Walk-a-thon to raises money
for student activities
BY ELI DIAZ
4th, 5th and 6th grade students at CSI have
been busy collecting donations for the annual
Walk-a-Thon.
Money raised will help fund field trips
and other student incentives.
The goal for this year is to raise $6,000.
So far $1,900 has been collected. The last day
to submit donations is Thursday, October 29.
The boy and girl who raise the most
money will be crowned King and Queen of
the Walk-a-Thon.
During the Walk-a-Thon, students will
walk around the Frank Carter Stadium track on
Friday, October 30. Students can walk in their
costumes, as long as it follows campus
guidelines.
According to the Weather Channel App,
there is a 80% chance of rain on Friday. In
case of rain, the Walk-a-Thon will be
rescheduled for the next week.

4th Graders think
Roald Dahl is just ‘Peachy’
BY MIGUEL SILVA
The Language Arts classes at CSI have read two
Roald Dahl novels for the first and second six weeks.
The first novel was James and the Giant Peach. The
story is about a boy that did not have parents. He had to live
with his aunts that were cruel to him. Through a series of
events, he has a magical journey on a giant peach. On his
journey he meets a centipede, a spider, a grasshopper, a
silkworm and a glow worm. He finally reaches his
destination to New York City.
For the novel, students had to illustrate parts of the
book We had to talk about the characters and we even got to
eat a real peach.
The next novel was The Witches. This book is about
another boy who loses his parents. He goes to live with his
Grandmamma. His grandmother tells him about the witches.
The little boy gets turned into a mouse by the Grand High
Witch.
Students are curious about the next choice in books.
Maybe Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?
want to make a difference."
On Feb. 7, 1985, the 37-year-old
Camarena left his office to meet his wife for
lunch. Five men appeared at the agent's side
and shoved him in a car. One month later,
Camarena's body was found. He had been
tortured to death.
In honor of Camarena's memory and his
battle against illegal drugs, friends and
neighbors began to wear red badges of satin.

Six teams compete in the Carrizo Springs Youth Soccer League in the 8-10 year old
division.
Games began in September and the season will end early next month. Games take place
at Bowman Field.
The main objective is to make as many goals as possible during the game.
Players are not allowed to touch the ball with their hands.
There is a lot of running involved in soccer so players practice every week to stay in
good shape.
Students are looking forward
to winter sports like basketball
and spring sports like baseball and
softball.
