Yavé dijo a Moisés y a Aarón, en el país de Egipto: «Este mes será para ustedes el comienzo de los
meses, el primero de los meses del año. Hablen a la comunidad de Israel y díganle: El día décimo
de este mes tome cada uno un cordero por familia, un cordero por casa. Pero, si la familia es
demasiado pequeña para consumir el cordero, se pondrá de acuerdo con el vecino más cercano,
según el número de personas y conforme a lo que cada cual pueda comer. Ustedes escogerán un
corderito sin defecto, macho, nacido en el año. En lugar de un cordero podrán tomar también
un cabrito. Ustedes lo reservarán hasta el día catorce de este mes. Entonces toda la comunidad
de Israel lo sacrificará al anochecer. En cada casa en que lo coman ustedes tomarán de su sangre
para untar los postes y la parte superior de la puerta. Esa misma noche comerán la carne asada al
fuego; la comerán con panes sin levadura y con verduras amargas.

Y comerán así: ceñidos con el cinturón, las sandalias en los pies y el bastón en la mano. Ustedes
no se demorarán en comerlo: es una pascua en honor de Yavé. Durante esa noche, yo recorreré
el país de Egipto y daré muerte a todos los primogénitos de Egipto, tanto de los egipcios como
de sus animales; y demostraré a todos los dioses de Egipto quién soy yo, Yavé. En las casas donde
están ustedes la sangre tendrá valor de señal: al ver esta sangre, yo pasaré de largo, y la plaga no
los alcanzará mientras golpeo a Egipto. Ustedes harán recuerdo de este día año tras año, y lo

Antes de la fiesta de Pascua, sabiendo Jesús que le había llegado la hora de salir de este mundo para
ir al Padre, co mo había amado a los suyos que que daban en el mundo, los amó hasta el extremo.
Estaban comiendo la cena y el diablo ya había depositado en el corazón de Judas Iscariote, hijo
de Simón, el propósito de entregarle. Jesús, por su parte, sabía que el Padre había puesto todas
las cosas en sus manos y que había salido de Dios y que a Dios volvía. En tonces se levantó de la
mesa, se quitó el manto y se ató una toalla a la cintura. Echó agua en un re cipiente y se puso a
lavar los pies de los discípulos, y luego se los secaba con la toalla que se había atado.
Cuando llegó a Simón Pedro, éste le dijo: «¿Tú, Señor, me vas a lavar los pies a mí?» Jesús le
contestó: «Tú no puedes comprender ahora lo que estoy haciendo. Lo com prenderás más tarde.»
Pedro replicó: «Jamás me lavarás los pies.» Jesús le respondió: «Si no te lavo, no podrás tener parte
conmigo.» Entonces Pedro le dijo: «Señor, lávame no sólo los pies, sino también las manos y la
cabeza.» Jesús le dijo: «El que se ha bañado está completamente limpio y le basta lavarse los pies.
Y ustedes están limpios, aunque no todos.» Jesús sabía quién lo iba a entregar, por eso dijo: «No

Cuando terminó de lavarles los pies, se puso de nuevo el manto, volvió a la mesa y les dijo: «¿Comprenden lo que he hecho con ustedes? Ustedes me llaman Maestro y Señor, y dicen bien, porque lo

The LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to go forward.

the Israelites may pass through it on dry land. But I will make the Egyptians so obstinate that
they will go in after them. Then I will receive glory through Pharaoh and all his army, his
chariots and charioteers. The Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I receive glory
through Pharaoh and his chariots and charioteers.”
The angel of God, who had been leading Israel’s camp, now moved and went around behind
them. The column of cloud also, leaving the front, took up its place behind them, so that it
came between the camp of the Egyptians and that of Israel. But the cloud now became dark,
and thus the night passed without the rival camps coming any closer together all night long.
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD swept the sea with a strong east
wind throughout the night and so turned it into dry land. When the water was thus divided,
the Israelites marched into the midst of the sea on dry land, with the water like a wall to their
right and to their left.
The Egyptians followed in pursuit; all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and charioteers went after
them right into the midst of the sea. In the night watch just before dawn the LORD cast
through the column of the fiery cloud upon the Egyptian force a glance that threw it into
a panic; and he so clogged their chariot wheels that they could hardly drive. With that the
Egyptians sounded the retreat before Israel, because the LORD was fighting for them against

Then the LORD told Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may flow back
upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots and their charioteers.” So Moses stretched out his hand
over the sea, and at dawn the sea flowed back to its normal depth. The Egyptians were fleeing
head on toward the sea, when the LORD hurled them into its midst. As the water flowed
back, it covered the chariots and the charioteers of Pharaoh’s whole army which had followed
the Israelites into the sea. Not a single one of them escaped. But the Israelites had marched on
dry land through the midst of the sea, with the water like a wall to their right and to their left.
Thus the LORD saved Israel on that day from the power of the Egyptians. When Israel saw the
Egyptians lying dead on the seashore and beheld the great power that the LORD had shown
against the Egyptians, they feared the LORD and believed in him and in his servant Moses.

Brothers and sisters: Are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were
