Pastoral Thought
A special day for our parish—we celebrate the rededication of our worship space and also the 54th
anniversary of our founding, in November 1960, on
the feast of Christ the King (next Sunday).
I would like to comment on our present year
(2014-15) objectives which you see printed in the
bulletin attachment. They express our ongoing
commitment to live and act as a faithful Christian
Community. Preceding the objectives are our 5-year
goal statements.
Goal 1: Christian Formation
“Foster a Christian community where adult members
live in a conscious spiritual life and evangelize in our
area.”
The objective: “Urge reform of diocesan church
priorities” sounds bold, even brash.
Yet Pope
Francis wants a synodal church [much consultation]
that is not ‘self-referential’ [concerned only about its
own interests]. So a special committee of parish
council will be responsible for expressing grass roots
concerns to our diocesan leadership this year.
Goal 2: Liturgy
“Provide vital and prayerful liturgy and actively
involve youth and Hispanic members.”
Less
attention was given to this due to so many recent
improvements.
Goal 3: Pastoral Care and Community Building
“To know all of our members and connect them with
small communities, ministries and activities.”
Objective 3: “To install greeters/ministers of
hospitality at all Masses.” We want no one to feel a
stranger, or that no one cares about them.
Objectives 5 & 6: “Improve publicity to the Hispanic
community of non-Hispanic events, and vice-versa.”
As integration occurs we need announcements and
prayer intentions to be shared.
Goal 4: Service/Social Ministry
I would like you to read the entire six objectives. With
mentoring, and outreach to the disenfranchised
(LGBT, divorced, etc.) we are working for societal
reconciliation, however humbly. This again is part of
Evangelization, cf. Pope Francis.
Goal 5: Hispanic Ministry
“Form a community of disciples who assume
increased responsibility for the parish.”
Objective 2: “Institute a pastoral agent…” This role
is crucial. The pastoral agent acts as leader of the
community in the absence of the priest. Especially
(though not only) among our Hispanic people this
leadership is overdue.
Goal 6: Finances and Goal 7: Facilities are being
handled steadily and well. No comment is ventured
at this time.

ASCS will hold its Fall OPEN HOUSE this Thursday,
November 20th from 6:00-7:30pm. It’s not too early
to begin thinking about next school year! Our Early
Childhood classrooms begin to fill up quickly. We
currently have a waiting list for our PreK3 Program
for this current year. School Tours are available at
any time if you are interested in any of our programs.
All Saints is a Pre-K (ages 3 and 4) through Grade 8
school.
Please call Stephen Adams, Assistant
Principal, if you are interested in obtaining more
information about ASCS or would like to schedule a
tour: 302.995.2231 or [email protected].
Each fourth grader at ASCS researched a saint and
shared important facts with their classmates. They
decorated a pumpkin to show a representation of
their saint. Then they created a scavenger hunt map
on the iPads.
The kindergartens and second
graders used the map and some written directions to
find the pumpkins, which were hidden in the
garden. The fourth grader then shared their report
with the younger students. It was a great way to
celebrate our feast day!

American History Erased
“History is not history, unless it is the truth.”
~Abraham Lincoln
In 1782 the United States Congress voted this
resolution: “The Congress of the United States
recommends and approves the Holy Bible for use in
all schools.” Most of our Founding Fathers’
statements about the importance of religion, scripture
and the Ten Commandments in forming this country
have been erased from textbooks. Revisionists have
rewritten history to remove the truth about America’s
Christian roots.
