AN EASTER MESSAGE
FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family,
Happy Easter to all of you! We
want to welcome anyone coming
for their first time this weekend or
many who are visiting. Today is the
day we celebrate the Resurrection
of Christ, who gives us hope in
times when we may not see it.
Christ gives us the gift of forgiveness and eternal life. These are
gifts that are very important as we
face suffering and challenges in
our life.

God hears our prayers! Please call the Parish Office at 815385-5673 to add a name to our Prayer List. If you or loved
ones need prayers but do not want names to be published
here, please contact the Holy Apostles Prayer Line at 815-3852404 or email to [email protected]
I am sometimes overwhelmed by
the struggles people face silently
in our world these days. My hope
is that people find this parish a
place where they feel inspired and
find hope as they come to Mass
and get to know people here. I
try to share stories in homilies of
people who have challenged and
inspired me. As we continue to
walk this journey together and get
to know each other, it is wonderful
to see the goodness and beauty
inside of so many people.

Thank you so for your generous giving!
Please remember Holy Apostles in your Will.
Thank Him for All He Has Done for You!
Through Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross, we have the gift
of the Holy Eucharist. Good Friday follows Holy Thursday
because the passion and the death of Jesus was the
price that He paid so that we may have divine, immortal
and everlasting life in Him in the new and everlasting
covenant of the Holy Eucharist. Take a little time each
week to visit Jesus in the Divine Eucharist in
the All Saints Perpetual Adoration Chapel. and
thank Him. Pray, listen, and take in the peace
that He gives us so lovingly. Stop and take a
little break from your busy life to
acknowledge His comforting love. Jesus will
bless you, your family, and the whole world for this hour
of faith you spend with Him in the Blessed Sacrament.
Please pray about committing to these open times:
Thursday:
2 to 3 AM
Saturday:
12 to 1 AM, 3 to 4 PM and 7 to 8 PM
Call Mike Thielsen at 815-385-8562 to commit your time.

Josemaría Escrivá: La alegría de la Pascua
Cristo vive.

Extraordinary Graces of Divine Mercy
Sunday, April 12
Within the Diary of St. Faustina, Jesus mentions over
and over, the great importance of The Feast of Mercy
and the extraordinary graces He will grant:
My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a
refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for
poor sinners. The soul that will go to Confession and
receive Holy Communion will obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment (699).
I want to grant a complete pardon to the souls that
will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion
on the Feast of My mercy (1109).
Whoever approaches the Fountain of Life on this
day will be granted complete forgiveness of sins and
punishment (300).
Not only are we completely forgiven by God, but we
receive many additional extraordinary graces. I pour
out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who
approach the fount of My mercy. This is a day of miracles. Ask and you shall receive. Knock and the door
will be open to you. The Lord always gives in abundance.
How to Observe the Feast of Mercy:
1. Celebrate the Feast on the Sunday after Easter
(April 12).
2. Sincerely repent of all our sins by going to Confession,
preferably beforehand.
3. Place our complete trust in Jesus.
4. Receive Holy Communion on the day of the Feast.
5. Venerate the Image of The Divine Mercy.
6. Be merciful to others, through our actions, words,
and prayers on their behalf.
A Feast of Divine Mercy service will
be offered at both St. Patrick Church,
McHenry, and Christ the King Church,
Wonder Lake, next Sunday, April 12,
beginning with the Sacrament of
Reconciliation at 2 PM, followed by
Holy Hour of Exposition of the
Blessed Sacrament, praying Chaplet
of Divine Mercy (chanted at Christ the
King) and Veneration of Divine Mercy
sacred image.

Include Holy Apostles in Your
Planned Giving
Giving to The Church of Holy Apostles can
take many forms. You can make gifts now
and benefit from income tax deductions or
you can make bequests in your will or
designate our parish as beneficiary of a
life insurance policy, gifts that will take
place after your death.
For example, if you transfer appreciated
stock or mutual fund to the parish, you
can avoid capital gains tax and receive an
income tax deduction.
Gifts of appreciated real estate also offer
an income tax deduction and avoidance of
capital gains tax. This can also be done
with a creation of a retained life estate
where the ownership of the property is
transferred but you retain occupancy for
the rest of your life.
Your gifts will allow future generations to
worship and be part of our wonderful
parish. Contact Sue Draffkorn at the
Parish Office at 815-385-5673 or
[email protected]
for details.
