What Every Couple Should Know About
Marriage and Prayer
DON’T GIVE UP
CHOCOL ATE
FOR LENT.
What is the secret of a successful marriage? How can couples
deepen their commitment to one another in Christ? Beloved
Catholic orator, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen illuminates the
path by focusing on the essential role that prayer must play in
every marriage. His anecdotes and stories illustrate his points
and make his teachings more memorable and more easily
applied to everyday life.
Instead, do something life-changing. Sign up for
the BEST LENT EVER email program. Each day,
you will receive spiritual coaching from Matthew
Kelly, America’s best-selling Catholic author.
CD’s are available in
the Gathering Space
for $3.00 each.
It’s simple and free. The only cost is your
commitment to live better each day this Lent.

Baptism Preparation Ministry
Preparation for Baptism is not just the technical details
of the event or a grand theological presentation. Baptism
preparation involves speaking of all the Sacraments and how
they affect your life. Baptism is just the start of the journey of
spiritual life.
We are seeking couples around 30 to 50 years old,
who have children in St. Pius School or Faith Formation or
even beyond who can give the presentation and give witness to
the Catholic family journey. You do not have be the holiest
family at St. Pius, just normal.
Unless there is a holiday, Baptism Preparation is held
on the first Monday of each month. If several couples volunteer
for this ministry, then the commitment may be 3 times per year.
Please contact Dn Larry at 630-629-9234 or
[email protected].
Prayer for Year of Consecrated Life
O God, throughout the ages you have called women and
men to pursue lives of perfect charity through the
evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience.
During this Year of Consecrated Life, we give you thanks
for these courageous witnesses of faith and models of
inspiration. Their pursuit of holy lives teaches us to make
a more perfect offering of ourselves to you. Continue to
enrich your Church by calling forth sons and daughters
who, having found the pearl of great price, treasure the
Kingdom of Heaven above all things. Through our Lord
Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in
the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen.

Congratulations to the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary
Immaculate on the 150th Anniversary of their Order. We
thank the Franciscan Sisters of Joliet for over 60 years of
devoted service to our faith community where they taught in
our parish school from the time it was founded. Their service
continues through the presence of Sr. Pauline Schutz, OSF
(pictured on left) who has directed Pastoral Care in our faith
community and in the surrounding area for 37 years through
ministries such as the St. Vincent dePaul Society; the
Bereavement Ministry; Ministers of Care to the ill and the
homebound, as well as to those in nursing homes and
hospitals. She brings together our V.I.P.s , a group of seniors,
for monthly meetings and socialization.
Pictured with Sr. Pauline is Sr. Ann Freiburg, OSF, a native
of Lombard, who supported parish ministries and the
community for 20 years. Collectively, they have given 57
years of service to
our parish and to the
community at large.
That’s a lot of years and
a lot of service. Now it’s
time to say “thank you!”
