The Year of Mercy
The Holy Doors have been opened! Don’t let the enthusiasm
wane. To obtain the Jubilee indulgence Pope Francis has written
this: “To experience obtain the Indulgence, the faithful are called
to make a brief pilgrimage to the Holy Door, open in every Cathedral or in the churches designated by the Diocesan Bishop, and in
the four Papal Basilicas in Rome, as a sign of the deep desire for
true conversion. Likewise, I dispose that the Indulgence may be
obtained in the Shrines in which the Door of Mercy is open and in
the churches which traditionally are identified as Jubilee Churches. It is important that this moment be linked, first and foremost,
to the Sacrament of Reconciliation and to the celebration of the
Holy Eucharist with a reflection on mercy. It will be necessary to
accompany these celebrations with the profession of faith and
with prayer for me and for the intentions that I bear in my heart
for the good of the Church and of the entire world.”
The local Holy Door is at The Oratory Chapel
at 434 Charlotte Avenue, Rock Hill.

STEWARDSHIP
2016 has great plans. Our Building Committee just
met last December 9th. Our summer plans look good. We
are looking forward having a new Family Life Center
Reception Area that will be pleasing to the eye, very welcoming and most of all it will increase security.
Two new lighting poles will be installed in front of the
church to increase safety and security.
Another long time wish from our parishioners is the
Church Marquee proudly bearing our church name. With
the labor donated by a Hispanic Family this project will
soon be the spot light of Bird Street.
DREAMS are always good to have. Our parishioners have long wished for a porte-cochère in front of the
church. The porte-cochère is in the Parish Plan as a covered entrance large enough for vehicles to pass through.
This is a big project of $100,000. So, we remain largely
dependent on financial support for this particular project.
Your kindness and generosity is needed to support and
assist for this project to come out of the ground soon. Let
me know if you want to take advantage of the End of the
Year Giving. Your financial donations are tax deductible
as always.
Feed the Hungry
There are many people in
this world who go without
food. When so much of
our food goes to waste,
consider how good stewardship practices of your
own food habits can benefit others who do not have those same resources.
Research, identify and contribute financially to organizations that serve the hungry. Try not to purchase more
food than you are able to eat. If you notice that you end
up throwing groceries away each week, purchasing less
groceries would eliminate waste and allow you to donate
the savings to those in need.
Saint Anne’s App
Have you downloaded our app yet? It offers a lot of capabilities for keeping you up-to-date with all our activities
and major events. You have the Mass readings in the
touch of your fingers. You can even schedule reminders
to alert you of upcoming events. Our app is available for
everyone to download right now.

This Second Collection is used depending on the age and wear and tear
of structures and systems and the need for major expenditures required to
keep our facilities safe, in good condition, comfortable and well functioning. Your contribution will help defray the cost of improvements for all

NEXT WEEK - Catholic Schools
This Second Collection helps to offset the Financial Assistance for Catholic Education (FACE). Catholic Schools empower students through an
academically Christ-centered education. We invite you to participate in
this ministry by supporting this collection which helps schools to remain
a place where our faith is taught and lived.

PARISH LIFE - MINISTRIES & ORGANIZATIONS
Saint Martha’s Gift Shop
We want to thank all parishioners who frequented the gift shop in 2015.
All proceeds stay at St. Anne's to assist with parish needs. Have a Blessed and Joyful New Year.
Prayer Angels
Rev. Paul W. Farin
Ordained in 1988, I am a priest in the Diocese of St.
Georges-in-Grenada and have been an Outreach Preacher
with Cross since 2001. My ministry has included parish
work, high school and college chaplaincy, liturgical and
ecumenical workshops, and substance abuse education. I
have worked with the homeless and am a passionate advocate for the poor in developing countries.
Cross Catholic Outreach Mission
True change comes from within. Physical change is not complete without sharing the
Gospel. In order to break the cycle of poverty, we must first start with the heart. This
refers to the active combination of word and deed; integral development. We must
share the hope and good news of the Gospel alongside our social work in order to see
the Holy Spirit’s transformative power. Neither side of our ministry is complete without the other. We must address both to see a true transformation and to end the plague
of extreme poverty.
Cross Catholic Outreach is Catholic ministry that serves the poorest of the poor internationally by channeling aid through dioceses, parishes, and Catholic missionaries,
cost-effectively helping the poor break the cycle of poverty while advancing Catholic
evangelization.
Projects include relief for earthquake, flood and tsunami victims, care and education
for orphans and other vulnerable children, housing for the homeless, medicines and
health care for the indigent, food for families suffering extreme malnutrition, and
clean water for communities that have none, as well as micro-enterprise programs and
other long-term development efforts to break the cycle of poverty.
In every case, our method of outreach is the same: Cross Catholic locates needy Catholic-based ministries serving the poor and distributes material aid through their existing programs. In this way,
we can supply meaningful
help where it is needed
most. In all our work we
remain dedicated in our
service to the Lord as good
stewards of His resources
in every challenge we seek
to overcome.
Did you know that here
at Saint Anne we have a
prayer group dedicated
to praying for our family and friends that are
on our Parish Prayer
List? Individually, we
include the prayer list in
our daily personal devotions and occasionally
we try to meet to say the rosary, but it is
not required. If you would like to join us,
you can call the Parish Office and we can
get the list emailed to you. Thank you for
considering joining us.
Treasures of our Traditions
Epiphany celebrates the wake up calls of
life, the showings of God’s majesty and
power in the person of Jesus. The feast
alerts us to look for signs of the Lord’s
grace and action in our lives today. In this
context, the call of the Second Vatican
Council to reform the sacramental life of
the Church, including our pattern of care
for the sick, is indeed a holy awakening.
Prior to the 1960s, our care for the sick
had collapsed in the popular imagination
into something everyone called “last
rites.” An immensely complicated ritual,
with anointing accompanied by quickly
muttered Latin prayers, was enacted for a
marginally conscious person at “death’s
door.” By the time a priest was called, the
sick person might not be able to receive
viaticum, or derive much personal benefit
from the ritual. The healing effects of the
sacrament, investing suffering with the
dignity of a link to Christ’s cross, and the
immense assurance of forgiveness for a
person reviewing the life journey, were
hidden. Suddenly, an epiphany swept
through the Church, and the way we care
for the sick was utterly transformed. It
took several centuries, however, for the
Church to reach that moment of renewal.
