for one week from our Visiting Madonna. Families will begin to experience a sense of peace, quiet and reflection while saying the Rosary as a family with Our Lady. The family that prays together stays together. If you are interested in participating in welcoming the Visiting Madonna, please call Sam Konrad at (843) 399-7003 or email him at [email protected]. This week, The Visiting Madonna will be presented to Harry & Marlene Walker at the 8:00 AM Mass. A Prayer for Hurricane Season O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude; you are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control. During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son on our behalf, so that we are spared from the calamities common to this area, and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where a storm-less eternity awaits us. Amen. COMMUNITY BUILDING THE ANCIENT ORDER OF HIBERNIANS will be holding its Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 20th, at the Crow Creek Golf Course. With the growth of new media, people all over the globe have greater opportunities to connect in the digital environment. The CCC enters this digital environment by providing grants to support local and international communications projects that share the experience of faith, worship, and witness. With the election of Pope Francis, media interest in the Catholic Church has increased dramatically. Funding from the CCC has allowed greater coverage of the Vatican, both by Catholic media and the USCCB communications team. For example, the promotion efforts surrounding the publication of Pope Francis’s Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium led to its listing on Amazon’s best-seller list, an unprecedented feat for an official church document. After its publication, hundreds of thousands of people connected on the USCCB Facebook page to share their faith and be inspired by quotes and discussions. In Kenya, the CCC is developing a long-term plan to assist the Kenyan Conference of Catholic Bishops in deploying a radio network across the country. The stations and equipment will allow the Church to broadcast religious programming. The plan also includes creating space for interviews and discussions with government officials, business leaders, and community organizers. The bishops hope to foster strong ethical business plans and moral leadership that will allow the people of Kenya to realize their full potential and human dignity. The CCC allows us to share our experience of faith, worship, and witness with the world. Please support this important work in the upcoming collection, which will be June 7, 2015 in our diocese. Remember, half of the proceeds from this collection stay here in our diocese to support our local communication efforts. Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Rev. Robert E. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults The R.C.I.A. is a process of spiritual conversion and growth, over time, in one’s relationship with God and the Church. It is a faith journey where adults are fully welcomed into the Catholic Church. If you’re interested in exploring a relationship with Jesus Christ; inquiring about the Catholic Church; becoming Catholic; and being fully initiated into the Catholic Church through the celebration of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation & Eucharist, WE WELCOME YOU! For more information about the R.C.I.A. process, please contact Deacon Bob at the Church Office. CLASSES WILL RESUME IN THE FALL. Padre Orlando. EVANGELIZACION CATEQUESIS PARA ADULTOS (R.I.C.A.)
