El departamento de música tendrá una venta de apple dumpling (rellenos de manzana) para recaudar fondos
empezando el 1 de octubre. Fecha de entrega es el 15 de octubre.

Physical Education
Department News!
The Physical Education Department has a few very
special and important announcements.
First and
foremost, we would like to welcome our new girls physical
education and health teacher, Miss Rebecca Smith, who
comes to us from East Stroudsburg University! Miss
Smith was a member of both their softball and field
hockey team.
We would also like to let parents know that we are
revamping the Physical Education and Health curriculum
at LMS. This year for the first time in many years health
will be taught to all grade levels. In 6th grade, students will
learn about the body systems, healthy decision making,
and stress management. Our 7th graders will be learning
about nutrition and fitness. Lastly, our 8th grade grade
curriculum will consist of sex education, as well as
alcohol, tobacco, and drug education. Students will also
be given assessments based on the PA State Standards
during these classes.
These assessments can be
physical or cognitive in nature. They will pertain to what
we are currently learning in class.
So far our students have already been tested in the
FITNESS GRAM, which is a national assessment for
fitness.
Many of our students have gone above and
beyond our expectations and we know they will continue
to achieve throughout the year!
We look forward to
seeing parents at parent/teacher conferences next month!

What’s Happening in the LMS
Library?
Get ready for the Book Fair! It will be held from October 5th
through October 9th. On most days we will be open from 8:15
am until 3:00 pm. We will also be open during Parent-Teacher
Conferences. Stop in and find a new book! The money we
make from your support of our book fair helps to purchase
new books for the library as well as supports our teachers.
Stop in and see what is new!
Overdue notices are mailed home on a regular basis to keep
everyone up to date on books borrowed from the library.
Books are lent to students for a period of 3 weeks. If the
books are not returned, we start sending notices to both the
homeroom and home. Please help your child remember to
return their books promptly. If they need more time, they are
welcome to renew the book. Students should stop in and talk
to Mrs. Collins in order to get their books renewed. We are
looking forward to seeing you at the Book Fair!

to the Brossman Lecture at Millersville University in

Física! Física tiene algunos

de Educación
anuncios especiales e importantes. Antes que nada, ¡nos
gustaría darle la bienvenida a nuestra maestra nueva de
salud y educación física, la Srta. Rebecca Smith, quién
viene a nosotros de la Universidad East Stroudsburg! La
Srta. Smith fue miembro de los equipos de hockey sobre
césped y softbol.
También queremos dejarle saber a nuestros padres que
estamos renovando el currículo de Salud y Educación
Física en LMS. Este año, por primera vez en muchos
años, la clase de salud se enseñará a todos los niveles
de grado. En 6to grado, los estudiantes aprenderán sobre
los sistemas del cuerpo, cómo tomar decisiones
saludables, y manejo del estrés. Nuestros estudiantes en
7mo grado estarán aprendiendo sobre la nutrición y salud.
Y nuestro currículo de 8vo grado consistirá de educación
sexual, al igual que la educación sobre el alcohol, tabaco,
y las drogas. A los estudiantes también se les darán
evaluaciones basadas en los estándares del estado de
PA durante estas clases. Estas evaluaciones pueden ser
físicas o cognitivas en naturaleza. Corresponden a lo que
actualmente estamos aprendiendo en clase.
Hasta ahora nuestros estudiantes ya han sido evaluados
en la APTITUD GRAM, que es una evaluación nacional
para la aptitud. ¡Muchos de nuestros estudiantes han
pasado por encima y más allá de nuestras expectativas y
sabemos que continuarán mejorando todo el año!
¡Esperamos ver a los padres en las conferencias de
padres/maestros el próximo mes!

¿Qué Sucede en la Biblioteca?
¡Prepárese para la Feria de Libros! Se llevará a cabo desde
el 5 hasta el 9 de octubre. La mayoría de los días estaremos
abiertos de 8:15 am a 3:00 pm. También estaremos abiertos
durante las Conferencias de Padres-Maestros. ¡Visítenos y
encuentre un libro nuevo! El dinero que hacemos por su
apoyo de nuestra feria de libros ayuda con la compra de
libros nuevos para la biblioteca al igual que apoya a nuestros
maestros. ¡Venga y vea lo nuevo!
Avisos de vencimiento se envían a casa de manera regular
para mantener a todos al tanto de los libros prestados de la
biblioteca. Los libros se prestan a los estudiantes por un
período de 3 semanas. Si los libros no se devuelven,
comenzamos a enviar avisos al salón de clase y al hogar. Por
favor ayude a su niño a recordar de devolver sus libros a
tiempo. Si necesitan más tiempo, son bienvenidos para
renovar el libro. Los estudiantes deben hablar con la Sra.
Collins para que puedan renovar sus libros. ¡Esperamos
verlos en la Feria de Libros!

estudiantes dotados a la conferencia Brossman en la
Universidad Millersville en noviembre. ¡Habrán más detalles a

project. They illustrated their names with a theme that represented something about their
interests/hobbies. Miss Kerwin’s 7th grade students began the school year by setting
goals for themselves. They used their goals to create visually intriguing designs. Enjoy
