Milligan Anne Raymond, and Thomas Clemens This week we have had our visitors from Honduras with us: Sor Dorly and Professor Adolfo. Sor (sister) Dorly is a Franciscan nun, originally from Brazil, who works at Texiquat with the sick and elderly. Professor Adolfo is the principal of the grade school in Texiquat. This week has been full with many visits to special sites here in Indianapolis and time spent with parishioners. Today (Sunday) we are having a reception for them after the 10:30 Mass and we hope you will be able to join us. This week our school is on Fall Break. While we are not on a “balanced” schedule, we did start a little earlier this year (August 11th) to allow for a longer Fall break. Hopefully, the kids will have good weather. We are planning a story telling afternoon on November 23rd from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. in the church. All parishioners are invited to share their stories about the people of our parish: the priests, sisters, the lay men and women, who played a significant part in our history. For example, who were the coaches in our school during the 1950s and 1960s and how did they make a positive impact on their players? Or, who was your favorite teacher at Holy Spirit and why? Or, how did a particular priest or sister affect your life in a positive way? If you would like to share a story, or listen to the stories, please mark your calendar for Nov. 23rd at 4:00 P.M.. God’s Blessings and Love, WORLD MISSION SUNDAY Second Collection TODAY Today, our parish will celebrate World Mission Sunday. This year we are invited to reach out and help build the Church in Mongolia, the world’s youngest Catholic Church, as well as local churches throughout the Missions, in the most remote areas across our world. Through the work of these churches, and their witness to Christ, the poor receive practical help and experience God’s love and mercy, His hope and peace. Please keep the Missions in your daily prayers. Please give generously today during the second collection (green baskets). The Family of Bill Mickler would like to sincerely thank the Mercy Meal team, Fr. Paul, and the Parish staff for their prayers and support during Bill’s funeral. Holy Spirit School Secure Access We are working to improve our campus security and one of our new projects is the secure access system that was completed in August at all of the school entrances. We are moving toward a keyless system, where everyone who needs access to the school will be either issued a key fob or access card for a specific door and time, or be let in by a greeter or committee chairman. To create the most secure environment for our children and parishioners, we will move forward during the next few weeks and months by changing the locks on the exterior school doors. No one will be issued an actual key. The key cards or fobs can be formatted to work for certain days, times, and specific doors. They can also be cancelled in the event of loss. Over the past few months alone, we have reissued dozens of keys to people who have lost theirs or had a purse or car theft. Please be aware that if you have a school exterior door key, and you feel you need access on a regular basis, please have your ministry head submit your name to us and then we can make a card for your needs. You will need to come into our office to pick it up, so that we can gather some information and take a photo. We are still working on the policy, the cost of replacing a fob, what the expiration dates will be and what hours to make the card and fobs accessible. We do NOT want any doors propped open. Right now, if a school door is propped open for more than 5 minutes, an alarm is issued through the system. For your meetings, all organizers will need to assign someone to watch for latecomers or have some sort of method of letting people in the building without leaving the doors propped open. We have had strangers in our buildings and want to do our very best to protect those in our parish community. Thank you for your patience in this project! We hope to find the funds to add the secure access point to the parish center in the future as well. Please contact the Parish Office at 353-9404 for additional information.
